Pretend you have an 800 million dollar budget. How would you do a JUSTICE LEAGUE live action film? What would the plot be? Which characters would be included? Heroes? Villains? Locales? Heavy on the action and special effects, or more of a drama/character movie? What kind of approach would you take? Who would star?

Roster:
Superman/Ka-El/Clark Kent: Victor Webster
Batman/Bruce Wayne: Christain Bale
Wonder Woman/Princess Diana: Lucy Lawless
Aquaman/King Arthur: Kifer Sutherland
Green Lantern/Hal Jordan: Greg Kinnear
Flash/Barry Allen: Eric Roberts
Steel/John Henry Irons(I'll explain later): Laurence Fishburne
Villains
Lex Luthor: Kevin Spacey
Despero(CGI): Keith David(voice)
And cameos by Lois Lane, Perry White, Jimmy Olsen, Alfred, Iris West, the Guardians, and other supporting charcters in their solo movie. Now about Steel, well I wanted Hal Jordan, but that means no African Americans, so I decided to but him in, and even give him the Aegis armor.

I mean just cast extras as all the lesser known heroes, and save the big names for the main characters, or not so much big names as recognizable people for Kingdom Come
like
Superman---Lee Majors
Batman---If he were still alive, I'd say Jack Lemmon, but now I'll say Bryan Cox
Wonder Woman---Sophia Loren
Flash---Paul Newman
Green Lantern---Robert Redford who I would also use for the Spectre
Robin---Charlie Sheen
Hawkman---stuck with this one too...
Gog---Tom Berenger.

just kidding, no way those people are right for the Kingdom Come movie, except, maybe Robert Redford as Spectre and Charlie Sheen as the Kingdom Come Robin.

For $800-million , I'd shoot a Superfriends movie on camcorder with Martin and Wendy as the main characters, played by people I find on the street.
The remaining $799,999,910 would mysteriously disappear, as I take my gold bars and tradeable bond certificates to Switzerland.

Superman* - George Clooney or Rob Lowe
Batman - Guy Pearce
Wonder Woman - Liv Tyler
Flash - Jay Mohr
Green Lantern - Rob Livingston (Kyle), Keith David (John)
Firestorm - Edward Burns
Major Disaster - Lieb Schieber
Faith - Rachel Leigh Cook
Plastic Man - Jim Carrey
The Atom - Noah Wyle
MM - Taye Diggs
*Both of these choices would have to buff themselves up, and Clooney in particular would have to do away with his smarmy accent (which I deemed to be what killed him in Batman & Robin.)

With the Phantom Stranger as our narrator, we are introduced to the many heroes of the DC universe. Our plot begins when the immortal Vandal Savage attempts an assault on Washington DC, causing the heroes we were introduced to in their own vignettes to band together as the Justice League. Their greatest foes, not to be outdone, form an Injustice League. The main plot revolves around a series of skirmishes between the JLA and the Injustice League, who are secretly working with Vandal Savage; the immortal has promised Luthor a foolproof way to kill Superman. However, Savage's plan is to duplicate the experiment that brought the Martian Manhunter through space and time to Earth, and summon himself an army of super-strong, shapeshifting telepaths to conquer the world. Luthor stumbles onto Savage's true intent and breaks rank, breaking into the League's headquarters to inform them of the true threat. In the end, the JLA and the Injustice League team up to fight Savage and his fledgling Martian army, but Luthor and the Joker doublecross their allies and nearly succeed in wresting control of the Martians.

I dunno...I've always liked the Phantom Stranger for his tendency to show up and say "JLA. Go do that." Whenever anyone gets pissed at him for coming out of nowhere, he responds "I AM a member of the league, am I not?"

Eddie Dean's cast is excellent. The only one I'd change is Superman. I'd go with Jim Caviezel. He was my pick for Superman Returns and I'd still love to see him get the part.

