I reckon they would be made not to put something in. Disney is interested in building franchises and what better way than by sneaking in a character into an already popular franchise even if it's just a role the size of Hawkeye's in Thor.
And what better boost for Danny Rand than Tony Stark?

Um....why?
I luh-huv Iron Fist, and I want to see him join the MCU, yeah; but how about cameos that make sense? Other than both of their first names being "Iron," Danny and Tony have nothing in common

Well both are CEO, if my memory works. Haven't touched an Iron Fist book for decades, but if they cameo Rand as a business partner of Stark Industries that might work. As long as it's not too distracting.

I don't see the point. IM2 takes flack because the cameos for some seem to derail Iron Man's own story, I don't see them keen to accommodate them in IM3.

I don't see the point either. but I'm not against it per se. as long as it's just a cameo (like hawkeyes in Thor) and not too distracting. if they go the Blac Widow route in IM2 it is definatly too much. the movie is called iron man (3), not iron man and his randomly visiting amazing friends

true
tho I can't really think of any characters (with movies coming out) that he would in fit with either

Sure, but I'm getting the impression from how they keep saying that it will be 'all about Stark' in IM3 because of how people viewed IM2, they will be a lot less keen to have others cameo that just don't need to be there.

Besides what R_Hythlodeus said, it's also because it seems most of the story of Iron Man 3 takes place in China which would work very well with the Iron Fist mythos

Yes, if he's going to have a movie or he's going to appear in Avengers 2.
But no, if not.

But now you're talking about something a heckuva lot bigger than a cameo. That really *would* make Iron Fist a major plot point and seriously steal Iron Man's thunder.
No thanks.

Oooh got it....
Have both rand and stark presenting something in China.
Have stark act like his usual self and revel in Rand's failed proposal. Then we show rand making a fist with whatever fist he normally makes an iron fist with and he leaves.
Then we have a separate Iron Fist movie that shows us what he was up to while in
, reuse the same scene from iron man 3 but obviously fucus more on Rand.
I also think the news reports during the ending of the avengers should be played during a Luke Cage movie. Have the prison guards watching it, just to give a sense of time

a simple mention of Rand industries by name would suffice.

Unless Marvel actually is planning on filming a movie with Iron Fist........no. Mentioning these guys is perfectly fine. Cameos can't just be for giggles.

Even though I'd kill for an IF movie, Danny having a cameo in IM3 would just be weird.

might as well. Cast a good actor and acrobat.

Wasn't Ray Park attached to Iron Fist way back in the day?

I think he might have been more of a fan favourite than actually attached to play him.

There's not really any point in having Danny make an appearance.
Someone else in this thread pretty much took the words out of my mouth: A mention if anything.
"In other news, Stark Industries took another hit today when they lost [insert contract name here] to Rand Industries. Bill, how's the weather report looking for the holiday weekend?..."
That is enough.
There's no need for Rand to show up and briefly use his power, even in passing, because then the general audience is going to be left wondering who that guy is/why his fist was glowing/when he's showing back up for the rest of the movie.

Beside a moment in the New Avengers,
what would he be doing in there?
Comparing "iron"? :)

Well for one, they're both businessmen. They could be competitors.
It wouldn't take a genius writer to make it happen without 'comparing iron'

its funny you mention this, not so much that its Iron Fist but Tony Stark having allies - other than pepper pots, happy hogan and jarvis - the only team member on his level is war machine but even war machine isnt really on his team.
So having Tony have allies (you dont want to use the avengers members as it would be too much like avengers) thing is who do you have, you want high profile characters that people will recognise - Iron Fist could be good they could play him in as some kind of Tony Stark sponsered brand... Like apple with iPhone, iPod.... Stark has Iron and thus Iron Fist could be his sponsorship into martial arts. (I do realise Iron Fist is already a tournement name for martial arts but how much money would tony stark pay to own that franchise)

The idea alone is great
Hope it happens
