It's little oversights like that, which I believe he won't make. I mean c'mon he's a comic book enthusiast so he knows people are gonna ask for it. Yet, he has repeatedly said this is not a romance movie, there's no time for it with all of the other elements he has to juggle. It's a war movie. The romances will be saved for the individual sequels.

YES. Trek has such an incredibly score, and I only hope that Silvestri delivers on The Avengers.

Problem with TIH is that it takes up such a big chunk of time from the scenes we see in the opening and the climax and ending scenes.
That's why it gets confusing, but overall I think I have a good general idea of how things developed.

And I have the utmost faith in Silvestri regarding his Avengers score. His work on TFA was great, and Joss commented on Silvestri's work so far in some interviews.

Natalie Portman was confirmed by Marvel Studios to be returning alongside Chris and Tom for the sequel when it was officially announced.

Like some have said, it's either likely that either Selvig or Coulson (should the scene not have been cut from the theatrical cut) will tell Thor on what happened to Jane since he left.


Anyways, if the park scene is supposedly the final scene for the film, I can see on how that fits with Whedon's desire to make a movie where people focus on the journey that takes place within it instead of just using it as another springboard for future sequels.

Like some have said, the Avengers will serve as a nice closure to the first chapter/phase of the MCU stories.

Hill's personality in EMH is consistent with what she's like in the comics, I believe. From what Samuel L. Jackson and Clark Gregg have said, Hill opposed the Avengers Initiative and clashes with Fury and Coulson constantly. They're likely setting her up to challenge Fury for control of SHIELD later on.


Frankly, although I realize Hill's purpose I don't have any use for her in any medium. She's like Henry Peter Gyrich on estrogen. The writers seem to lack the ability to create adversarial characters with any redeeming qualities.

I've actually never heard of many cases where a actor/actresses would be recasted for a role, only to come back later after someone else had just previously played their role.

When it comes to Marvel Films..hell any comic book film, I think it's safe to say that not everything, even some of the big things, will always been portrayed accurately in film at times.

Case in point:

1. In the X-Men films; Cyclops did not end up with Jean like he did in the comics

2. Gwen Stacy never died in Raimi's franchise

3. Sif and Heimdell are not presented as brother and sister as they are in the comics

4. Odin was not responsible for killing Laufey in the film like he was in the comics

5. Lois Lane never got engaged to Perry's nephew while thinking that her son was his in the comics at all


So in our case, while some of the foundations may be relatively the same, when it comes to films, I'm not willing to bet on what will surely happen in the films because of the fact that they had took place in the comics.

Agreed; personally, I'm willing to see them at least being portrayed in having a shot at the beginning-middle of the sequel (ala the honeymoon phase), before things come apart, where they agree that it won't work at the end of the first film or something to that effect so that Thor will have somewhat moved on by the time that his third film arrives.

I figure, if one person can bring in their love interest, why not the others who's love interests are still alive and well.haha

My opinion (which is just that, my opinion -of course) is that the reason why Pepper makes sense and the others don't is because things with Pepper resolved on a pretty upbeat note in IM2, whereas with everyone else's love interests - it ended on a downer and there's loads of baggage attached to how we last saw them (Banner had to go on the run again, leaving Betty behind....again, Cap was frozen for almost 70 years, Thor and Jane got seperated by the destruction of the Bifrost). There are issues to be resolved with those relationships that don't have to be resolved between Pepper/Stark. As she works closely with him (and as action takes place at Stark tower), her cameo can work without them having to address the romance overly much and having it work.

With the others, if they try to shoehorn them into an already large ensemble cast without addressing the baggage, It would be doing a disservice to the time and development that those relationships deserve.

Like others have said, a mention can be made - Selvig or Coulson giving Thor an update on where she is/that she's safe, and Thor mentioning that he will go see her once Loki is taken care of/secure back in Asgard or whatever. That will work for me.

Like I said, just my opinion, and I hope it made sense.



