3 years for 1000 posts, eh BG?. I guess that's because there was only one thread for Ghost Rider during the first 2 and a half years.

Hey dudes.I have a question for ya;

Who is the real Vengeance?:The Punisher:unishr: or Ghost Rider:ghost: ? Castle Or Blaze?

FlameHead
03-17-2005, 12:38 AM
To save myself from an endless debate w/ Punisher fans, I'll have to say that the real Vengeance is Michael Badilino.

BIGGUN
03-17-2005, 01:04 AM
I guess the real question is...which is true vengeance. a quick gunshot to the head or being alive and suffering w/ the pain that you have inflicted on your victims repeating like a record in your head over and over again.

death can be quick and at times painless...and there is no guarantee you will face justice in the afterlife (if there is one).
the Penance Stare will make you live Hell here on Earth...and if Hell is a real place there is no guarantee you still wont go there after you die. so basically you could be really screwed if you faced GR.

The Punisher isn't doing it for vengeance...it is for punishment. :)

Ghost Rider almost went to Thailand!! Check this story out from PHUKET GAZZETTE:

Tax breaks urged for movie makers

NAI YANG: Reducing taxation and slashing red tape could help revitalise the post-tsunami film industry in Phuket and surrounding provinces, a seminar heard yesterday.

Delegates to the meeting, organised by the Office of Tourism Development and the Thai Film Office, were told that scenes for 441 foreign films were shot in Thailand in 2004, generating revenue of around 1.13 billion baht for the country.

Phuket was the fourth most popular location for foreign film producers, after Bangkok, Chon Buri and Chiang Mai, and in past years Phuket, Phang Nga and Krabi together usually attracted about 100 film crews each year.

But this year, Thailand is likely to make only 10% of what it had made last year from location shooting of foreign-made films.

Thanitta Maneechote, Deputy Director-General of the Office of Tourism Development, said that, this year, seven producers in January and six in February had asked for permission to film in the Andaman region, but most of these projects were documentaries or advertisements. No one had asked for permission to film a big-budget feature film in Thailand.

K. Thanitta suggested that making it easier and cheaper for foreign producers to work in Thailand might persuade them to return.

She said, “Last year, we were approached by Hollywood movie companies wanting to shoot two films – Anaconda 2 and Ghost Rider – in Thailand, but the crews ended up going to Fiji and Australia respectively because those countries had reduced taxes on film making, and took only one or two days to decide whether or not the crews could shoot scenes in conservation areas and the like.”

She added that the movie The Beach had brought “a vast amount of money” to Krabi, where it was shot, not only directly in terms of what the film crew had spent on accommodation, food and other services, but also indirectly, because of tourists who visited Krabi after seeing the film.

Those taking part in the seminar, held at the Pearl Village Hotel, included Vice-Governor Winai Buapradit, Naritroj Fengrabill of the Foreign Ministry’s Department of Information and Charoemrab Kanejorn Na Ayutthaya, Deputy Director of Foreign Public Relations for the Tourism Authority of Thailand.

03-24-2005, 11:01 AM
Yup, you're right on that one. He was the pencil man for the first 14 issues, at least.. and he did an amazing job. The feel of the book was so awesome.

I just read in the new X-men article on Empire (http://www.empireonline.co.uk/site/news/newsstory.asp?news_id=16656) w/ Avi that there is a special movie feature coming to the site next week. The reason why I mention it here is because they mention that Ghost Rider will be talked about.

MSJ is mentioned in that article as well....

Well, partially worry no more, folks, for Empire just happened to be in LA this week. And inbetween running into the wonderful Mark Steven Johnson (and his lovely wife) in a Santa Monica toy shop (the Daredevil director assuring anonymity by, um, wearing a Daredevil baseball cap), and being attacked by bees, we took time out to visit the fine folks at Marvel, including the head honcho himself, Avi Arad. And we didn’t waste time in mentioning X.

My only question is "Why in the hell was MSJ in Santa Monica this week? Isn't he supposed to be shooting a movie?". Okay, that's two questions.

And here's a pic for today. Enjoy. See you guys tomorrow!

