What the heck happened to the threads????!!!

FlameHead
07-29-2005, 09:59 AM
I figured that was going to happen.

Damn, that sucks. That was giving us a lot to talk about.... and plus, the damage is done now. Some of us have the file saved.

FlameHead
07-29-2005, 10:04 AM
I'm sure some of them can find there way online.

They should release an official statement to us or something. At least the people of the Hype should.

FlameHead
07-29-2005, 10:06 AM
I'm sure they're working on getting it taken down as we speak.

Very sudden. To be expected, but sudden. I'm gonna PM a mod...

At least we know for sure the True Trailer will be way more better.
That footage could have only damaged the expectations....just look at aintitcoolnews...

FlameHead

True... but A LOT of people were diggin' it too...

What I loved most about it was that it gave us something to talk about...

FlameHead
07-29-2005, 10:11 AM
Me too... and it's hard for me to get any more excited that I am for this movie. All hype is good hype.

Somebody official from the hype should let us know what's going on. I hope they do.

That's right, it kind of shocked me to see good reviews at AIC.

I think that the music company took the opportunity to show the good work they are doing...the score was really good imho.

FlameHead
07-29-2005, 10:14 AM
I agree. The score kicked ass and I hope it remains asskickery in the flick.

All the other sites still have the information about the trailer there. Why was the hype picked on?

Probably because Sony received some advise from here.
Or because SHH is way more important.

FlameHead

I'm sure SHH gets far more visitors than the rest...

... and we all know important people visit here, including MSJ himself.

I haven't posted on here except I think twice. I guess I'm more of a wait till 3 or 4 months away type of guy. Anyway, I was looking through a few things and found this. I'm pretty sure it probably has been posted but I'm a big fan of good art and pen and ink and I thought this extremely good black and white. If posted apologies. Otherwise as a Ghost Rider fan it's worth sharing.

That there, is concept art by Bernie Wrightson when director Steven Norrington (LXG) and Screenwriter David Goyer (Blade trilogy, Batman Begins) were attached to the project a few years ago.

Still awesome to take a look at though.

He has quite a few concept art pictures of GR...

Hehe, there ya go from the source!

:D

But, why did SHH just get targeted and the rest of the sites have the trailer link still posted?

Is it due to the popularity of SHH / CS?

Sony and SHH have a great relationship. We didn't get "targeted", they just simply told us that the clip wasn't meant to be online. It was just for Comic-Con.

FlameHead
07-29-2005, 02:13 PM
Awesome and completly understandable. Thanks for getting back to us and letting us know that.

It's too bad that it was released to us, if it wasn't mean't to be. I mean, I'm glad that I got to see it but, I could have waited until an officially released one.

It did get us very hyped though... so whatever they're doing, it seems right. Thanks again.

I still haven't taken any new pics...

I had a great Ghost Rider day yesterday though. I went to my local comic shop, cuz I haven't been there in months. I wanted to make sure that I had a copy of next months Ghost Rider release saved for me. Gotta make sure it's there cuz all those fans are gonna rip it off the shelves. hehe.

Anyway, I noticed that they had some new back issues for the first time in a very long time... and a lot of them I needed. Of course, now that I'm out of a job, I couldn't really buy what I wanted. I did manage to pick up a few Dan Ketch crossovers I need though; Cloak and Dagger 17 & 18, Deathlok 10, Midnight Sons Unlimited # 3, and Marvel Holiday Special 1.

Awesome!

Now, I'll get on those pics... after I read these comics. hehe.

I'm so hyped up to see this movie! Finally,Ghost Rider, one of the most kickass characters in the Marvel Universe, gets his own movie! But I have some questions:

1-First,and most important:has Mark Steven Johnson learned his lesson from "Daredevil"?I mean, can we really trust the guy who directed "Jack Frost"(note that it was not the cool horror movie, but the lame Michael Keaton one)who make the charascter justice?

2-Is Ghost Rider gonna use The Penance Stare? For me,I don't care what his secret identity is called,Ghost Rider MUST use the Penance Stare. It's what defines him. What makes him so powerful and lethal. And it's the only way he can say his catchphrase.

3-Is Mephisto,The Devil,gonna be a man in a bussiness suit(ala "Constantine" and "The Devil's Advocate")?