I don't have very static choices but IMHO :
Superman : well since he has been chosen B.Routh. I know a lot of people are going to hate me for this but Personally I would have beeen pretty pleased with T.Welling. IMHO.
Batman : Well again not my choice but since he is the actual Batman : C.Bale
Wonderwoman : It's very very hard. I think tsianina joelson is good for the job. I almost convinced of it. Tsianina joelson seems to be strong and fragile at the same time. That's my choice for now. Few years ago I thought Monica Belucci was perfect ofr it but maybe she's "too old" (relatively) so personally anyone who's physically close to her AND who can act is good for me.It's just a matter of finding the good balance between the warrior and the sensitivity.
The Flash :I wouldn't mind M.Rosenbaum at all, but I think other actors could fit. But (I'm going to be flamed again but) I don't want R.Reynolds as the Flash. I really don't want him. I think he's going to ruin the character. IMHO.
Green Lantern : John stewart : I agree Henry Simmons is not a bad choice.
Hal Jordan : well I think Michael Vartan and Jim Caviezel are not bad choices at all.
Martian Manhunter : on this one no doubt! : Carl Lumbly.
Hawkgirl : gee I don't know.
Aquaman : oddly enough I think the guy in Lost would be good : Josh Holloway.
and about Darkseid I think one should go with a cgi one dubbed by M. Ironside.

and whoever said Jim Caviezel was too old for Superman is clueless. Supes is supposed to be in his 30s (if we're going for the movie continuity). In fact if Superman Returns is based on the first 2 he's actually 36 there. In the first film, Jor El tells Clark he's spent 18 yrs of his life on Earth, then he takes him through his training, then at the end of the training he tells him he's been in stasis for 12 Earth years.
Jim Caviziel is only 32.
38.

He sounds black but it would be easier to make a white guy green.

Government contract bidder Bruce Wayne is there, as well as UN Metahuman Committee chair Diana Prince and reporters Lois Lane and Clark Kent. The Ultramarines are shown unstable and timely intervention by GL/Flash an amazingly powered UN Ambassador and some hidden heroes prevent disaster.
Metahuman activity attracts the massive mental senses of Despero, who, floating through space mentally piloting an imprisoning asteroid, easily takes over the internation space station, hopes inside the docking bay of the shuttle and, controlling the astronauts completely mentally, speaking only through their voices as he controls them, he commands them to undock and return to earth.
GL and Superman prevent the shuttle from Crashing. Flash comes in to save some innocents and the crowd, suddenly filled with purple eyes, begins to get rowdy before Despero bursts from the back of the shuttle and manhandles Superman who manages to set him up for GL to hurl him while getting pounded. Despero begins his trek around the world walking onto the coasts of Europe and mentally assembling an army. Batman and Wonderwoman and Flash move to intercept, Batman gets taken over for a moment before his belt automatically knocks him out. (A safeguard he explains later in the batcave). Wonder Woman gets beat up bad and Flash pulls her out.
The would be Justice League assembles, they contact the government who takes them to area 51 where a viscous liquid calling itself J'onn J'onzz is contained. He explains and warns about Despero. Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and the Flash meet later and decide that Batman is a threat, it is this opportunity that Batman uses to take them out and warn them of Despero's method of mind control, which he has analyzed his own mind to determine the method of tampering. He also warns them against coming against him and says something badass.
Despero comes towards the west coast, flanked by thousands of jets, hundreds of ships and the closer they get, the more of Americas armies turn inward. The Ultramarines are taken over early in the game and only through a great deal machinations by the League, an army of contstructs and after-images, a very angry duo of Wonder Woman and Superman and a Batjet containing some anti-mind control waves do the Justice League prevail against Despero whom Wonder Woman is more than happy to 'destroy.' Big celebration ,everyone goes home happy.

with 800 mil, I'd just do kingdom come
is there any other Justice League story worth translating into film?
not one I think. Must've read Kingdom Come 20 times and love it more with each read.
I'd never want to see an adaptation of this story. Frame for frame by the book or eat it.
I also don't think 800 million is required to do it. You could knock it out for $200 plus marketing.

