View Full Version : Teenage Alien Ninja Turtles
What do you guys think of the turtles having a alien origin of some sort?
There must be a turtles only planet where they practice Ninjitsu. :o

Here's what I came up with on how to work in the alien origin:
Somehow those aliens leave accidently 4 babies of their species on earth. Then, the splinter rat finds them in the sewers, and because the aliens emit some kind of radiation, Splinter starts to evolve to the giant rat thing. And from that point on it's the basic origin
Don't get me wrong, I'm not supporting the alien origin, but this was the best origin I could come up with alien backstory, and also, since they're not gonna change the alien thing I might as well just try to live with it

We all know how this movie will start. Large alien turtle eggs will rain from the sky and crash into buildings, Armageddon style and some offensive ethnic stereotypes will be yelling things.
A Michael Bay movie.

at most, i'd be fine with the radioactive ooze that mutates the turtles to be of alien origin. but not the turtles themselves.

something tells me we'll get an incredibly lame predictable story where the race of turtle aliens return to earth from their home planet in an attempt to raid and destroy humanity, and our ninja turtles will have to come out of the sewers to fight their own ancestors in order protect their adopted planet earth which they've had to hide in the shadows from whole lives to ultimately save the day and finally find acceptance among the humans that had previously shunned them due to our predilection for misunderstanding things that are different from us.
i came up with that in 30 seconds.....its actually probably better than what michael bay has been cooking up for years.

Wait, so are we 100% sure the turtles themselves are from another world? I was still leaving hope alive that the turtles were by-products of alien tampering. Not literally aliens themselves.
Between this movie's premise and the Nickelodeon show (tween April O'Neil has a crush on one of the turtles :atp:), I don't know what to say.

It's horrendous. I heard enough what the crew is trying to point out with this and it's laughingly stupid. I think that TMNT needs an update for a film franchise.... but Bay......? The man ruined my childhood memories of Transformers! *shivers* No.... never again.

The Nickelodeon show looks..good actually. Besides April, which I don't mind if they made her younger, the show was meant for kids and if IT's GOOD then I don't mind.
With the movie, I think it's still up in the air and there's a lot of spinning/damage control going on so it's hard to say if they're actually aliens or not. I'm thinking that the ozze itself is alien in origin and the Turtles may have to fight a baddie like Krang.

I actually like how the turtles and splinter came from Baxter Stockman's research lab who is in cohorts with the main baddies.

Looking at what he did to Transformers was evidence enough.

Me and my coworker are not thrilled about these new developments; honestly we narrowed it down that:
-Story is going to revolve around Casey and a big boobed ****ty looking April... both casting choices will be incapable to act
-Only 3-8 minutes screen time with the actual Turtles and Splinter
-4 hours long
-Shredder and the Foot will destroy most of the city by simply bumping into one another
-It's expected the turtles will at some point pee on a cop, show full frontal nudity, and sell out a lot for eating franchise brand pizza
-I severely racist oriental stereotype for Splinter
The list goes on and saddened by the fact that if neither of us where in relationships that I would marry this woman right now.

I would expect nothing less than for some people on here to mock others on here for what they like or don't like. It unfortuantly is a common every day experience that I constantly fight against.
There are characters and storylines and movies, etc that I personally could care less about or positively can't stand....but I don't waste my time bugging the people who do like them. That part of the internet is my biggest peeve....people who think the internet gives them the right to be a dick to others.

I'm no purist. In fact, I'm a fairly flexible fan when arriving on alterations for adaptations, and I can take a joke (I laughed my ass off at that skit) as well as the next guy, but there's a limit. Retooling of an origin is one of them for me.

Bay is an absolute hack and a film making disaster, and Platinum Dunes is movie making mediocrity at its finest; but you can't deny they've hyped this film quite a bit. LOL.
In much the same way Tebow has added an insane amount of hype to the Jets (good or bad) Bay's Ninja Turtle comments have certainly got people talking.

Kinda ruins the "mutant" part of the title. Do you think they should change it? Or should their blood/tech, when it comes to earth, cause the mutation of other animals, causing the mutant aspect to remain relevant?

The movie is called Ninja Turtles for a reason. They most likely took the "Mutants" part out as soon as they became aliens.

