All the clubs have a moronic fringe. Sad but true.
Chelsea are no better and no worse than any other club in that regard. I've heard awful taunts and abuse hurled by fans at all clubs over the years. During minutes silence on occasion as well.
And Spidey-Dude, I can understand you being offended. The idiots disrespecting the minutes silence are inexcusable, but calling Chelsea a 'vile plastic club' is an OTT reaction, and as a Chelsea fan, that's something I find offensive.
You said in an earlier post "some of you might say "its the minority, dont tar them all with the same brush", and I'd add just a slight correction to that: It's what we should all say. Have a go at the morons responsible for the offence, not the club and the true fans who want nothing to do with those idiots.
And just one more thing you need a correction on: Chelsea's allocation was in fact sold out. I know as my brother and 2 friends tried to get some tickets and could not. Any that were empty today were corporate bought seats.

You are right - but it was a large minority, and unfortunately I have met far too many Chelsea fans who are ***** in my time (likewise I do know alot of good ones) so yea the reaction might have been a bit ott but it is an emotional one
I heard that the tickets were very easy to get for Chelsea fans, with season tickets with 1 prior fixture in the cup being allowed to buy up to 3 tickets (compared to my 2 previous games not being eligible for a ticket for yesterday) - the reason there were so many empty seats in the chelsea end (approx 1,500) was because the tickets were available so easy touts bought them and were unable to shift them (for the inflated tout prices)

Not suprising, the Stewards at Elland Road are jumped up arseholes whether it's a sell-out against Millwall at home, or 5,000 home fans against Lincoln. Don't get me wrong it's not the easiest crowd at the best of times, but these guys treat it like a warzone, act and ask questions later. Bates' regime treating the fans like crap isn't anything new either, he's got Leeds fans by the balls and he knows it.
"Michael Carrick has been great this season" whilst I never thought I would, I fully agree. He's just kept his head down, let Scholes take all the plaudits and played well. If he's not in the squad it's a crime.

A Curious Day In The Curious Life Of Mario Balotelli
exclusive access to a page from the diary of one Mario Balotelli…
9:00am - I wake up when the antique cannon I had installed in the bathroom is fired by the homeless man that I hired as my personal cannon man. I give him £1,000 a week, he fires my morning cannon and can help himself to as many Monster Munch as he wants.
9:12am - Got my silver dungarees on and a shirt made from clingfilm. Time to go to training.
9:45am - Stop off on the way to buy some petrol. This never goes well. Once again, I fill the Bentley up with Lucozade by mistake and have to hire a homeless man to drink it out from the tank with a cut up hosepipe. I give him £5,000 and take him to hospital to have his stomach pumped.
10:30am - Pull into Carrington. A man the others call Owen Hargreaves waves through the window to me. I think he works in the canteen. Leave car unlocked, with both doors wide open to let it air out a bit. I put the hazards on though. I’m not a complete animal.
12:05am - Training’s done. Mancini said something about us looking at a tactics DVD for next game but I’m going home because I prefer ‘White Men Can’t Jump’ and he never shows us that.
1:30pm – Get a call from my agent while driving home. He says that some little chicka from Coronation Street is trying to sell – how you say? – a ‘shag and tell’ story on Mario to the papers. I say I’ve never heard of this ‘Ken Barlow’ woman.
2:30pm – Pass by Coronation Street and post a wasp’s nest through Mrs Barlow’s door as revenge. It is a moral victory. I do not celebrate.
2:45pm - Apparently Coronation Street is not a real street and I have just exposed a lot of innocent people to wasp stings. I will drop by a case of vinegar tomorrow to apologise. Could have been worse if I’d have gone with ‘Plan A,’ which was to hand round a tray of sandwiches full of drawing pins. Thank God I am so calm sometimes.
5:21pm – I found that hand grenade that I lost. It was in the breadbin.
7:30pm - Wanted a glass of Kia-Ora. Someone’s cat was in my kitchen, so I put the cat in the microwave for three minutes just because. Now the kitchen smells of burnt hair and I owe someone a cat.
10:15pm – Only about two hours until Babestation starts! My favourite thing about England! Until then I shall watch ‘White Men Can’t Jump’ with the Japanese subtitles on. Just because.
End.