I would do JUSTICE, the new Jim Krueger/ Alex Ross/ Doug Braithwaite title. I would alter it to make it an origin story, they would all be taken down at first, then in the second half, band together and "officially" be the Justice League.
Kingdom Come would be done way later.

to budget this film i would get 10% from all DC and DC related characters gross (from Merchendising and box office) should get invested in special Mutual Funds account and the interest that is gained by that can go to pay the people that would have usually gained the gross.
Since its gonna be a while since we get a a JL movie and we have all these DC movies coming out with sequals, its gonna be a huge account with huge interest.
Mattel should start making decent movie products. (there new superhero line rules)
Legendary/ Warner Brothers/ New Line/ and iMMATURE iNC. (my soon to be global franchise) should split the bill from whatever the (hopefully high) mutal account raises.

I just saw this (http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060627/ENTERTAINMENT03/606270320/1080) over at Indystar.com. The piece interviews Paul Levitz, DC president, and has a notible paragraph that goes like this:
Don't look for a film version of DC's Justice League of America anytime soon. The comic features a group of heroes such as Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and the Martian Manhunter who fight evil together. [Paul] Levitz says there would be so many characters the film would have to be four hours long. Sorry to burst your bubbles, but it doesn't look from this article that such a project will happen now or in the near future.

lol 800million to produce the movie...totally would never happen since you wouldnt even make that much money back until maybe 2-3 years later if you include merchandise and overseas?
But I dont see why a JLA movie would have to be 4 hours long. Thats why since the big 3 are/ or have movies, you dont have to worry that much about giving background information. X-Men had how many charecters? and didnt go over 2 hours..a JLA movie could totally be done within the movie time limits 2-3 hours(if King Kong can be 3 hours...come on)

it wouldn't have to be four hours long. looks at the first JL arc from the cartoon... three episodes, a little over an hour. and you're telling me you need FOUR hours? give it two and a half tops and, with the right people in charge, you can have an unbelievably kickass movie.
of course, it'll never happen.

Well if you want it to be in the class of a LOTR the film (with an all star cast) it should run about 3½-4 hours long. That is how long each (extended) edition of the LOTR trilogy ran. I don't know about (US)$800 million to produce, but if you look at films like X3, LOTR and SW and cosider inflation after 10 years, something over $200 million would not be unreasonable to believe as a production budget for a film with an all-star ensemble.

Crisis on infinate media outlets.
Superman/clark Tom welling, Dean Cain, and Brandon Routh
Wonder Women: All celeberties that want to play her in wonder women outfits +Linda Carter.
Martian Manhunter: Marvin the Martian, One of the guys from Mars Attacks, And Tom Cruise (he recently fought martians in war of the worlds and would know how to play a martian right)
Aqua Man: guy who played him on Smallville
Flash: Guy who played him on smallville (too lazy to look up names)
This is a joke. This is a horrible idea...Though a Crisis might be nice once everyone has their own movies going.