Or is he gonna be a big,red demonic monster(ala "Spawn","Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey"and "Fantasia")?

4-Does Blackheart has an evil master plan to take over or destroy the world(like in "X-Men" or "Spider-Man 2")?

Or is he gonna go around killing random people(like in "Fantastic Four" and "Hulk")?

5-Do we get to see Nicholas Cage's face burn and melt to reveal Ghost Rider's skull?

7-Every Marvel movie has a rock band performing the main song in the soundtrack(Velvet Revolver in "Fantastic Four",Guns and Roses in "Hulk"etc.)

Which band is signed on for this movie, and whivch song are they gonna sing?

8-And,finally,how are the special effects gonna be like?I know that some say that Ghost Rider should be CGI,but a film school in my country has a really cool GR costume that looks life-like,so what's gonna be?

Mr Nick

Hmm. Not sure you needed to create a whole new thread for your questions, Agustinaldo. Most of the answers you're after can be gotten by reading through the other ones.

Anyhoo, I'd point you in the direction of 'Ask MSJ...part 2' for some straight from the horse's mouth answers and some really exciting info on what's going to be in the film. The thread regarding the Comic Con footage is also worth checking out, as it tells you what we've seen of the flick so far. And also check out Marvel Movie's Flamebits which is always informative (great gallery too).

http://www.digitalentropy.net/Internapse/page/gr/fb04.html

Finally, Daredevil Director's Cut is better than the cinema cut, so have faith in MSJ. And the Penance Stare is most definitely in (Yeesssssssss!).

;)

why is it that everyone is trying to compare MSJ's Daredevil to Ghost Rider, which has nothing to eash other. Its Basically two totally & completely different movies & character. First off, DD is limited on what he can do, & GR deal w/ the supernatural world, which means u can get away w/ alot more stuff then DD, even though DD has always been doing more stuff that people who already can see normally.

Time to dust this thread off...heh
found this small bit o' news on the current status of GR....nothing major but just that we may get to see a moving shot of GR on film very soon. also they havent decided on a composer yet...

http://www.comicscontinuum.com/stories/0508/25/index.htm

"It might not be too long before fans get their first glimpse of the Ghost Rider from the upcoming film.

At last month's Ghost Rider panel at Comic-Con International, writer/director Mark Steven Johnson presented a clip without the actual Ghost Rider, simply because principal photography had only recently ended and special effects to create the character weren't complete.

Since that time, the Spirit of Vengeance has begun to take shape, producer Gary Foster told The Continuum.

"We have seen the first iteration on Ghosty himself and the result was very exciting," Foster told The Continuum. "SPI (Sony Pictures Imageworks) and Kevin Mack are doing a great job."

Foster said that post-production on Ghost Rider is "going great."

"Mark is hard at work on his cut," he said. "We are expecting to see something in the next weeks."

Foster said that the filmmakers have yet to decide on a composer to score Ghost Rider.

The film -- starring Nicolas Cage, Eva Mendes, Wes Bentley, Peter Fonda and Sam Elliott -- is targeted to be in theaters next summer.

"All in all, we are on schedule and feeling very good about how all aspects of the film are progressing," Foster said.

Look for more on Ghost Rider soon here in The Continuum."

Found a little bit on GR here; http://www.canmag.com/news/4/3/1858

Ghost Rider has received a lot of easy hype just by having a cool cast [Nicolas Cage] and the fact that it is another comic book adaptation. An early trailer was posted online but later pulled as it was meant only for comic con. We have still a lot to see from this film, especially that of an official shot of the Ghost Rider skull on fire; something Mark Steven Johnson [director] is still working to figure out. If they can make Nicolas Cage look half as cool as the teaser poster, then we may have another one of those few comic book adaptations that raise the bar on film just a little bit higher.

Great job keeping this thread going FH:up:

who's that GR has hold of ?

That's Death Ninja. He came back to get Ghost Rider for killing him early on in the run. Probably issue 2. I think it was Marvels way of justifying the character killing somebody when later he swore to not be able to do so. They just made him a demon of some sort.

BIGGUN
09-05-2005, 10:55 PM
yup...Death Ninja. ive always thought of that story line as a cheap way to get GR out of the fact that killed a human in those 1st 3 issues.

