Maybe a simple burn in glow effect with a bright core plus some transparency? There's no waterry embossed texture to heat-rays. Even if they were heat rays, it'd be more of a visible air distortion than a sea of blood.

Reminds me too much of Gozer from the first Ghostbusters. :D I don't really care for the beam shooting straight out of his eyes like everyone's doing it. Maybe his iris's can glow a little, but the beam itself should still start a few inches out, like in the original Superman movies.

Everything else just makes him look evil or possessed.

I've looked into it, but from everything I've read, there's not much money to be made from selling resin copies to people, once you factor in the cost of materials and the time involved. Plus I'd much rather spend that energy sculpting NEW stuff. ;)

Now if WB or DC wanted to buy them from me, I'd be all for it. But they got their own people to make stuff.

Y'know, looking at them all together like that, Routh does look the most like Superman next to Reeve. And, horrifyingly enough, Cain's suit actually looks the most comic-accurate.

Thanks. Actually I'm finding it interesting that some people like different likenesses than others. A lot of people think my Reeve is totally off, and some think it's spot on. The same goes for Routh, Reeves, Cain...

The truth is I'll probably redo most of them eventually, as my skills get a little better. I'll probably look back in a year and go "holy crap, what was I THINKING putting those online?!?!?" :D

Exatlly!, I dont know who this wilde guy is, and is not to my attention to "steal" anyones work. I, like many other here download the manips, and i dont hold track of who has made what. Actually I haven't really asked yet. I was hoping those who we were considering would bring it up first. All in good time my man, all in good time.

No lol, I'm just a lonely man from Scotland who has Photoshop, so I don't think there's any chance they'd get to me. :p

Hey guys. Someone pointed out to me that my CG image of Superman got posted on here. However, the other thread was locked before I found out. Anyway, here is I *guess* you would call a manip. It's CGI though. The superman is made with Poser 6, and Photoshop. By the way, to whoever said that it was really bad CGI... :(

Nice, would you like share your poser model?

Daniel_B
03-07-2006, 01:48 PM
Well, the Poser model is just a standard "James" model. All the Superman stuff was added in 3ds max.

However, if you want a Superman model for Poser...go to

Register, and click Free Stuff.

I and another poster were the ones who typed that. We were refering to the fact that it didn't look like Brandon, not a general comment about the CGI in the photo. If you did it yourself than I think it looks fantastic.

Also, if you PM me, I might have an opportunity for you.

I wish the mods/admins could copy all the art/manips to one (or as many as it takes as long as they're consecutive) page, maybe the first page so we can preuse them without comments. They could just update the very first post everytime new work is added.

You know this off topic of course but this thread has been pounding away forever...Could this be one of if not the longest thread on the hype? Really just curious if anyone knows.

Sorry I know this is sorta pointless but I mean we are creeping up to 1000 pages eventually. lol

I was thinking the same thing! This has been going on since I've been at the boards, always at the top. And that CGI manip of Superman over the earth is fantastic by the way, very nice!!

Even more reason to make an easier way to view all of the manips. They eventually become forgotten. And no one is going to start over at page 1 unless they have a few days to go through them all.

Maybe they could create a locked sticky that is updated with new manips by mods/admins. This one remains open for comments and of course new submissions.

Well, you've proposed a very good idea here. Keep this thread open for new submissions as well as comments, but create a sticky thread with only the manips; that way the pics are easier to access. Good job.

I like it but, not sure about how you show the sense of speed with the triangular shaped transparency effect. More of a blur would be cool.