Justice League: The Motion Picture
This is going to presume that everyone (except for Black Canary's) origin has been set.
Dirs. Bryan Singer & Robert Rodriguez (his lower budget style will help keep costs down and afford us this cast)
Superman/Clark Kent: Brandon Routh
Batman/Bruce Wayne: Christian Bale
Wonder Woman/Diana Prince: Sophia Bush
Green Lantern/John Stewart: Terence Howard
Flash/Wally West: Ryan Reynolds
Black Canary/Dinah Drake: Samaire Armstrong
In Superman:TM, Jor-El references the "bloody mosaic of interplanetary war in the early history" of one of the galaxies he traveled to.
Superman and Batman have, begrudgingly, been working together to topple an international crime and terrorism syndicate called Intergang. Meanwhile, a Gotham florist named Dinah Drake is frustrated. While Gotham's Dark Knight focuses on big crime with Superman, he's ignoring the sort of common street thugs who nearly raped and killed her several years ago (unsuccessfully, thanks to the Batman).
The head of Intergang, 'Brutal' Bruno Manheim, is in a fit. His operation nearing the rocks, his only son given a life sentence thanks to some CSI out of Central City. The only thing he has going for him is a 6 billion dollar offer from a man named Arcineaux DeSaad to find one of the Kryptonian crystals lost at the bottom of the sea. A submersible finds one, and a high pitch squeal pierces Superman's ears, calling him to the Fortress. There, Jor-El likeness warns him of the day he prayed would never come. Even Krypton considered itself lucky to never have been foolish enough to toy with a Boom Tube.
Across the galaxy, the Guardians of the Universe have a similar reaction and dispatch John Stewart of Sector 2814 to Earth to investigate. Bruce Wayne is in Washington, D.C. Bruce is a man who pushes himself too far - more than enough stress for two men, less than enough sleep for one. At a banquet supporting the continuance of the U.S. space program, he meets a delegate from Greece named Diana Prince. The two hit it off, until all hell breaks loose.
All across the planet, massive earthquakes, tidal waves, volcanic eruptions and random lightning strikes plague human beings. Everyone, even Superman is clueless what to do. Venturing into space, he sees it - looks like a black hole with red light at the end, large enough to fit the moon. A BOOM TUBE. Just as suddenly, it closes, leaving the entire world perplexed. A concerned Clark Kent tries to persuade Lois to stay out of danger this time, to no avail.
The result of the tube opening was one of Manheim's men stupidly opening the crystal. DeSaad informs them all that the whole of Intergang are now servants of DARKSEID.
I'm getting tired of writing, but long story short, mistrust is all around amidst a group of people with masks, and Superman having kept it all a secret. Darkseid sends a full invasion force to Earth in the most sweeping, all-encompasing attacks from beyond the stars ever. His never-ending quest - The Anti-Life Equation, a complex code set into the DNA codes of species all throughout the universe....
SPOILER! SPOILER! SPOILER! IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN SUPERMAN RETURNS AND DO NOT WANT SOMETHING REALLY BIG SPOILED FOR YOU, SCROLL DOWN UNTIL YOU SEE THE RED END SPOILER SIGN!
...yet, the most important piece of the puzzle may lie within the genome code of a child of two different species. Kryptonian 12 strand DNA combined carefully with Human 2 strand - Jason White.
END SPOILER! END SPOILER! END SPOILER!
With the matter now deeply personal to the Man of Steel, and the fate of the world hanging in the balance, a motley crew of a creepy, loner, a space cop with a chip on his shoulder, a fast-moving wise guy, a strong, combative princess, a pissed-off, feminist vigilante, and a troubled boy scout must save our world from a force more destructive than 100 black holes.

See why it would cost 800 million now?
This is a tremendous list, and I'd agree w/almost all of it. No Lucy Lawless, How old is she now, 45? Andie MacDowell (50?),Definitely not Breckin Myer for anything, esp Firestorm. And with a project THIS big, change the director to James Cameron. But I LOVE the idea of Keifer as Aquaman! Nice bit for Kurt Russell too

It wouldn't be 4 hours long! X-Men has more characters than Justice League! I think there should b a JL trilogy.
http://www.superherohype.com/forums/showthread.php?p=9543540#post9543540
I think there should be a trilogy as well...
I think the first one should involve Despero coming to earth to take it over, the second one a full scale white martian invasion and the last one a reality-altering issue with Darkseid. I think the first movie should center on the big five: (Super, WW, Bat, Flash, GL), the next one should formall introduce MM, include Aquaman, Zatanna and Hawkgirl, and the last one should go for broke with cameos by everyone imaginable as the crew tries to track down the cosmic cube as Darkseid combs the world, throughout time with the cosmic cube to find the ALE.

Some good ideas. I was thinking something very similar. I'd have the first film about the martian invasion. It would hav Supes, Batman, WW, Flash, John Stewart GL, MM, and Hawk Girl. The second film would introduce Kyle Rayner GL, Black Canary, Supergirl, Green Arrow, and The Question and would involve the Cadmus plot line from the cartoon. And i agree about the Darkseid plotline in the last film with Zatana and Huntress as major characters with several cameos. :D:batman::supes:
