there's a very... interesting... Cavill manip in this trailer (http://www.bluetights.net/members/SithGoblin/sithgoblin01.avi) . You'll know it when you see it. You'll need the latest DivX codec to view it, but if you're a Cavill fan, it's definintely worth it.

Actually in Elvis' acting prime he would have been GREAT for a lot of roles. I saw him in "King Creole" (50's movie that takes place in a New Orleans atmosphere) and I swear I've never seen an actor with more natural ability than Elvis displayed

Nope, don't think so.
Besides, He was way too skinny back then. The only time he had a fit looking body for any kind of hero role was in 68 and I still wouldn't want him as Supes.:)
All I said is he would have been great for a lot of roles in his prime. I didn't specifically state Superman would have been one of them :o Although if I think about it, I'm sure given a decent director he had the chops to pull it off as well as George Reeves did at least

Just to check.. You don't think i'm not doing my best on this just to get at you right?
Personally after if it wasn't for the height build issues, I think Law would have been a pretty decent choice, out of all the names mentioned he does have possibly the highst acting credentials...
The problem with the manip (for me anyway) is the strange colour and texture of the source materiel.. great pose, just seriously difficult colours....

Didn't downgrade to JPEG as well as I would have liked, but I still think it's decent. I put alot of work into this because I didn't want to paste Law's face onto Reeve's body. Instead I fitted Reeve's body (in a mirror image) to Jude's main body features, his shoulders, collarbone, and neckline. Then flipped the whole image back so the S was right and placed him in a new scene. I think as far as roughs go, this is my best.

My logic is flawed? How so? You don't make any sense.
The whole point of Smallville is to show the beginnings of Superman, that is the premise! So, with that in mind when you watch the show you are always given things that foreshadow the premise.
A perfect example is the episode "Hereafter" in season 3. A kid can see how people die, when he sees Clarks death he is given the vision of the Superman cape (with the yellow S) flying through space. So, YES I do know that Clark Kent from Smallville will become Superman. Thats why people watch the show! They want to see Superman before he was Superman.
And the show if definately leaning towards Clarks destiny in becoming Superman. The season finale of season 3 is just one of many examples foreshadowing Clarks destiny to fill the blue and red tights.:)
He may not become Superman during the shows air time. But, that does not mean that it wont end with him fullfilling his destiny.

Technically, he's Clark Kent. Like you said, it's Superman before becoming Superman. Before becoming Superman, he was just Clark Kent. They can't be the same guy yet if Superman hasn't even come into existence yet.

He looks good in manips of Superman sometimes, ironically he looks much worse as Clark Kent who he's playing on Smallville :o

Here's another take on Supes/ Clark. Simple manip, but I think it shows how Welling could look like Clark w/ glasses as well. Any feedback will be appreciated.

Hi mr.e. I think the one of him in the suit looks good, realistic. But the one as Supes, I don't know. There's something about the face that isn't right. Maybe it was the picture selection. . . it just doesn't really look very much like TW. Thanks for posting them. :)

You're right Casey. I did change TW's face a little bit. The original picture had him look particularly baby-faced. (Not a bad thing when you're supposed to be playing a character who is in high school). First I flipped it around, so that the lighting would match, then I tried to add a few things on his face to make him look a few years older. I also manipulated his hair, to make it look more like it would if he cut it and/or slicked it back. I used part of Dean Cain's hair as reference, and part of his own hair to make it look more natural. Hopefully you'll see more of TW's face if you see the different steps I used to create this image. Let me know if you can now tell it's Tom! (Not that you should be able to if he were in fact playing the role. He should look like Superman, not like TW dressed as Supes...but I digress) Let's keep these discussions going!

Per a suggestion I got on the Fan Art board, I tried using a different image of Welling to make him look like Clark. Used an image from the 1960's episode of Smallville. Cut off some hair, and put the same glasses I had on my first Clark manip. I personally don't like this one as much, just cuz he looks too similar to Supes in this one, however, I wanted to see if this was closer to other people's image of what Clark should look like. Keep the great discussions and feedback coming.

I think you did a great job with the lighting, to get the original and the new image to match. I think that you could work on getting the outline and back of Law's head/hair to look more natural. If the hair looked more natural, that would definitely make it look far more believable. Keep up the great work.

This is definitely not one of my best works, however it was one of the most fun to work on. I found this great base pic of bana busting through a wall (i think it was an entertainment weekly picture or something talking about the hulk of course). i used a few images of dean cain (one of him posing and one of him running) to steal limbs and torso parts, and did a lot of frankensteining to get those limbs attached to bana's body. Just a rush job, but I wanted to respond to someone's request to have a manip of bana. Again, let's hear the feedback. Any ideas for improvement?

ok guys, i must admit, i'm starting to get a little lazy. someone earlier asked for bana, fraser, cavill and bomer manips, just to make it even (i've been heavy on the welling manips). here's a quick piece using a "glamour shot" that has been used so many times before. i just stuck bomers head on the existing base pic that i found yesterday. forgive the laziness, but i wanted to give other actors a fair shot.
i must say, that bomer looks great in this shot, but then again, it is a shot designed to have him look good. i don't like this one as much as the welling one i did yesterday, so i'm hesistantly putting this one up on the board. the lighting doesn't match nearly as well, but i did what i could with it. i suppose i could have used a different body shot, but there are already great manips using that head shot and chris reeves body. just wanted to try something new. here you go.