FlameHead

I can't see them taking a 6 week break after only being in production for 6 weeks. That doesn't make sense to me. Unless the first unit is taking a break and a 2nd unit is taking over for a while. That's possible I guess. Still, it seems weird. Even taking a week off for Easter seems weird to me...

It's possible that MSJ is instructed by the studios to not post on the boards anymore. These people like to keep things under wraps and probably wouldnt like him talking about the movie at all... only officially. I hope this isn't the case... and I kinda doubt it is because of the statements earlier about him working closely with the fans... which is obviously us.

As for the teaser, it's possible to have one ready at any time I would think. It doesn't have to involve any footage at all really. Just a flamey title shot would make me sweat hard and breath heavy.

Also, I returned to this costume website (http://www.buycostumes.com/searchresultsgridview.aspx?Keywords=ghost%2brider) and found a couple of new items there. The Adult costume was already posted here before by there are gloves there now and a Ghost Rider Staff thingie pictured below...

Howdy kids.
As of my last posting, I've added another Legends GR fig, (Still looking for that last chase figure...dammit) Bringing my collection up to a whopping 3.
I went ahead and got a set of 9 GR and Spirits of Vengance figures from back in '95. I got 2 of the Johnny Blaze era GR figures, so went ahead and opened one. (Ya know I had to. :))
As soon as I get my poop in a group, I'll try to get some pics, tho I'm not so sure how thats gonna work with them all still in the package. I thought about getting dupes of them all, but since I worked myself out of a good paying job, and am currently stuck in one that is well below my budget requirements, as well as my worth, I guess thats temporarily out of the question.
Anyone need a house built? Maybe an ad-on? Anything to help me support my GR addiction? I really need a fix.

Theres my two cents for the month.
Have yourselves a groovy kinda whatever it is where you're at.

Nice to see you around KB. It's been a while.

Those ML figures are hard to find... especially where I live. I'm lucky enough to have the one I have.

I did find some neat (useless) things over the week too, though. First up, a Ghost Rider Die cast colleciton dinkie. Yay. Next, a Ghost Rider Motorcycle collection motorcycle. Yippy. And finally, my favorite of the bunch, a Marvle Manga Twist motorized twist ems. Yee haw! They're pretty useless... but they're mine.

Found a tidbit of stuff here: http://www.theage.com.au/news/Business/What-a-champion/2005/04/04/1112489417912.html?oneclick=true

Devil of a time
After hiring rock band Killing Heidi for their staff Christmas party, the cool cats at AXA Asia Pacific may have their Collins Street HQ digs used for Nic Cage's new flick, Ghost Rider.

It's a tale of Johnny Blaze, who sells his soul to the Devil. To retrieve it, he must become the fiery Ghost Rider, an agent of vengeance and justice. Kind of symbolic of when AXA Asia Pacific chief Les Owen shook up the Aussie operations and annoyed Melbourne's old guard, all for the sum of $4 million.

Not much, but it's something.

I wish there were more news as things are really slow these days eh?

Can't tell you enough how much we love it here and how terrific the cast is. Nic is absolutely unbelievable. Not just an awesome Johnny Blaze but a fantastic Ghost Rider. It's more than I could have hoped for. So much of what we're doing feels lifted right off of the comic panel!

I can't tell you all much about what we're doing now, but what I CAN tell you is that we're releasing a photo VERY SOON and I made damn sure that SHH would be the first ones to see it. Only fitting, right?

well I HOPE its of Cage in his GR get-up...but realistically it will probably be just him in his human Blaze gear. maybe w/ his street chopper too.
they may want to hold off any photos of GR until we get closer to the release date
I'm hoping that MSJ proves me wrong though... :p

Hi guys! Sorry it's been so long since I've checked in. We're shooting mostly nights now and it leaves no time for anything but the making of the movie itself. Things are going awesome Down Under.

Stay tuned...

Awesome!!! thanks

Whoo-hoo! I'm ready to see this movie. I'm not surprised Cage has turned out to be fantastic. I've often thought he has a 'dark' side that he keeps under tight wraps and that we don't see it in his mainstream movies. Thanx for the update MSJ

What great timing on the visit. It was only this morning that I was listening to MSJ speak about DD. I watched the awesome directors cut for the first time w/ commentary; MSJ and Avi Arad together. I think Avi is awesome too, btw. He has so much passion for his job and has the most unbeliably real laugh. He's as awesome as MSJ).

Just reading this over again for the 500th time as I'm so excited that MSJ chats w/ us.

I'm so happy that he's excited and happy about Nic's work. A lot of us have been worried about that and now that he's confirmed his abililities, I feel great. We also have a confirmation on the fact that Nic is playing both roles and not just Blaze. That's pretty awesome.

"lifted right off the comic panel"; Doesn't that send chills down your spine? Awesome!!

So... I've been reading a lot on Vengeance lately. Just finished reading the majority of his arc in the Marvel Comics Presents title. There's a lot about the character that I didn't know and the stories were really good. I suggest reading them if you guys haven't already.

Snippet from empire on Hellcycle and GR

we have the first look – the first official look, anyway – at the Hellcycle that Nic Cage will be riding on screen next year when he becomes the Ghost Rider, in Mark Steven Johnson's film of the same name. And it's cool. Well, actually it's not cool, as the tyres appears to be on fire (that's the sort of traffic violation that's going to get you a ticket, mister), so it must be hot. But it's still pretty damn special. Not the kind of bike you'd be able to buy at your local Yamaha dealership, but this skull-handlebarred creation is the stuff of Hell's Angels' wet dreams. Which may just be the single scariest thought Empire has ever had.

Now, for those who may be slightly cynical about Ghost Rider, hear this: Johnson is especially stoked about the progress of his $100 million movie (he recently told Empire that the film was 'baadassssss', beating the record for number of S's in 'badass', previously held by Melvin Van Peebles' Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song by one), Marvel Films' chief Avi Arad couldn't shut up about it when we spoke to him recently, and we may (or may not) have seen some concept art of the bike in action that will knock your socks off. Trust us, Ghost Rider is going to deliver astonishing eye candy on a gargantuan scale.

IESB just posted a quick video interview w/ Matt Long (young Blaze).
check it out here: http://www.iesb.net/movies2/mattlonggrint.php

he said his part should be the 1st 20 min or so of the film. as expected he makes a deal w/ the Devil to save his father from cancer. the film then jumps ahead 18-20yrs w/ Cage in the Blaze role when Mephisto decides to collect.

now im wondering will he change into a early version of GR at the start of the film or will they save it for when Mephisto comes back 20 yrs later?
would be cool if they did i think. allude that GR has been seen briefly back in the 80s and returns 20 yrs later to go on another mission for Mephisto. during those years rumors and legends spring up among local Texas folk who remember seeing a flaming demon on a cycle made of fire.
if they do use a early version of GR i can see his outfit being similar to what he wore in the original series ... the classic dark blue/black leather jumpsuit

I like that idea BIGGUN. Picture this scene;
a fire is burning low as the old man finishes his tale of the fiery Ghost Rider that used to roam the highways in search of justice. (one of the guys jumps up and runs off on his motorcycle) Another guy from around the fire speaks up. "Look at that, Henry just ran of 'cause you scared him with our old wives' tale. It's just a legend, there's no such thing and never has been. I've been a paid assasin for five years and nothin's happened to me." (You hear a bike return, closly followed by another one) "Henry, why did you run off like that?" "He's coming! He's coming to kill us!" Henry screams. Suddenly chains wrap around Henry's feet and he s dragged out of the firelight. The other guy laughs nervously and says "really funny Henry, you had me goin' for awhile. Now get back here." Something moves in the shadows just outside the firelight and the Ghost Rider rolls into the firelight on his bike. "Oh ****" says the assasin and he takes off, closly followed by GR.

Another Wow... Special features on the DVD. Oh boy... just thinking about is almost too much for me to handle right now. This Ghost Rider movie is going to give me a heart attack yet, I'm so excited.