BTW...and a bit off topic...Toy Biz is supposedly going to release a box set of Marvel classic monsters next year. Dracula (from Tomb of Drac), Werewolf by Night, Frankenstein, and one other (which the site couldnt name).
this and the fact that Marvel is starting to use monsters again in the comics (and even releasing collections of the old monster stuff) it looks like since GR is getting his movie will mean some more media attention to Marvel's other old horror titles. great news indeed....hopefully Morbius wont be far behind

MS wont come back like they originally did...but i think they will be back in some form or another by the looks of things. there is already a new monster book coming out called "Howling Commandos"....no one from the MS though but its a sign that Marvel wants to start getting back into the monster biz.
as far as the 4th fig goes im thinking it will either be "The Living Mummy" or the Zombie character from "Tales of the Zombie". either of those 2 would fit...i would lean towards the Mummy as the 4 pack sound like the Marvel version of the classic monsters.
I do hope that Toy Biz would release a classic "Legion of Monsters" box set. they can redo the recent GR figure w/ the blue outfit only this time give him a full blazing skull this time (unlike the recent variant from Marvel Legends), as well as a classic Morbius, w/ a classic Werewolf by Night and Man Thing. who knows....maybe if the 1st set does well it might happen.

FlameHead

Well, I certainly would love a rivival of the Monster characters in the Marvel universe. After all, that is exactly what my entire collection revolves around. I desperatly trying to get the whole history of the horror side of Marvel. It's gonna take a while, especially the older stuff but, I have the rest of my life to do it. I almost have the 90's stuff complete and that's a start.

I'm sure the toys will sell well. Everyone loves the classic monsters and with that, I hope your right in them releasin' some GR toys. Though, I guess we have no worries about that with the movie comin' out next year.

But the flames just don't realistic enough. I know that CG flames are hard to create , but movies have come a long way and they've finally begun to get it right.

Much better than the over-kerned metallic one they showed a few weeks back.

Mr Nick

Well, the metallic one is the one that was used on the Comic Con footage. And I think it was on MSJ's cap. I reckon that'll be the winner in the great and much-debated logo race.:ghost:

No, sadly the metallic one is the one they're using for the movie. Throughout the production, they used just about every one of the already known logos but now the promotions have all used the new hot roddy one.

Hey all! Did not know where else to post this soo... I am obviously brand new here and joined these boards specifically because of Ghost Rider. Now I admit up front that I have read only a handful of the comics when I was a wee one and don't generally read comics just because I don't have the patience to follow a character through hundreds of issues. The only comics I read on a regular basis are shorter running stories like Steve Niles' Bigfoot and Remains, some Hellboy and things along that line. Mainly a horror comic guy. In fact if anybody has any suggestions for me about Ghost Rider TPB's and the like let me know.

That out of the way from what little I can remember and have picked up the FAQ The Rider seems like the most badass Marvel character at least in terms of character design and I come to these forums as a MOVIE fanatic, not much a comic fanboy. That said I would be lying if I said that most of my interest comes from the visual look of the character and powers and that fact that Nic Cage is my second favorite actor(behind Al Pacino) and that Eva Mendes is the absolute Sexiest damn thing in Hollywood as far as I am concerned. Sam Elliot is a beast and Peter Fonda should make a great Devil..again the concept and the cast have me pumped. So...again Hello and bring on July 14.

think Vengeance is starting to ship right now...should be some delay before it gets to stores though.
Trapster was holding a small explosive...and he as right in front of some barrels of fuel. the hellfire was safe since it could be used to either burn someone's soul or damage like actual fire. pretty handy stuff that hellfire ..heh

and welcome Kuato....i recommend you getting the Essential Ghost Rider collection TPB..its coming out either this month or next. you should be able to order through amazon. it collects alot of the 1st issues of the 70s GR...which is a great place for you to start. there is also a TPB of the 90s GR...that collects the 1st 9 issues i think. dont know if its still in stores though.

While X3 does have a teaser poster out I was referring to Dark Horizons having a teaser Trailer description for X3. This got me to thinking that maybe the Ghost Rider marketing team should at least get a poster ready by Halloween...after all only two months or so seperate the two film's releases dates. The X3 teaser Poster has been out for a couple/few months already...I remember seeing it in August at least.