As for the Japanese trailer? :wow::wow: I totally flipped out at work when I watched it (and I loved, LOVED that they still kept the dialogue in English and just subtitled it for the Japanese). All those new scenes, Hawkeye speaks! The Hellicarrier rising! More Loki! More Thor! GAH!!!! Needs to be May NOW! *lol*

Thor wont know Cap Ironman And The Hulk for much longer than two days either .
Is it any more reasonable to expect the camraderie between these three heroes to form so quickly in the same realtively short period of time that Thor's romance blossomed ?

Point is, is that, yeah, he may not know the Avengers, but thats part of the main plot, its the main reason for the movie. Jane on the other hand, was not really the MAIN plot/story in Thor, she was a side story. That movie was about Thor learning humility and how to be a better individual, and what it means to be an a true Asgardian. The Avengers is about this team, so I think its safe to say, you can't really compare Thor's relationship with his fellow avengers to his relationship with Jane, one is the pain part of the film's story, the other, is not.

Hill's personality in EMH is consistent with what she's like in the comics, I believe. From what Samuel L. Jackson and Clark Gregg have said, Hill opposed the Avengers Initiative and clashes with Fury and Coulson constantly. They're likely setting her up to challenge Fury for control of SHIELD later on.


Frankly, although I realize Hill's purpose I don't have any use for her in any medium. She's like Henry Peter Gyrich on estrogen. The writers seem to lack the ability to create adversarial characters with any redeeming qualities.

I get the feeling Hawkeye will not say much in this movie. More silent sniper than 616 Hawkeye. A pity, really. Well, RDJ will have to make up for it.

Too many snarky smart asses might be overload. Its like Singer's reasons for not putting Gambit in a movie with Wolverine. (even though we got that in wolverine's movie.) He said that two anti-heroes was too many and would take away from Wolverine.

Point is, is that, yeah, he may not know the Avengers, but thats part of the main plot, its the main reason for the movie. Jane on the other hand, was not really the MAIN plot/story in Thor, she was a side story. That movie was about Thor learning humility and how to be a better individual, and what it means to be an a true Asgardian. The Avengers is about this team, so I think its safe to say, you can't really compare Thor's relationship with his fellow avengers to his relationship with Jane, one is the pain part of the film's story, the other, is not.

Romance under extreme circumstances is a big part of action movies.
Take Speed , for example.
They only had HOURS to fall in love .
But, they did it .
It is done all of the time and it is not that rare a thing in the history of film
Somtimes I think fans would gladly write The Widow and other female characters out of this movie , As well as ALL Superhero movies in general .

When that scene got axed they put Volstagg into the scene (digitally?) but the dialogue remained the same.

The Japanese trailer had more footage but it wasn't necessarily the better edited trailer. The American final Avengers trailer was the best I think.

Although I agree that Japanese trailers tend to be way better. Brave's Japanese trailer for example was leagues better than any of the American ones.

The Avengers doesn't really need a love story but it worked out perfectly fine for Captain America, Thor, Hulk/TIH, and the Iron Man films.

They're escorting Loki back to the helicarrier but Thor shows up and rips a hole in the quinjet and rescues Loki. This leads into Cap's skydive in the air and their fight with Thor in the forest.

Yep, my thoughts exactly. Especially in an ensemble film with so much going on. It removes a sense of realism from the storyline when every film forces an unnecessary romantic subplot. More important stuff is going on, no time for nookie.

Yep yep. No surprising since store clerks don't really care about this kind of stuff.

I would have bought em but my son quickly lost interest in all the Cap and Thor books I picked up for him. Didn't want to drop unnecessary sheckles. Plus, Hasbro's Avengers goodie box is due in next week. We'll be having way too much fun with that :hrt:

Piecing it all together they've really only released about 6 minutes of a 2:15 film. Considering all the secrecy around it, though, I doubt any of the future trailers/clips/etc will have anything of consequence that will spoil the movie.