What I got from the interview was that he makes the deal with Meph when he's young but doesn't actually turn into Ghost Rider until he's Nic. Didn't feel nice to say old...

I'd think they'll have some incarnation of that jumpsuit. That's his trademark in a way. He's always had it.

Here, here. We're all dying to see the man/demon himself. I'll probably be a while before that happens though. They'll likely ride on the hype of the Cycle for as long as possible.

It sure is nice that new people are showin' up. MarvelMovies Biggun and myself were getting bored with each other. There was a long time that there was only this one thread and with just the 3 of us posting... keeping the GR hype alive.

dont think thats Zarathos...or at least the one that fought the Ketch GR. that is a image from the much maligned mini-series "Ghost Rider: Hammer Lane". Ketch wasnt mentioned in the book...in fact i think it completely ignored a lot of history from both books.
written by a person who admitted that she had no idea of what GR was about and decided to make up her backstory.
the Zarathos had a colorful (very x-men like) costume when he fought the K. GR in the 90s book. BUT i just found something at my parents house just last week. you remember the old action figures series from 95? well each figure had a mini-comic packed in w/ it that was a completely new story about the character that it was packed w/. one of the GR figures came w/ a comic where he fought the classic Blaze/Zarathos GR. not official canon i know but it did happen.
when i get a chance this weekend i will try and scan that particular issue and post some images. hopefully when MarvelMovies gets his site back up and running i can scan all of the issues that i have (missing just one) so everyone can read them.

The pic HR posted from hammer lane is the same pic the marvel knights encyclopedia uses to depict zarathos, even though I'm not the biggest fan of Trent K's style, I do prefer this depiction to the one used in the 90's(I hated that one).

The hammer Lane wasn't awesome, but it was ok. And i don't see how it ignored the first series story, obviously it ignored the ketch years, but I don't see how it substantially ignored Blaze history, but then maybe my memory is foggy, its been awhile since i read it. Also on a side note about HL, "her" story seems to me to have been lifted from the GR story that was in the 90's Kay-Bee Toys free giveaway GR collectors comic (I got off Ebay :) ) There are many similarities.

Those mini comics you talked about were great, except the 1st one where the writer had GR go after "russ" ie Rush Limbaugh. Being an evil conservative myself......that rather bothered me. i mean I wouldn't like it if GR went after Bill Clinton either, even though I'm an evil conservative, I just think they should leave all politics out of comics, they should be for everyone, IMO, not taking sides in the culture wars.
Oh, and that one issue your talking about that your missing BG, It may be the one that they never printed (i'll have to check which issue# it was). I thought I was missing one too, yet I had all the figures and looked through every one i saw in stores, yet i couldn't find it, so i called toybiz and the lady told me they decided not to print that one because "it was too demonic". Too demonic???? man I'd love to read that one :ghost:

From Thursdays Herald Sun:

"Ghost Who Walks

SPOTTED: Nicolas Cage and his pregnant wife Alice Kim browsing in Southgate jewellery store Cabochon last Sunday. His film Ghost Rider is shooting on and around the Southgate pedestrian walk bridge over the Yarra this week. In the film his character will ride his motorbike over the curved top of the footbridge, a stunt that will be generated by computer, and not expert motorbike skills."

So what do you think? Truth or rumour??

crystal_flame6

Good Find Mononoke
We know that GR takes a dip in the river and is followed by the police to the river. This sounds higly plausible. GR is trying to evade the police and jumps up on the roof so they can't shoot at him. The helicopter makes him go down to the only refuge left, the river.

InVictus

Uhmmm maybe he goes on the bridge like in a similar scene of the Punisher/GR crossover, when he climbs the bridge to scare his passenger to let him speak. Plus i don't think GR would "take a bath", but simply run away ON the river.
As seen in the mentioned crossover the hellcycle should be able to run over water.

the 1st team up...GR (ketch) #6 i think...
that is a good point InVictus....GR could simply ride on the water...
unless annoyed by the police shooting at him (and his human alter ego Blaze not wanting to see the police get hurt) GR grudgingly rides away from the police to avoid undue bloodshed. i dont know how wide the river is....maybe it would just be faster/easier for GR to simply jump the water rather than ride on it. maybe during the jump the police knock him into the water somehow and start shooting at the spot where he landed...

crystal_flame6

I read somewhere that the sceen has GR rideing along on the top of the bridge, and then people look at the water as if something is out in or on the river.