What happens in midfield once Wilshere comes back? I'm guessing Wilshere, Ramsay, Song is the obvious triumvirate. Arteta to the bench.
To bring Eriksen in, they would have to sell Walcott wouldn't they? The way the club operates and all that.

Wilshere seems a more deeper-lying midfielder than attacking one, so he'll likely rotate with Arteta and Song. We only really have Ramsey and Rosicky for the central attacking one, and could really do with nother though with better vision.

Something like players diving to win things has been going on for ages, and has become part of the game, so therefore he doesn't agree with those players being called 'cheats'. While yeah, it may not be morally right, almost every team pulls of these sort of tactics when required in order to get the upper hand/result.
It puts the ****storm we and Eduardo got over diving into perspective. When others do it and have been doing it for ages, some making it an art form, and it having become part of the game to get results, but in turn not getting anything at the severity that we got in attention brought to them.

The sad thing is, it's being taught from a young age. I remember in high school, I was dating a girl on the soccer team. Her coach would constantly tell them if they felt any contact in the box, to go down.
LOL! At one point I would have been shocked to hear this. Now, not so much. :oldrazz:

The celing on that category is too high IMO.
I loved how Niall Quinn said, Taking the ball into the corner and running the clock down isn't the Wigan way", 10 seconds after they did just that, lol.
:funny: I noticed that, do you think your team was a little flat tonight or just a case of Wigan playing out of their skin again?
Something like players diving to win things has been going on for ages, and has become part of the game, so therefore he doesn't agree with those players being called 'cheats'. While yeah, it may not be morally right, almost every team pulls of these sort of tactics when required in order to get the upper hand/result.
It puts the ****storm we and Eduardo got over diving into perspective. When others do it and have been doing it for ages, some making it an art form, and it having become part of the game to get results, but in turn not getting anything at the severity that we got in attention brought to them.
Ah I see, that was a situation that was ridiculously blown out or proportion, especially by Celtic who were trying to find a loophole to get another shot at qualifying for the CL.
Nial Quinn talked about retroactive reds for diving, but it's harder to prove than say a studs up challenge.

Well again, the gif makes an already terrible dive look worst but just because he was pulling his leg back doesn't make it ok that he had his leg sticking out in the first place. It's a dive but as a defender, you have to know have your leg out like that in the box is just asking for it. And until the FA does something about diving, players will continue to do it.

Which was sticking out. Again, I'm not saying it's not a dive but a player has the right to change directions on a dribble. If you leave your leg out, he's going to change direction right into your leg. It's a simple fact. It's a dive, not denying that but defenders need to be smarter. Watch the Gary Neville video, he explains it better than I do.

As for next week....Well, let's just see....lol.
Personally, I'd love to see Di Mateo go with Drogba & Torres up front as Barca will not be expecting that. Set up to get that away goal and we'd give ourselves a great chance.

The way Chelsea played tonight is more or less the defensive blueprint for beating Barcelona. From what I recall it's how Mourinho set Inter up to beat them a few years back.
Mimic their formation, have your 3 man midfield stay rigid & 'screen' Barcelona's central midfield ie don't go chasing the ball & leaving holes in the middle, only show them space down the flank as there is little to no threat of a cross actually being delivered into the box & in the same respect I would say the likes of Terry, Cole, Cahill etc would fancy their chances in the air against the likes of Messi, Iniesta, Fabregas, Sanchez etc..
Few teams have the capability of beating Barcelona by outplaying them & keeping the ball from them for really extended periods of time to make Barca work a little &/or to give themselves abit of a breather & in truth I don't think Chelsea would be included in that list as they don't tend to play that way even in the Premiership.. or at least they haven't the past few seasons. However Chelsea are more than capable of beating Barcelona & going onto the final.. so long as they don't try to play Barcelona at their own game. Play their own game, attempt to stay defensively rigid & sound, force them out wide & when they do get possession attempt to get it up field at speed to Drogba who if he brings his A-Game can bully that entier Barcelona defense.
Drogba was definatly the correct choice up front for Chelsea, made an excellent target man & held the ball up superbly. Pity he was showing signs of his old theatrical/playacting early days at Chelsea however seeing as it was against Barcelona who are very adept at doing the same thing I approve of him doing it.
It will be interesting to see how Barcelona set themselves up in the 2nd leg, I may be wrong but I've seen them a few times at home this past year & against some teams they seem to play 3 at the back in order to break certain teams down.