I think that's a sound idea. The marketing guys really should exploit the spooky, supernatural vibe of Ghost Rider. There's so many superhero movies these days, it's vital each one stands out. Doing that would set him apart from Superman and the X-Men.

And although I agree with Flamehead that a trailer on The Fog would be cool, I don't want them to rush it and do a half-assed job. Next time I see footage, I want Ghost Rider in it. I want Ghost Rider screaming along on his hellcycle, whipping his chain around and kickin' some boot-ay!

WHEELS of FLAME

What Will be better next summer???

This year soon to pass has offered us some great movies like Sin City , Hitchikers Guide to The Gallaxy, Star Wars. Sadly and shamefully enough, i haven't seen either Batman or Fantastic 4. But i know they are both worth buying!!!!! V for Vendetta, has my attention and i am eager to see how it turns out.

This summer quickly approaching has already blessed us with glimpses of possibly being a better year for comic related movies. As a X-men fan to the deepest core of my hart, i anticipate this years X3 to be nothing less than what the previous 2 has offered us. :cyclops: I say this, despite remembering how a little tear formed in my eyes during X2, when Jean Grey/Famke Jameson showed the signs of the Phoenix. X3 will according to rumors deal with this storyline, one of the greatest X stories ever, and even one of the best comic stories ever told as well. Even almost 30 years later and a new touch, this movie will i'm sure be no disappoint. So few movies ever see the trilogy status, and even fewer see trilogies that are actually worth there predecessors. My only hope is that this will not be the last one. So many stories that deserve the big screen are awaiting film. My only hope is that i don't go to far into shock before i get to see Ghost Rider. :ghost:

Besides Spider-man, this character (GR) was my first love. Spider-man was first only cause i've been watching it since i was in the crib (27 now) and the first comic i ever owned was a copy of Amazing Spider-man which my best friend gave to me when i was around 12 or 13 years old. Then came Ghost Rider!!!! Still one of the best days of my life (a boring uneventful life i know, lol) was when i picked my first copy of GR. Since that day i have been a loyal fan to it and the Marvel Universe. My opinion is this will be the best comic film (maybe even film) of 2006. Nicolas Cage, was a little bit of a shock for me first, but since seeing the released footage, i have no doubt he is the best to play the part. Mark Steven Johnson, has shown such dedication and emotion to the film and character that i truly think the viewers will relate to it upon watching it. I can feel the heat already, i'm only glad i have X3 to keep me from pulling my hair and teeth out. Unfortunately both films hype will be over shawoded by the expected blockbuster Superman.

As a big lover of the Marvel Universe, i have had little time for DC and their characters/comics. Batman is hands down their coolest hero, because simply he is human like me and you. Just unfortunately a little bit wealthier than most of us if not all of us, lol. But i know where to give respect where its due, and a character doesn't survive as long as Sup's have by being over rated. With the classic films from the 70's and 80's, to the animated series, to perhaps one of the best comic shows to date, Smallville. I I have enjoyed Superman just as i have Spider-man, by watching from the bars of my crib as a wide smiled toddler. However despite its great history, i believe (and its just an opinion) that this upcoming Superman event will leave fans and general movie goers scratching their heads in disbelief that they wasted $10+ to watch a 2hr movie that like their (DC) continuity will confuse all. I like to support all comic/fantasy/sci-fi films released. But i just can't see me schilling that kind of cash, much like that of the ever embarrasing CatWoman. I in many ways hope i am wrong.

The best movie i seen so far this year was hands down Sin City, but Hitchikers G2G was a close 2nd. Like the great comic films from that past :unishr: :hellboy: i think Ghost Rider will fall into order as those before it and take the title of A Kick Ass movie worth watching for the rest of your life.

Finally this brings me to the reason i started this thread (if that is if your still with me). What do you the people who matter the most have to say about next summers line up. Will the best be one of those i have mentioned, or will it be something that i haven't (don't even say Eon Flux, i am very saddend to what i have seen so far). At least i think we can be certain it won't be as bad as that of the films that took a wrong direction to the $9.99 piles.:daredevil :batman: (batman & robin i refer to here!)

Let the world and me know please as without you there would be no movies at all!!!!! Thanks for reading all, and please most importantly!!!!!! Enjoy what you want to enjoy and don't let anyone including me defer you from doing so.