Nice find. Looks like Ghost Rider is gonna be totally digital... at least in this shot. They'll probably use a whole bunch of tricks.

thought i should post this info in here as well as the thread for the GR game...

this was a brief blurb from Avi Arad during today's Q1 2005 meeting:

"The upcoming Ghost Rider film starring Nic Cage will have a tie in with “choppers” according to Arad, as well as a “unique” video game (to be announced at E3), and “interesting” toy line – after which Arad referenced the Evil Kenevil toys from the ‘70s."

E3 will be held in LA this May on the 18th-20th.
hopefully they will have some images from the game and announce who will be doing it.

there was an interview w/ Avi Arad at empireonline about several upcoming Marvel flicks. he talks about GR for a bit....some interesting stuff.

"On Ghost Rider...
Nic [Cage] never looked that good, really! He's like Steve McQueen. He's big that guy. He just loves this. I've been into Ghost Rider with him for about 6 years. A real labour of love for him, for me. I have had nothing but Ghost Rider here, at my side, everything, every room, all over my house, I just love the Ghost Rider.

On the appeal...
I have to give Mark a lot of credit, he cracked it. It was always like a little bit of a weird complex story, it's like the Devil and Daniel Webster, but done in a way that makes it even more complicated, and Mark just turned it into the ultimate Western. It's sort of High Noon meets Shane and the Good, the Bad and the Ugly kind of a thing. It has an atmosphere. Well they do things with this motorcycle, that you wouldn't have thought you can do that with a machine! Like going straight up a skyscraper, and then what we call the Jesus ride. I won't tell you what it is! (laughs)

On the tone...
It has humour. The whole thing. I'm telling you, is really poetic because it's a love story. It's glorious, and Mark is like me, the schmaltz king. But at the same time there is a great mythology into it and it's an absolute hero story. "

has any body seen this i got this of that counting down website

What's it about? Ghost Rider is the story of motorcycle stuntman Johnny Blaze, who, seeking revenge for harm done to his one true love, makes a pact with dark forces to avenge the wrongdoing. By day, the Ghost Rider is a motorcycle stuntman able to perform superhuman tricks; by night he is transformed into a burning demon on wheels as he hunts down those who bring pain to the innocent.

I thought he got the zarathos seed stuck to him by making a pact with mephistoles to save his step dad not his one true love who I would take it to be his wife. Or am i worng

From SHH front page
afetr their convo with Avi Arad

Another film (http://superherohype.com/news/punishernews.php?id=3027#) he's really excited about is Ghost Rider (http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=7950), starring Nicolas Cage. "It's hot. I've been on 'Ghost Rider' now for seven years and with Nic talking 'Ghost Rider' for four. And we finally got it done. That was a very personal project, making it happen. Everything is great. It was worth the wait and [writer/director] Mark Steven Johnson absolutely performed magic.

Regarding the August 4th, 2006 release and promotions. "Right now it's August, if it stays that day... actually, promotions will start early, you'll start seeing teasers of stuff. To make events like that, you know, you can't wait too long."

About Nicolas Cage playing Johnny Blaze, he said "this is the one [for him], he's tattooed! But more importantly, he's a great Johnny Blaze. You can see the conflict and suffering, and the fun he's having with who he has become. There's nothing usual about this movie. It's all magic."

FlameHead
05-18-2005, 03:19 PM
All I gotta say in response to promotions talk is, how early is early? Will we see it start this early this year or early next?

Sounds like August isn't locked. Might get a early summer release afterall. Hopefull news.

... on another note, allbeit a Ghost Rider related one, I found some awesome comics in a local shop yesterday. I was so excited to see them that I almost fainted, I swear. You have to understand that I live in Newfoundland Canada (if you dont' know where that is, check out this thread http://www.superherohype.com/forums/showthread.php?t=125040). Not a lot of new (old) comics come to our shops becuase there's not a lot of comic buyers in the tiny city. Therefor no need to stock up, ya know?

