darthbakpao... those are bloody nice. Jeeze, perfect composition and everything, the only negative is that the real posters can't be like this because Spider-Man 2 already did it. I like the first best. I really think it's unneccessary to have anything on the back of the cape, and the golden light is much more optimistic.

I've got a challenge open to anyone who wants to do it.

A Superman teaser poster, in the format of the recently released Batman Begins one.

Superman, in profile and in silhouette, facing the *other* way as Batman, looking *up* instead of down and with blue sky/white coulds instead of murky brown. I want it obvious that he's floating (i.e. I want to see his feet not touching anything) and it has to clearly be Routh's profile in silhouette. Superman symbol at the bottom with the title, just for the purposes of the excercise, being "Superman Returns".

I guess a viable alternative to blue sky, maybe a better option even, is a golden sky like darthbakpao's first manip up there.

These Spiderman based ones look great with him floating. What would be cool is if the first teaser poster is like Batman's with him floating instead of on a building and no look at his face. (Supes' face should either be shown or not; he's not a shadowy kind of dude)

Nice job Pimp. My observation is: The lit Superman version works better than the silhouetted [sp?] version, I think because the background is pretty dark to begin with. There's really no light source from behind to silhouette him, unlike the Batman poster.

I really like the idea but the proportions are just off, either that or it is perspective, but since it's in silohette basically the effect is lost and blurs into looking like misproportions.

Could some one do one in more of a Superman esque mid flight pause pose?

Like I said I like it, but if you cover his head it looks like he is just hanging, like from a noose.

Please don't flame me or complain about my oppinion, it is just some thoughts/suggestions of what I would like as a teaser. If I had photoshop and or other means I would do it my self. I could just draw it but it is not the same as a manip for giving an idea of what it will/would look like in reality.

personally i think 'blue' would be more suitable. and about his face looking up, well since he's already up there in the air, IMO he's supposed to look down, but this is just me :D

i was going to do that, but since it mirrors batman begins teaser which is almost completely black, i decided to make it a little bit more subtle

i did add a little bit of sunlight reflection to the \s/, but you can only spot that in a higher resolution version (a bigger one)

How did you make it gold exactly?

Whatever I tried (and I tried a few different ways), the darker blue bits (especially at the bottom) always ended up looking murky and yuck.
it's easy since i have the poster composed from different layers in photoshop. All you have to do is select the layer for the background (sky), play with the hue/saturation parameter without affecting the other parts,and voila!

i bet if you have the original file, you too can do it in a matter of seconds

Just curious, but since this is a manip thread in the movie boards shouldn't the manips be movie oriented, other wise wouldn't they belong in super-world?

I imagine most of you can guess what I am refering too. This isn't a 'get those specific manips the hell out' post, but rather a serious question. Is this thread for only movie apropriate manips and others should thus be on a different board, or is this thread given special privilage and is open too off topic manips?

Just curious, not important, just figured we could avoide flaming if off topic manips are 'officially' sanctioned or something, or vice versa.

don't know if yuo remember, a while back, kazuya posted some pics of costume ideas he had. they were in pretty light pencil and he asked me to ink and color them. i posted one of them already (the second half of that picture, with batman, is coming soon) and there was one of him in flight. another poster has already done his color job on that, and here's mine complete with inks and color. unlike the last one, which i colored digitally, i used good ole fashioned colored pencils for this. i like i way the belt came out especially and the shading on the arms :D. i'm gonna toss this in the routh's supersuit thread too cause i really like it (not braggin....just like kaz's design). enjoy

i like the symbol from the top, but overall suit design i like the bottom one. it'll take about a week and a half but i could always color the bottom one like the top one so they can be compared fairly. side by side the colored pencil one doesn't look as good :(. i still like the belt though :D