Supes and X-men will probably make more money as they already have a following and most people don't even know GR exists, but if they all opened on the same night and Xmen and Super man were free I'd still pay to see Ghost Rider. They need to start getting Ghost Rider into the public eye NOW! So people are going Whoa dude did you see that Ghost Rider trailer at the theatre? (0r picture or whatever) Man I can't wait to see that. That Bike should be at every bike show, a poster in every leather and bike shop, get the toys out now, air the cartoon episodes he's in.

Oddly enough I sort of started a thread like this over at Chud.com

http://chud.com/forums/showthread.php?t=85482

Brett Ratner may surprise me with X Men 3 but to date he still has not directed a good film let alone a good action set piece. Combine that with the fact that X3 is being super rushed and has added so many new characters it may really be a recipe for disaster on Fox's part.
Supeman has a great director but to me the casting seems very odd...I mean I never read the comics but having seen the older movies Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane? I guess we'll see. I will say that as good as Singer is it is hard to strike gold twice(or really a third time after X2) especially when translating beloved material.

Now of course due to the fact that I am really amped for Ghost Rider I may be biased but Sony is handling the property and they did wonders with Spider-Man and Hellboy. They really supported the properties and gave them every chance to succeed. Throw in a great cast, add in the fact that MSJ is at least supposed to be getting a great deal of support and free reign over the project unlike when he did Daredevil at Fox and a unique concept and I think Ghost Rider could really be successful on both the creative and box office fronts.

Yeah, it would be awesome to have it taped but then again, taped recordings of live shows never look and feel the same so it's probably a good thing. You should hop on a plane, fly to Newfoundland and check it out. hehe.

The first show wasn't sold out no but out of the 1000 plus seating about 700 were there. Our show today was sold out, mainly because it was a performance for the high school kids (who are coincedently readin' the novel in one of their classes. Brilliant timing). They were a great audience too. When I (as Arthur) staked Lucy and hammered into her heart, they all freaked out, cheering and clapping. I'm not sure if they had something against pour Lucy or not but, it was a great feeling.

7 more to go and then Arthur is put to bed...

Ghost Rider has yet to be revealed!

There have been several shots released of Cage as Johnny in his biker gear and there was some footage shown on Entertainment Tonight which may have been him as Ghost Rider. Problem is, you can't tell whether he's Johnny or GR til they add the skull.

There was no Ghost Rider shots in the ET stuff nor the Comic Con footage... however some of the shots may turn out to be Ghost Rider after the Digital process is through. For example, the end scene in the CC footage w/ the cop. Right now, it's a regular bike riding down the road before BOOM; cop goes flying. That may be turned into the hellcyle with GR ridin' it. Who knows?

... This really has nothing to do with your question does it? Um, no... no shots of GR yet.

I am a fan and that is my point of view. Those movies didn't suck because of they rating they sucked because of poor script, bad direction, etc. Batman Begins could have been an R but they kept it at a PG-13. Why? It means a bigger audience which means more money. If they make it an R it decreases the chances of money and that means less of a chance for a sequel and we don't want that now do we?

Wow, she's really cute man. Nice find... but, what the hell is a New Reader?

I think it means TV News reader, anchorwoman, TV journalist.
Maybe she plays a character like Linda Wei...

Hey, that would be awesome if she was Linda Wei... though she's obviously not of that nationality.

Thats some nice work, those flames look really amazing. I'm sure someone will post this has nothing to do with Ghost Rider blah blah blah. A van done with Ghost Rider on the side and the wheels (of the van) done as the wheels of the bike would be neat, if you get what I mean.

Did anyone see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? I watched it the other day, and it almost looked like on of the kids was wearing a Ghost Rider shirt. There was never a really good shot of it, but it looked to me like a flaming skull. Sweet.

I seen the movie but It was when it was in theatre. I don't recall seein' a kid with a GR shirt on though. I'll have to give it another watch.

Yeah, that's an awesome pic. It's from the first issue of the current mini. I was gonna make a wallpaper out of it just the other day actually.

In other news, I just got back from my local comic shop. Finally picked up issue #3... though I haven't read it yet. That's not the cool thing though, my poster came in recently as well. It's the one that was released with the start of the current mini and is the same as the cover of #1. It cost me 10 bucks but it looks pretty awesome in big size. It'll be an fantastic addition to my comics room that I'll soon have when I move into my new home. Can't wait!