Anyhoo, I came accross a few new Midnight Sons Unlimteds that I needed; Awesome. I realized then that new comics where about and of course, seeked more... which was no easy task as the comics are quite misorganized in this shop. I didn't care much when my eyes caught sight of some new Ghost Rider V2's. I coudn't believe it! There were 7 in total. That's huge considering there are very few that I need to complete the run. Man. I was so pumped, even though they were pretty expensive. I ended up finding 5 other GR appearances too, including Spiden-Man 93; the final appearance of Noble Kale/Dan Ketch Ghost Rider. Huge find. Huge.

So, the moral of this pointless story is... um... Vengeance is mine...

Ghost Rider Set Visit Preview
A quick glimpse of our visit to the Melbourne set of the comic adaptation.

(http://altfarm.mediaplex.com/ad/ck/2835-28650-10524-0?mpt=NquKv,bbjgeIobdvRbj)May 23, 2005 - Last week, the folks at Sony Pictures invited IGN FilmForce to visit the set of Ghost Rider (http://filmforce.ign.com/moremovies/objects/34107.html), the hotly-anticipated new comic book adaptation starring Nicolas Cage, Eva Mendes, Wes Bentley and Peter Fonda, which is directed by Mark Steven Johnson (Daredevil). The only catch: the set's in Melbourne, Australia, and there's a matter of two fifteen-hour flights required to get there and back. But the prospect of seeing Cage, Mendes, and the unbelievably cool Fonda prevailed, so before long we were on a plane headed down under.

The Melbourne Film Studio set itself is a mass of rubble – an 18th Century mission, to be precise – adorned with religious iconography and the remains of pews long ago abandoned. At the base of a dusty altar, four stand-ins awaited direction from production staff while the cinematographer and cameraman set up a climactic confrontation between Johnny Blaze (Cage), Black Heart (Bentley) and Mephistopheles (Fonda); the camera is to angle away from the actors and back slowly down a makeshift aisle as the actors stage their dialogue.

After a brief respite for lunch, the actors finally appear on set, decorated in requisite make-up and costume: Cage wears leather from head to toe, while Mendes trades Ugg boots for high heels as she takes her place next to him in businesslike attire; on the other side of the set, Bentley lies on the ground in dusty, dark clothing while Fonda stands over him, manicured in embroidered black pants, crocodile-skin boots and a dark knee-length jacket.

Cage and Mendes giggle at one another, then take their marks and do a perfunctory run-through of the dialogue and movement that will be required when cameras roll. Exchanging barbs with Fonda, who remains in place next to the altar, they quickly step out of frame, beyond the camera movements that are supposed to follow them. Cage, still uncertain of the rhythms that will cement the scene's effectiveness, turns to director Mark Steven Johnson, and says, "I think we need some help"; Johnson dutifully approaches and the quartet quickly works through the dialogue and movement to match the director's camerawork and make the scene run smoothly.

Watch for more stories about Ghost Rider on FilmForce in the coming weeks, including interviews with actors Cage, Mendes, and Fonda, as well as director Johnson and crew members Lizzy Gardiner (costume designer), Kirk Petruccelli (production designer) and Kevin Mack (visual effects supervisor).

The movie looks like it'll be something REALLY special. I think people will come and see it just because these big actors are involved. What makes me even more confident is the behind-the-scenes crew which is bursting with talent. FX, Camera, Costumes, Designers - all Oscar winners.

P.S> Someone spotted Cage preparing for a GR scene (hilarious): http://finishhim.blogspot.com/2005_04_01_finishhim_archive.html

Awesome find retro. That's some of the funniest stuff I've read in a while. Why would he be chanting that? Sheesh. What a weirdo. Actors. Crazy people.

