Although i like these alot, i must put my .02 cents, but just to help you in the future. The comet you can still see the square outline from the image you pasted, try adding a layer mask and using a big soft brush such as 20 or 50 with the softness set to about 20%, than use that around the edges so it will help blend it better.

I just have one more comment and that is....why would superman be shown in the second poster if he is soaring back to earth in his ship, doesn't make sense. If anything keep the background and get rid of the ship if your going to keep him in the pic. I believe that the superman returns font (or something close to it) is Trajan Pro

Great! Beautifuly done! qwik3r thanks for the input, i truly appreciate that! For the comet, reason it looks like a square is because of the stars. I added the stars but i forgot to put some around the tail as well. As for the second poster , you might be right there. I didn't want the poster to be too empty, but ill try it without the comet. You know i have no idea what the hell they are talking about with his pakage. It's not bulging out at all.

The one with his leg up, with the "new Krypton" set may look like it, but that's just the red of the trunks where his leg is lifted, not his actual "buldge."

I find it truely unbelievable that they would make WB 'fix' it in post, but even more rediculous that they even saw anything to start the rumour on in the first place.

What in the world made the come up with that one?

Damn, that hair, perhaps a little more kept, would be perfect for a return from the dead Superman.

I am very happy with Routh (although I still believe he would have been absolutely PERFECT for a re-start/origin/Birthright take on the film) but I do wonder what could have been with Caviezel (?sp) as he would have certainly made a very interetsing Superman. Perfect again, for an older Supes.

Here's a poster I've thrown together from the most recent image. I've made the colours more dramatic for the purpose of the poster and used the same font style that the official website has.

Very rarely am i impressed, sometimes even with my own work when others say its good or great etc, but what works in movie posters is simplicity and you captured it perfectly.

The colors are not overly washed, it has a great warmth to it, it portrays the character, the strength, its perfect and i could easily say its on my top 3 of fav manips and posters ever seen. Would love to get that poster on my wall. Great job.

Thanks for the compliments aswell, alot of my work focus's on the original conceptual art, basically since he is "returning" and although it is a NEW superman its not "superman begins" or something like that. The only thing i find a bit out of place is perhaps the text at the bottom, it was on another poster of mine so i left it there, i may change it to something to fit the poster more. As for the text, yes it is Trajan.

Although not needed, i would kinda of agree looking at it from his perspective that the bottom tagline be bigger and on a faded color, such as black just to emphasize the text more.

I tried showing more of his legs, but when you get to the knees it kind of looked like he was supporting his legs on the ground (which is what he is doing), but I wanted to make it look like he was floating. I cropped the image accordingly.

I'll do another version with adjusted text to see what it looks like.

personally i think singer's colors will probably look better on screen and hopefully the debate will over once the movie is seen, but than again there will probably always be debate. My personal opinion (from an artist's standpoint) is that it is the "return" of superman...so the colors should be about the same, its not like batman begins with a new costume etc. Its based off of a comic book, too many people are picking it apart trying to make it look more real, well if in reality a guy soaring around with super powers would we give a rat's ass what the costume looked like? I think not. Anyway...since it is fantasy, i think the colors should be brighter, singer's colors look too "dirty" in my opinion, some renditions from you guys are just too saturated, i've seen a few that are perfect but i'd leave well enough alone.

First, its qwik with a W. Second i appreciate the input and comments, thanks. I was trying to keep the text simple, but i too am getting alittle bored with it so i'll play around with it and see if i can come up with something better. I find that messing too much with it will almost cheapen it aswell, giving it a definite web image look. As for "every planet needs a hero" - since it says daily planet behind him (or aily lol) i thought it would be alittle bit of irony, i personally like the tag line.

As for the copyrighting, correct i do not own the images, the characters are property of DC and WB. They are not copyrighted or implied, just "all rights reserved". I digitally watermark all of my images anyway so if i find them floating around i can prove that they are mine.

I don't mean to seem argumentative, but if you have ever read any of the precedent's online regarding digital art, the minute it is created, no matter what it is, it is protected, so they are, inturn...my rights. Mostly i am deciding to put the tag on there and at the bottom because i don't want to screw up the image by putting my name somewhere and i have noticed alot of my work as of recent ending up on forums and webpages with no way to tell who created it, now if you can :)

I think my fav of the latest series of SR posters is lex, it just came out better than i could have hoped. Don't take it personally when people don't comment on your work right away, it takes some time. I think its a great job personally. I really like it.

Thanks man! I know about the feet i thought it was my mistake id did while erasing the background, but no, his feet are really like that, at least in this small version. The cape i kept it just like in the picture, i just added a little red glow on the left part but thats all. Im really looking for the bigger ones as well. How's the city by the way and which one you prefer better?

Wow, simultanious posting qwik3r! It looks really good, you gave it the blurry/old school look the film has. The font i find takes a bit away from the nice poster, im only refering to the SR text at the bottom. Have you tried making it smaller and a yellow hue to it?

Wow, simultanious posting qwik3r! It looks really good, you gave it the blurry/old school look the film has. The font i find takes a bit away from the nice poster, im only refering to the SR text at the bottom. Have you tried making it smaller and a yellow hue to it?

Yeah i tried a few different variations it guess because of the small resolution it doesn't want to come out too well, i will probably change it later, its not priority just felt like messing around to see what i could come up with.

I was going to put him in the clouds and stuff but you already did that so i didn't want to do that yet, atleast until i get a higher res version heeh :)

A couple of manips. The first has a different collar, colours and vertically stretched emblem (same width as original). It's really hard to make manips that really show the cape/collar how I'd like it to be... there's just too little there to manip into the full-on shoulder-draping effect, but ideally it would look like Frank Quitely's version in All Star Superman.

Because his belt is around his waist, like it's supposed to be, not his hips. You don't wear a belt around your hips, unless you are a woman.

Maybe the cut of the leg-holes could be higher at the sides to make them less square-cut and more like regular briefs (I did change them a bit), but saying they look like "granny panties" is too much. They look like old-style men's swimming trunks, if anything.

The concept is interesting, it has your style alright. Few suggestions, if he is to be flying which i'm assuming so based on the motion blur, i would do something about his cape position, secondly his arms it looks as if his back is pressed up against a wall or pushing something, and they look alittle short. Just my .02, but can't wait to see it when its done mate. :up:

LOL! No guys, its a daily planet globe. I just slapped it on there for overall look. I will be using another one though. For the Superman image , there's no high quality one out yet, im polishing the existing one. Smoothing it over and correcting the colors in some places so that it can still look good if enlarged.

Thats barely a try. Its just a mock up of what design look im going for the next version of the poster. There aren't even any arms, just two brushed lines. Right now im working hard on the background, detailing it and such. Its really long, but its takes time for a better result.

Nevertheless "waist" is the correct term for measuring the size of a pair of pants or belt - you don't say your pants have 30 inch hips, it's 30 inch waist. The top of a pair of pants is the waistband. That doesn't mean you're supposed to wear it right below your ribcage. A belt or pants should go just above your hips wher it naturally will "hang" from them - not down around them.

That single inch makes a difference. Girls wear their belts down low where they don't actually do anything but be decorative. That's what Brandon's belt looks like. Of course, his belt doesn't actually have to hold anything up, it IS simply decorative, but it's simply the wrong height for a man's belt. It serves to slim and elongate the appearance of his torso while shortening the appearance of his legs.