A little bit of something taken from an interview with Donal Logue where he mainly discusses "Tennis, Anyone?"; his newest film. The interview did ask one question about GR though.

Is "Ghost Rider" going to suck? If so...how bad?

I hope not, I had the greatest time. Nic (Cage) was in tight leathers the whole time and (of course) we immediately took it to an Elvis/Tom Jones kind of homoerotic place of humor between takes that busted us up. He was really disarmingly funny and smart and the director, Mark Stephen Johnson, besides Mark Ruffalo and Mark Waters is the NICEST man in show business.

Something in the back of my mind kept say July 14 why July 14, then it came to me, In the movie Con Air Cameron Poe was to see his daughter on July 14 after his release from prison, The Jailbird flight took place on July 14, & in France July 14 commemorates the liberation of seven in mates from the Bastille prison (Bastille Day).

Retro, I've no idea how you find these things, but please keep it up!

Those two effects guys certainly have pretty reassuring credentials. I hated the Matrix sequels and Godzilla (well, the oversaturation of humour in it), but I wouldn't ever knock the effects.

I just can't wait to see some footage with completed FX. Roll on trailer!!

No problems guys!! Yeah the fx is going to be top notch. MSJ got a fantastic behind-the-scenes crew for this movie thats for sure.

I didn't know much about Ghost Rider before i heard they were making the movie a few years ago so i'm still learning about it. I'm surprised it has such a big(diehard) fanbase.

I think Ghost Rider's biggest strength and maybe the key to his enduring appeal is his unique look. He really does stand out from most other comic heroes.

:ghost:

FlameHead
11-30-2005, 11:55 AM
Oh, most definatly. The look alone is gonna draw crowds to the movie, no doubt about that. As MSJ says, he's the coolest lookin' character in the Marvel Universe. People will definatly be interested.

A pic you say? Sure, here's one.

I found this little article on The Economic Times here; http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/quickies/msid-1322938.cms.

It's mostly about the bike and has pictures of it on every page. It spreads over a few pages so I'm gonna post the article here. Go see the pics yourself...

This bike looks pretty cool. But is it a real machine that you will ever get to lay hands upon? While the answer to the first question is yes, you may perhaps never get to ride it for it may never get productionised for commercial sale by its maker.

But doesn't this piece-de-resistance look just too cool! Even more so when the movie's hero appears from a locked up garage riding the superbike in the upcoming movie ‘Ghost Rider’.

Both the machine and the rider look almost invisible against the darkness of the background. Soon we are sharing the rider's-eye view at speeds you can barely believe as he blasts his way through the traffic leaving the city at jaw-dropping speed.

Can it all be true? Is this some incredible computer wizardry? No, it's all for real. The Ghost Rider is at work!

Is `Ghost Rider’ a motorcycle myth, a menace to other motorists, or is the rider a master of his craft? Perhaps, all three at once as the 'Ghost Rider' performs so convincingly in this remarkable Scandinavian film.

Looks like this guy just escaped from a high-security lunatic asylum!

The rider is none other than Nicholas Cage, a super hero in the flick. He will play Johnny Blaze, a circus motorcycle stuntman who, after a series of tragic events, is tricked by Satan into becoming the Spirit of Vengeance a.k.a. the Ghost Rider; a flame-skulled, motorcycle-riding demon.

A bike like that is not known for its specs, the engine power etc, but for the sheer looks that make it totally stunning, one that would most certainly get the right of way at any intersection.

It is being featured first and foremost as the publicity machine for this action-packed flick. Going by the looks, this mean machine is surely set to put the big screen on fire! Likely to be a much bigger head-turner than Nicholas Cage himself.

The machine looks incredibly shiny and menacing up close, with detailed weld-work and one-of-a-kind customization.

Though we'll have to wait until August 4, 2006 to check out Nic Cage in the movie, bike is going to be the central character of this $75 million Hollywood cine fantasy.

Couple of interesting points. It says $75 mill... but it also says Aug 4th, 2006, which we know is wrong. I do like the fact that they plan on using the bike as a major marketing tool. Makes sense.
