I don't think the boots are accurately represented in either of these. The real boots have much more of a diagonal slant - some people seem to not have even noticed this though.
I *wish* the boots were like the ones in these 2 pictures though - they look better.
The trunks are bigger in both these too. I wish the real ones were like the ones in the drawing.

i don't like the way i made the boots, i prefer the boots on the "it is batgirl"'s manip, they are more bulky, like the boots on the official picture.... my boots are to tights, they look like socks

I know pickiness is annoying, but I would say maybe not quite that bright a red. I agree with what you said; changing the color red makes a world of difference. But, I would still be picky. LOL. Good work!

I didn't think that was disgusting. Overly exaggerated, yes, but not disgusting. While Superman in the movie doesn't have to be that large, he should look muscular. And in the picture being referenced, Superman looks void of muscle.

I agree. Superman should not be too muscular. However, he should be muscular. I didn't think Christopher Reeve was that muscular. He did a great job as Superman and Clark Kent, but his physique wasn't up to par. When I think of Christopher Reeve as Clark Kent, I remember times when he look pretty buff in his shirt and tie and coat. Perhaps, because they made him where tighter clothes. But as Superman, there wasn't much muscle.
I like the size that Alex Ross made Superman. And Superman in the comics is the right size too. He is not supposed to match the size of the Hulk.
Brandon Routh has a good build. He just needs a better costume!

the correct terms should be that Superman should not be ripped/cut. He should be buff. Buff implies taht it's dense muscle, but not necesarily defined. There's lot's of muscle there, but it's not completely distinguishable. A good example is my friend who's hella buff, and he's got hella strong abs, but barely a trace of a six pack because he's so buff that it looks like one big muscle.

The Alex Ross painting is perfect. His Superman looks extremely strong and powerful, but not like he simply spends four hours in the gym every day. He has the appearance of someone who has gained their physique through hard physical work rather than vanity, steroids and a personal trainer.

Excuse me? Ross' Superman is STUPIDLY muscular. He's INSANELY muscular. No on-screen Superman will ever be that size. Not even the horrible actor from Collora's World's Finest was that big.

Ross's Superman just has a bigger FRAME, far bigger than Atlas. So even though they would have about the same proportionate amount of muscle on them, Ross's version would simply be bigger.
Or at least that's the way it looks to me - mainly because Ross's supes head is proportionately smaller. And while I don't know Atlas' height, I doubt it's Superman height.
I would have loved to see a Superman with a real Charles Atlas type build. It's amazing how bodybuilders in the old days just looked different to what they do now - due to different ideals of perfection, and different work-outs that developed their bodies in different ways.
I think a thicker torso/waist is one of those classic Superman hallmarks that was common in old bodybuilding, but it's simply not the ideal today (narrow waist is) so we'll never see a Superman who looks like that.
Stiil, I'm looking forward to the possibility of Routh really going all-out to bulk up in a sequel - but I suppose that's not what Singer wants, seeing the way the costume accentuates the lean-ness of Routh. Singer really wanted a swimmer's physique, but damn it, Superman shouldn't *have* a swimmer's physique.

I posted the Atlas pic in response to a comment made that Ross's Superman looked insanely muscular. The comment wasn't made that Ross's Superman looked insanely large. I said that Charles Atlas and Ross's Superman have similar builds. Atlas wasn't insanely muscular and neither is that Superman. Heights can be different, sure, and so can the sizes, but the muscularity of the two is rather similar.

Yeah, Scott's physique would work well. He doesn't look silly, just big.
O'Hearn looks silly because his chest is just WAY too big, as well as ridiculously developed thighs and stuff.
Gordon Scott just looks like a big tough man - not freakish in any way. He has more body fat than the ridiculous looking bodybuilders too - he looks much more natural, though underneath a Superman suit that doesn't really matter.
You know Collora's WF fan-trailer? It's Clark Bartram who's the one who has a great Superman physique in that film (apart from actual height, of course), not O'Hearn. Bartram looks positively NORMAL compared to O'Hearn.

The thing is, he'd look way thinner in a tight suit and everyine would complain. That's the problem with tight suits. People simpply look bigger with their shirts off - there's not much you can do about it except use padding well.
I bet if we saw a pic with a shirtless Routh (as he is RIGHT NOW)with his head covered up, everyone would be going "now THAT's more like Superman's physique".

I would love to see a scene with Lois as well as I am damn curious as to how Bosworth will pull off the character.
Whenever someone says that Singer made a bad call about a casting decision I just can't help but smile. Singer has never been proven wrong before and I am keeping an open mind to what he is going to give us with these actors.

Kpax is the only movie I've seen space in. He actually looks a lot like Hackman which is just super duper.
I haven't seen this bosworth chick at all though. She looks really hungry...
I wonder what they'll be eating in SR. Can someone do a manip of superman or someone eating a pie or really any food, a chocolate bar, pudding cup... or whatever you like.

Kakarot069 is right, the color on that "official" photo released was wrong. Take a look in this week's EW, there is a picture of the suit, I believe corrected color or close to it. EW didn't tamper with the pic (at least it is highly unlikely) because Time Warner owns that magazine.