But i can't find anything of GRII...The only page with spirits of vengeance related micro heroes (a Doc Strange site) has them all down.

guess by now you guys have read that short article/interview w/ Avi Arad. that one section about GR was interesting:

"Next up is the August 2006 release of "Ghost Rider," the big-budget Nicolas Cage movie Arad refers to as a "morality tale." The film faces the huge challenge of making a fiery, murderous, flaming-skull-headed creature sympathetic to audiences. Arad says it will have a PG-13 rating and a "Southern rock" soundtrack and ethos, and that one scene will feature the motorcycle-riding protagonist facing the unlikely challenge of a tidal wave. Arad also reveals that Nicolas Cage will face a tidal wave in Ghost Rider:

"I remember seeing 'The Perfect Storm,' how the whole wave was CGI. You're going to see something [similar] in 'Ghost Rider.' " While he reveals that Ghost Rider will, at some point, be entirely submerged, Arad vows that the infamous grinning skull will continue to flame on. "Nothing can extinguish it," he smiles. "It's hellfire.""

one of the demons is supposed to be made of water...Wallow i think. maybe this will be a scene where the demon tries to kill GR by putting out the hellfire. interesting

MTV got the "murderous" thing wrong....but that shouldnt be a suprise

That water scene/joke come directly from when Zodiak used the Acquarius ripping a water tube and directing the flow to submerge GR....Thinking he finally killed him he lit himself a cigar and tossed on the water the matchstick, but strangely(:D) it continued to burn...Zodiak came closer to see and the flame rised as GR came out of water making Zodiakf lee with nerve breakdown:D One of the best scenes of the Saltaires/Texeira era..

An awesome scene indeed.

I'm happy that this is the way they're going to show Hellfire's ability to stay lit. I mean, they need to show that's not normal fire and something out of this world.

Because this topic was started in it's own thread, I'll talk more about it there. Here, have a pic. I really like this one.

Woha, is that Nightmare on his horse? I don't remember that image... just seeing it it makes me realize how faithful the last promo pic is...the proportions of GR..the total black figure...amazing.
Just a little more on the water scene, i think it's a MSJ touch. It is one of the better scene of the comic book, only a true fan could think to use it...and succesfully blend it in the plot like this....i fear only to hope that there could be some more "classic" scenes like this...anyway, so this should be the reason of Wallow change...hmmm i think it is a good trade indeed.

Yup, that's good ol' Nightmare.

I really hope there are a nice blend of original ideas mixed with classic scenes. I'm sure MSJ won't let us down. Knowing this scene is in the flick, I'm truly getting excited to see what else could be there.

good question about the soundtrack...im not up on current rock bands....would any pass as "southern rock"?
when i read that southern statement by avi the 1st thing that came to mind was classic 70s rock. here is a link that has some examples:
http://www.shucks.net/linx/rock.htm

a few on there i can see having during the "slow" scenes like Blaze walking around the carnival or maybe just taking a ride on the streets. but i cant see any of that for actions scenes w/ GR...that HAS to have heavy "monsterous" type of music. something that will get your blood pumping and your ear drums ringing ...heh. i just cant picture GR trashing some evil dude's face to the tunes of "lynard skynard".
i cant see the soundtrack being all 70s classic or all modern....if they want to sell the most copies of a soundtrack cd it would have to be more likely a mixture of both.....but i personally would prefer it to lean towards the classic stuff ..heh
maybe Avi was being a bit general in his statement...

Southern rock? It seems like a Linnyrd Skinnird type of thing.

great pic (hulk/gr)

and actually there was 1 other time they fought that I recall. I believe it was Vol.1 issue #11. GR won if memory serves me correctly. GR surrounded hulk with fire, thus burning all the oxygen around Hulk so Hulk couldn't breathe, essentially suffocating Hulk.