I had commented specifically about Bomer because the manips I've seen of Cavill do *nothing* for me. I just can't see Cavill in the role based on those photos. Nothing against him, he just doesn't look like Superman to me, which is the whole reason folks make manips in the first place, right? You can kind of see it (or not see it as the case may be) in his bone structure. Small bones were okay for Spider-Man but not Supes. This is something that no amount of strength training can change. Bomer looks good though.
That said, nothing would please me more than to see Welling cast in the role. He is by far, the best choice IMHO. Any manips I see of him with an \S/ on his chest merely overstate the obvious. Physically, he's perfect for the part: blue eyes, cleft chin, high cheek bones, 27yo, 6'3", ripped physique, etc. - there's really not much of an argument as far as I'm concerned. :)

It looks like Hulk is shooting a firefart at Supes. Good thing he's invulnerable, but I don't know how many times he'll have to wash his suit after that.:D

Great work Adenjo! I'm definitely going to have to step up my game as well. I haven't done many group manips...but I guess I'll take what I can learn from your examples and see what I can come up with!
Inspired by our very own Adenjo. (Also an attempt to strecth my skills). Hulk vs. Supes on the Hulk's territory.
What do you guys think?

Here's a second take. This time taking the fight to Metropolis. I haven't quite mastered the technique of adding explosions and stuff, so I'll just keep mine as simple as possible for now. Any tips Adenjo?

I was thinking this pic was really sweet, and our technical illustrator here at work came around the corner and in about a second he blurted out Superman looks like he's about 8 feet tall! I didn't see it at first, but that helicopter on the ground is looking pretty small compared to Supes. . .or he's looking pretty big.
But either way, the thing looks sweet... You guys did a nice job on it.

You're right.... It wasn't until I read this that I noticed Supes height...Hopefully Mr.e. will have a "supesless" version of the manip which he can add a reduced Superman to.
Looking at the pic now, i'm guessing that removing and/or enlarging the helicopter would be pretty difficult....
I've got my thinking head on now.. this problem will be sorted :D

Thanks for the tips you guys! I completely overlooked the helicopter. Thank you too Adenjo for touching it up. I decided to give the heat vision a shot too. Here's my take, with an improved helicopter perspective. I'm really enjoying this community input and collaboration.

I do/make manips... And i'm all for being nice to anyone who makes/does photo manips.. However...
The Guy who made the Paul Walker manip making production notes like
"Warner should cast Paul Walker as Superman.
He CAN look pretty imposing and I don't even care if he's blond. That only makes him look more pure-hearted.
Renew the costume as well and make it resemble the Kryptonian-uniforms from the 1978 Superman-movie.
And of course... no cape. "
Sorry mate.... Without the classic or at the very least a varient of the classic costume.. It just wouldn't be Superman.

Finally, here are 2 "15 minute manips" I did of Jim Caviezel who just so happens to be MY choice for Superman:
http://img73.photobucket.com/albums/v221/puck420/caviezelman2.jpg
http://img73.photobucket.com/albums/v221/puck420/caviezelman.jpg
The thing I like about Caviezel is that he looks like "everyman." He's got that avarage Joe, kind of run of the mill look to him. To me, he has features that would be a perfect represtentation of a "Man". I'm sure this might confuse a lot of people in here (let's face it, not everyone here is too bright) and you can save your "does Puck have a crush on Jim Caviezel" comments to yourself, thanks. But if i were to look up the word "man" in a dictionary, I think that Jim Caviezel would be a perfect person to have a picture of there for the definition - see what I mean? I think he'd be a great Superman because he's such a good physical example of a man. And that's what Superman is - he's just a guy trying to blend into this world of ours and be as "human" as he can. Its not his physique or his or his height that make him "super" - its his powers and devotion to and willingness to help people that makes him Superman.
Questions? Comments? Concerns?

make hulky grey, and find some good rock photos to use. . .this could be Supes trying to fry Doomsday. let's see those mad skills!

I'd rather have an old Caviezel than teenage nobody. Unlike many people here, I don't know many of the script details. From what I hear, they're using a younger Superman - which is fine and dandy of course, but if you ask me, a middle aged Superman is best.
I'm not interested in Cavill or Welling for the role of Superman at all.

This manip was going to be supes v doomsday.. But...
I couldn't get hulks colour to a suitable grey, and as hard as I tried the bony spurs I added looked nothing but fake :(
However, if anyone can make a decent job of it.. feel free :)
I'll give it a shot. Thanks for the idea Adenjo.