MAJOR SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!
When Superman comes back on earth he discovers that the world has moved without him... Lois is married and has a kid, his loft has been rented to a family of five, Lex Luthor has become rich and powerfull and he bought half of Metropolis to make sure that Clark Kent (the world knows who he is) will never find an appartment... even the Fortress of solitude is occupied by Polar bears... Even worse!!!! the army is now able to defend the earth against any villain..... at the end Superman is homeless here is a set pic

the rules are clear -- no references to gay people. none whatsoever. the owners of the hype have specified it clearly. anybody making a post that refers to any form of gay bashing, will warrant probation, or even possible banning.
please try to follow the rules, and nobody will have a problem.

I personally find people telling me to make like Joe CHILL more offensive than someone calling someone or somthing gay. Telling people that they should be killed is a way harsher thing to say and the banning criteria needs to be clarified and changed if telling people to die is taken less offensively than telling people to die.

This is a cool pic. Too bad there won't be anything like it in the movie. There's no salvation for this movie. Bryan Singer should be kept far away from comic movies but, they just keep handing 'em over to him.
The whole movie's miscast except for Lex. The story is lame, and once again no super villian, and no faithful story to the books.
Lois as a Mother ruins the story and myth of Supes. Bryan's ruined this movie.

Lets see I agree with none of what you said....Singer is the perfect director for this movie...The Cast is going to be great! We don't know the whole story let so you have no way of knowing if it is going ot be lame...no super villian is nota big deal......It has been stated that Singerand company went through many comics so I am betting that their will be stuff in the story straight out of the comics and as for Lois asa mother...won't happen.....the kid will be White's from a previous relationship...why is that such a hard concept for people to get through their head?

This is a cool pic. Too bad there won't be anything like it in the movie. There's no salvation for this movie. Bryan Singer should be kept far away from comic movies but, they just keep handing 'em over to him. The whole movie's miscast except for Lex. The story is lame, and once again no super villian, and no faithful story to the books. Lois as a Mother ruins the story and myth of Supes. Bryan's ruined this movie.
I only partially agree with you, Sauron. (a) It makes sense from a financial standpoint to let Singer do this movie, because his X-Men movies were, of course, superhero material and were financially successful. From the studio's point of view, it makes perfect sense to let him direct this (not that there aren't other directors who could have done as well or better - e.g., Joss Whedon, James Cameron, et al).
(b) I don't have a problem with the casting in terms of whether the actors will turn in good performances. It just seems odd to me that this story is supposed to take place after Superman has been Superman for a while, yet the two stars seem too young for the chronology. But I have nothing against the actors as actors.
(c) The story seems to me to be very inventive and ripe for heroic drama and characterization. And you don't need a super-villain to have a good story; Superman the Movie was in some ways superior to Superman II just because Supes flying around saving people looked more dramatic than the slow-moving, cheesy fight scenes in the sequel. Heck, one of my all-time fave scenes in any movie is Superman's first appearance when he runs across the street, rips open his shirt to reveal the \S/, and flies up to catch Lois and the helicopter. I still get chills watching it all these years later. Not that I mind super-villains, but other scenarios can happen too; besides, we'll likely get super-villains in the sequels.
(d) A screenwriter can create a great story without lifting material directly from the comics. After all, the comic-writers themselves have to keep churning out new plotlines, so why can't that be done in the movies? (Although it would be cool to see a comic-writer do some screen-plays for Supes.)
I actually had only positive thoughts about this movie until I saw that pic of the new suit, which was a real disappointment. Even so, I'm prepared to be pleasantly surprised, since I enjoyed the X-Men flicks and I'm not even an X-Men comic fan.
Good post but you are wasting your time on Sauron. She's a Welling fan (even more so than a SV fan) and has tunnel vision.
I have to admit, my own preference has always been, and still is (though this will never happen now), for the WB to continue on with Smallville until it's time for Clark to put on the red-and-blue, then "graduate" him to the silver screen in what would be Welling's first Superman movie. I think he's excellent on Smallville, and last season's episode where he forgot he was Clark Kent and went flying was a thrill to me as a viewer; he could only have looked better for the part if he'd actually been wearing the Super-suit in that scene.
Routh looks like Superman too me.
Yeah, but given the chronology of Superman's career as begun in Superman the Movie, Routh seems like he would've been a more appropriate casting choice if the character were younger; maybe his first appearance in Metropolis. But again, I expect he'll do a good job.

That's the second time my little brother has posted anything on this forum, he was screwing around on my pc the other day and I should have known something was up when he asked if Joe Chill was the guy killed in Batman Begins. But after reading it, and checking back on what the M.E.H.Z.E.B. guy said, I think he was referring to that. Yes it was stupid but I think it's sorta funny that he analyzed it like that.

youre statement is incorrect. there is no way you can say that the suit in the movie will look like that one picture that has been released. wait for some other pics, or atleast a teaser, before making up your mind, and labelling the colors in that pic, as the "colors in the movie" :o

wat is the genesis camera?
Its a new HD DIGITAL FILM CAMERA they are shooting SR with.
Although today's marketplace is littered with digital video and high-definition cameras, many originally designed for consumers or broadcast news gatherers, none to date is based on a Super 35mm-sized digital imaging sensor which allows 35mm depth of field. (The Dalsa Origin sensor was originally developed for medical imaging applications and is still being field-tested.) The Genesis' CCD sensor is 12.4 mega pixels with RGB 10-bit log color output. It allows speeds up to 50 fps.
The camera's 35mm sensor size is critical because most digital cameras are built on 2/3-inch chips and cinematographers are invariably hampered by depth of field and dynamic range issues.