Risky to play two up top but it's going to be hard to contain Barca on the wide pitch at the Camp nou, I wonder though if Sturridge would be a better option than Mata for you on the break if he is willing to put the work in going the other way.

I have to say, Gary Cahill was the best I've ever seen him tonight. I shudder to think what David Luiz might have done in this game honestly.
Agreed he was excellent (and it hurts me to say it!) but to be fair to Luiz he's been brilliant for Chelsea recently. I thought Mikel played well yesterday aswell and who'd have thought that skinny no hoper from last year would turn into the awesome Ramires! For the 2nd leg I'd have Sturridge instead of Mata, he's at his best when he's got space to run into and on that massive pitch that could be key.

I'd have Torres playing wide. He has often been drifting out wide anyway and has put in some killer crosses from there as well (I think Torres also has a good record against Barca as well?)
Anyways, atm, he is playing great as a provider. He has still to find true form putting them away himself, though he has improved dramatically since AVB got his marching orders...as have most of the team it has to be said.

I agree but still, he has a tendency to being reckless. I could easily see him conceding a penalty from a poor challenge or drifting upfield at some point and leaving it open for a Barca attack.
Also, they have to be more careful in defense. At one point Iniesta got behind Cahill and he straight up pushed him off the ball in the box and Iniesta went down. At the Nou Camp, that will be a penalty.

Torres/Drogba doesn't work. I think when Torres was first bought they tried it, and it failed miserably. The best thing Chelsea can do is play defensively and pray that they don't concede too many.
Also, heard a rumour that City are interested in bringing Sturridge back to the Etihad, to replace Djeko whose going to leave this summer.

But do you have to just sit back? I mean Real tried everything to beat Barca and failed miserably, yet the one time they actually concentrated on their own game rather than Barca's they got a 2-2 draw. Same when Inter just threw out all of their defensive work after going 1-0 down and just battered Barca for 90 mins. Osasuna, Bilbao even Betis teams who have done well against Barca have respected Barca, but not to the point where it disrupts their own game.

Torres/Drogba doesn't work. I think when Torres was first bought they tried it, and it failed miserably.
The previous attempts are a bit invalid as Torres was badly out of form with or without Drogba (and Drobga wasn't exactly busting a gut in the games either). We have yet to see them play together when both Torres is playing well and Drogba is putting in a shift. Atm, we could just have that rare event.
And as I said, I'd have Torres playing wide. In the previous attempts they have both been central.
The best thing Chelsea can do is play defensively and pray that they don't concede too many.
They will obviously be playing defensively but they have to look at having the players out there that can get the away goal as well. Get that and Barca need to get 3. Sending out a team to try and hold on to the one-nil would be fatal.
Also, heard a rumour that City are interested in bringing Sturridge back to the Etihad, to replace Djeko whose going to leave this summer.
Well, I'd hope we keep him. Lad has a lot of promise and I expect Drogba will likely be on his way in the summer. Thing is for Chelsea this year he has never played in his correct position (AVB, utter arsehole that he was, decided Sturridge was a winger).

That's why you guys need an early goal. The timing of yesterday's goal was perfect. Right at the half, go and park the bus for the second half. Only thing I would worry about is Pique is pretty much guaranteed to start that game. So you're not going to be able to just have Drogba dominate Puyol and Mascherano. If you get a goal, it will have to come off the wing IMO.

From the sounds of it Victor Moses has ****ed Wigan over by announcing he won't sign a new deal. How lovely, Wigan give him regular PL football when noone else will, now that he's had a very good 3 months he thinks he can do better.