Nice said, FH.
The threads and topics spread so much, but this is the original one, for sure.
But you have to admit: it´s so much happening, almost every day.
And the threads appears in the same level.
Jesus, man. I almost cannot believe this is real.
My passion for the demon is inside me since 1990, when came the news of the return of the character to the comics, totally revamped.
New look, new powers. Chains, leather, spikes, the awesome new Hellbike.
Even now i heve the yellow little piece of my city´s tabloid that reports the triumphant return.
I remember some old CAPITÃO AMÉRICA comics here in Brasil, with tales of the Original Ghost Rider in the 80´s, but i was just a child.
Since 90 i collect all. Comics, t-shirts, statues, toys, cards, everything.
1998:title ended, that way. And end without an end, if you know what i mean.
I though it was the end of the character to the media in general.
2000:Hammer Lane.??????????????? Why?
And cames MSJ and his project for the movie.
News, new sites, another comics comeback ( Garth Ennis, my god! ), new toys, a video-game.
Like i said, it semms like a dream come true, after years of sorrow and broken hope.
It´s our age.
No colorful heroes. Dark times, dark heroes.
I´m happy, dude.
Ghost Rider means a lot to me, i´m a 15 years long crazy-absolute-loyal fan.
I just hope my heart holds until august, 04.

FlameHead
07-17-2005, 08:10 AM
Yeah, I've been a huge fan for a very long time as well and I'm extreamly happy that it's he's finally returning from the pitts of hell... which is exactly where Marvel sent him. Not printing the final issue and giving us Hammer Lane was insulting.

But... they are making up for it now, so it seems. MSJ is going to do a lot for this character... as will Ennis. I just hope we get an ongoing out of it.

So, about this thread, if you guys just pop in here daily and talk about random things, like one of those lounge threads, it would be fun. Like, keep it open in a new window and keep refreshing it. Is that a waste of time, ya think? I mean, we spend so much time together talking about Ghost Rider, how about we get to know about each other a little further.

Hey dudes...
CHUD.com just released a new interview w/ Avi Arad and he talks on GR for a bit..interesting thing was that Arad and Mark were getting so discouraged about the movie being put on hold time and time again they almost gave up. they were talking about doing a TV series instead!

A Ghost Rider TV Series would've been an interesting fortay...

But, a $100 million blockbuster movie with Nic Cage... I think is a bit better.

:D

...

Also, for those wanting to read the David Goyer Ghost Rider Script... won't have to wait much longer.

I'm currently in the process of typing it up.. about 40 pages in (of 122)... so it's taking quite some time. I consider myself a pretty fast typer, and it still takes about 6 min / page.. and an hour for 10 pages... approximately. With all the capitalization, tabbing, underlining, centering, aligning... and getting it just how Goyer has it... is taking a bit longer then I expected... but I'm going to finish it.

Just a couple more days... I may have it up by tomorrow night for a Thursday update.

:D

Can you also make a list of things that were faithful and unfaithful...right or wrong? Know what I am saying? If you can I appreciate it.

FlameHead

I think that's something we can all decide when we have a chance to read it. It think MM is doing enough work with typing it up for us. That's just crazy... and we thank you fro it.

For people who physically can't leave the hype, here's the snippet from the CHUD interview...

Q: Marvel has a huge upcoming slate. Ghost Rider is what you’re here to promote this weekend – when is that coming out?

Arad: Ghost Rider is going to be August 06, unless things change. The movie wrapped. It’s now in post-production. It’s a movie we’ve tried to make for a long time, actually with the same team. Mark, Nic and myself have been into this – actually at one time Mark and I started to give up on the movie and looked into doing a live action television show but then we pulled out. Don’t give up!

Nic has stuck with it and been great. We wanted to have a certain tone, we didn’t want to have just the dark side, especially when you have Nic Cage. It’s a unique ability by him to do quirky stuff. It’s not just about life sucks. The whole idea about Ghost Rider is that it takes a minute to turn and a lifetime to turn back. It’s our Devil and Daniel Webster.

Q: It’s a redemption story.

Arad: It’s a redemption story, yes. We want to do it in a way that we can get a large audience. There’s a light side to the movie. There are very few actors who can deliver the casangst that Johnny Blaze has, but when he looks at his own situation can laugh at destiny any embrace his own calling, if you will. Say, it’s not so bad, I can deal with it. And then he gets a girl. All of our movies they get the girl in the end.

I'm very happy that they didn't give up. Yay for MSJ and Ava Arad for seeing this project through.

I wouldn't mind having a TV show too though...
