I personally want too see some awkward moments between him and Leo regarding following orders and his aggression.

Ugh. That's one of the few moments in the IDW run I had to struggle to get through.
Mikey was SO annoying there.

I'll have to now. That's sounds adorable.
On the topic of his fighting style, what arts (apart from Ninpo aka Ninjutsu) should Ralph employ?
I've always envisioned Ralph utilizing Muay Thai, Kyokushin Karate and Greco-Roman Wrestling. They're aggressive and powerful arts in nature that match Ralph's personality.

The dialogue was obnoxious with him slobbering about the pizza guy. The moment was nice, but Mikey's dialogue was not endearing at all.

It's comic book pulp. that's all. I think there are exceptions to the rule when it comes to 'cheese'. I personally didn't think it's bad writing.

Yea that's one thing that hasn't been touched on in the movies or Cartoon ...in the original comics Raph and Mikey are really close but the cartoon and movies changed it to Donnie and Mikey

The problem is MMA isn't a style. It's a system like Systema.

I think Raph's fighting style should be almost, brutish. He's an aggressive, easily annoyed grump (i say that in the nicest possible way!). That should be reflected in how he fights.
Mikey should have a lot of "flair" to his style.
Donnie should be kinda, nonchalant and composed.
Leo should be precise, like a surgeon.
DoomsdayApex
03-29-2012, 04:50 PM
With Mikey, I expect TKD, Capoeira and Drunken Fist.
Donnie should incorporate Judo, Pekiti-Tirsia Kali and Shotokan Karate.
Leo is easily a Jujutsu, Kenjutsu and ****o-Ryu Karate guy.

I love Raphael " the wolverine " of the Tmnt. My favorite version would have to be Josh Pais from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990). When I was a kid, I was kinda suprised to find out that Josh was a white dude, because his Raph always reminded me of Ice Cube for some reason.
Rob Paulsen Ralph from the Fred Wolf toon was my second favorite because he was such a wise ass. The 4Kids Ralph is my third favorite.

Yeah, Raph's had the new york accent since the first live action Ninja Turtles film. Kinda like..how Leo's voice from the 80's cartoon influenced the casting of the preceding Leo voices in the movies and later TV shows/cartoons. All of the Leo voice has the same tone as the original Leo.

I love that the actor who did the voice of Raphael in the first film, Josh Pais, is the guy in the back of the cab. All these years later, I still get a chuckle out of that because you can definitely hear Raph in his voice when he says "What the heck was that?!" For me, it's always fun to watch Scream 3, because Josh Pais plays a detective in that movie and every line he utters, I feel like I'm listening to Raph.

1990 Raph was unique, because he was the only one voiced and did the stunt work by the same man. The other Turtles were voiced and acted by different individuals. Also, all of the stunt actors had brief cameos in the movie as well.

But you can't use that as a crutch for every movie and say that's 'his character arc'; it becomes less effective and compelling that way.

Yea i think that could be interesting. Instead of the cliche "Raph gets mad and runs away". They could maybe show Raph go a little too far, and deal with the ramifications of that.
Maybe not actually kill someone, but you know, go completely ape **** and brutalise them, make his brothers shocked, maybe even a little frightened.

when bay was talking about them being from another planet or whatever he did say that KIDS will believe they actally exist
which makes me think they wont make raph a dark character who nearly goes out and kills someone because this is for kids aswell as fans, so id gather it will be just raph having a quick temper and enjoying kicking butt

They actually touched on his rage in the 2k3 toon. And it was ripped right out of the actual comics. There is a scene where he's sparring with Michelangelo, and he get's so ticked off, he goes into a rage and almost beats Mikey with a pipe. After Leo and Donny stop him, he realized what he was about to do, and go topside for a while to cool down. Of course, this is where he meets Casey Jones.

Yeah in the original Mirage Comic, that was the case, and was stated in the RPG the only thing keeping Ralph from killing himself or the other turtles was his close friendship with Michealangelo, And also had a close bond with Casey Jones. This seemed to be switched in the 1990 movie, which portrays Don being close to both Mike and Casey , and Rapheal being a loner.

Josh only voiced and played Raph in TMNT 1. He did not do stunts, that was a martial arts guy. I don't know why Josh didn't return to the other movies it could be any reason, I can speculate that it was way too hard for him. The weight of the outfits would cause them to sweat gallons....

They ain't getting voice actors for these roles, they're getting actors who can do the action via mocap as well. Ritchson is a crazy dude, so I can see him working out. Honestly, Jason Biggs does good work as Leo, so I figure the rest of the cast will be just as unexpected.

Listening to his voice, I think I can hear a good Raph in the works. I'm sure he can pull off a tough Brooklyn accent (if they're goin in that direction). Hell, if you hear Josh Pais without his voice manipulation, you would never think Raphael, but low and behold he did it perfectly (as both the voice AND the body in the suit). Still, I can't get over the fact of where they're taking this movie, and that Megan is April.