I got bored at work the other day and put together this rough backstory of making the turtles "aliens" while still maintaining their mutant origins. It also makes way for Krang, the Technodrome, and Dimension X since that is probably where Bay wants to take this by making them alien. I tried basing it in reality as much as possible. I also borrowed elements from different incarnations of the turtles.
April O’ Neil, a tough-as-nails investigative news reporter, strikes her newscaster pose in front an abandoned industrial complex on the outskirts of New York City; windows shattered and graffiti scaling the façade like some sort of ancient urban mosaic. In that mess of amateur street art, the graffiti’d silhouette of a Foot appears several times. O’Neil has a microphone in hand and proceeds with a dire report on the history behind this hallowed site. She owns the camera with confidence and a sense of self-assuredness.
The building has been condemned for over ten years. A makeshift fence wraps around the perimeter, meshing with the plant life that has engulfed it. The complex, originally owned by the now defunct TGRI Corporation, spurred up controversy due to experiments involving animals from every species: Rhinos, warthogs, alligators, and turtles being of the most noteworthy. O’Neil was just a college student then, getting her big break by uncovering the illegal experimentation going on within the complex. Her revelation sparked mass protests and widespread media coverage; ultimately, destroying the reputation of the company and putting it on the verge of bankruptcy. With a spotlight now beamed directly on them, the company’s CEO, Oroku Saki, resorted to desperate measures.
One day the complex exploded in flames, leaving behind the skeleton it has now become. Saki disappeared along with his head of research, Baxter Stockman. It is believed that many of the animals perished in the fire, while others were able to escape; perhaps with assistance or on their own… There is a reward for any information leading to arrest of Saki and Stockman. Police officials have labeled the fire as deliberate.
The years since have given rise to conspiracy theories that accuse the military of being involved with the experiments. Rumors have it that the creatures were being exposed to an alien bacteria brought to this planet from a rogue meteor. Saki and Stockman were recruited to extract the strain and uncover ways to apply it. They soon discovered, almost accidentally, that it could be utilized in the mutation of animals. It apparently caused a shocking development in brain function and bodily transformation; causing any creature exposed to take on human-like qualities, the least of which is the ability to walk upright. However, the alien strain appeared to have the opposite effect on the human organism; instead of enhancing inherent human qualities, it mutated their DNA and created Frankensteinesque monsters. It goes without saying that Baxter Stockman became a victim of his own experiments after exposing himself to the alien strain and turning himself into a hideous fly-like creature. This is of course the stuff urban legends are made of.
Immediately following the fire, it was revealed that Saki was also under investigation for ties to criminal organizations. His political prowess and government relations made him a unique asset to any blossoming criminal element. The state of the world was and is bleak. It is reminiscent of old New York circa the 1980s; a New Jack City meets The Crow-type environment. Crime is at an all-time high with a resurgence in organized crime due to a terrible economic crisis. Most notably, a clan that calls themselves the Foot has risen to the occasion and evolved into a global crime syndicate. Their existence is mythical, based simply in folklore equal to that of La Cosa Nostra before turncoats and media coverage put a face to the secret organization. Their leader, a Keyser Soze-type figure goes by the alias Shredder. He has never been seen by anyone outside of the clan and only exists in the shadows. Descriptions of what he looks like are scant, but he wears an armor that resembles that of a modern-day Samurai.
The existence of the Foot has expectedly caught the attention of April O’Neil. She has taken it as a personal challenge to prove that they have undoubtedly influenced governments around the world and gained control of local populations through fear and intimidation. Many inner-city kids turn to the Foot out of desperation and eventually progress onto higher ranks by proving themselves loyal to the clan. They are required to commit themselves to a code of silence, taking on an omerta with a consequence of death if they should reveal any detail related to the clan. Those who advance to higher positions are offered the romanticized role of enforcer. The enforcers are trained in deadly fighting skills and are the most respected of the clan. Their loyalty is unmatched and their abilities are feared. Death is guaranteed to anyone interfering with the smooth operation of the clan. The victim will never see it coming.
Beneath the streets of New York and hidden from the eyes of society, a secret battle is ongoing. At the same time Saki and Stockman disappeared, a well-respected and skilled secret agent, Hamato Yoshi, had been assigned to the case investigating Saki for political corruption in Japan. Yoshi was last seen in New York and it is suspected that he was present at the time the TGRI complex was set ablaze. This fateful night would be the final time Yoshi would be seen in human form. Stockman, already exposed to the alien strain, unleashed the mutagen on Yoshi as he and Saki fled from the burning complex. The blaze would badly scar Saki and the alien strain would mutate Yoshi into a rat-like creature. Yoshi retreated from the fight with a carrying case containing 4 turtle specimens. He grabbed it as proof once he realized what Saki and Stockman were actually doing; however, the strain rapidly mutated Yoshi. It was also during this confrontation that Yoshi’s suspicions that Saki was in fact the Shredder were confirmed. This newfound discovery and his mutation forced Yoshi into hiding. He knew he would be locked away for research and decided to continue his battle alone.
In that time, Yoshi saw the turtle specimens evolve into self-aware human creatures. He viewed this as an opportunity to train them with the skills he had acquired from his years as a secret agent. The turtles grew up with unique personalities and Yoshi named them accordingly, Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo. In the ten years since the incident, the four turtles have become fighting machines on an equal level of the Foot’s toughest enforcers. There is only one set-back; they are still only immature teenagers with a knack for mischievous activity and an insatiable appetite for pizza. Yoshi, now dubbed the Splinter by his young students and a surrogate father who cares for them, is determined to bring Saki’s reign to an end and topple the stronghold of the Foot. He knows that it will not easy but with the help of his teenage mutant ninja turtles, and a certain determined news reporter, Yoshi is convinced he will be able change the world. It is a battle that is ongoing between the two factions.
However, what Yoshi and Saki do not know is that the alien bacteria landing on Earth was no accident…

Unfortunately the script's so-called comic relief has some of the corniest jokes ever referencing Kung Fu Panda, Reservoir Dogs, and that WB frog. Facepalm-inducing is the best way to describe it.

They dropped the Alien Concept. Movie renamed in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
As of late, we have learned two - corrections - regarding the Michael Bay-produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie.
The first was last week when a new logo was unveiled for the movie which included "Teenage Mutant," as it was previously said Bay was dropping that part of the title for simply "Ninja Turtles."
The second comes today with Michael Bay stating that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will not be aliens, as was also previously stated to be the case.
"There was that quote saying that we’re making [the Ninja Turtles as] aliens. We're not," Bay clarifed to MovieFone. "It’s the ooze! It’s from the original source material. These are from the original writers, and I never went out to correct myself in the press. I do listen to the fans and I do want this to be authentic. I think they’re going to be really happy with this movie. When I see the digital stuff, the turtles look great."
