Really nice red there - that's what it should have been. Alter the cape and collar a bit and I'd be much happier with that suit than the real one - it's already a big improvement.

nice drawing, alittle odd to me though, what does he want in that picture? My hand, maybe some icecream? Reeves throws it off, but overall good. The cape is cool. The shadows on his face are throwing me off a bit though, it looks more like dirt. Also the position of his chest and head make the picture look odd, if you had drawn his chest just facing forward i think the picture would be alot cooler. Don't take my criticism to heart, its mean't to be constructive since i truely do like 100% painted pictures vs manip's so you can get A. Now would you mind going over your procedure?

this is my wallpaper now. the original image (whoever you are thanks!) had a few problems so i had to fine tune the image quite a bit, then created the symbol using the logos from the teaser posters from each franchise, added the tints and voila!

i'm pretty sure there was an official version of this of Routh released by WB, its the same background as the first released pic of the costume.

no, it didn't need to be changed, and it hasn't changed for 50 years...



now if you're talking about a change from the Donner suit, then yes, those colors were too bright IMO, something more along the lines of either Jim Lee or the suit interpretation in Infinite Crisis would have been a "modern update" or so to speak.

I just saw it as too dark... If they could of made it look like a Fleischer cartoon, now then I would of loved the suit, and I'm not talking the fleischer suit... If you noticed in the episodes, the suit stood out at night, and you could see it real well, and that's what I wanted to see in the movie, but I didn't see that... and I was bummed out by it.

but that's not what Superman is about though... he's not a dark hero, like Batman. His suit fits him because he is a dark character. Superman isn't... he's the exact opposite.


I... think... that someone did a Red Son manip a long time ago, when the photo of the suit first came out.

I disagree Robo... Singer wanted the suit to reflect the feel of the world around him, which was dark and depressing, and Superman is everything except those things...

His suit should reflect his acts.


but then again, Singer gave us an emo hero... so yeah, it still sucks...

Compared to everything else in the frame? Yes. The blue and red of his costume stood out completely next to the greys of the building, the muted brown of the Daily Planet, and the dark navy of Lois' business suit.

I never had a problem with the colors, until I saw the movie. It lost the whimsical feel, and while I wouldn't go back to the Reeve costume I'd like something a bit more saturated and brighter. In retrospect I feel like it hurt the movie some, though it ultimately fit the overall tone.

singer could go even further with migenbachs superb colour scheme of "toned down colours", we could have this stunning colour scheme of maroon dark brown,blue and gold,exactly what superman stands for,
it would work terrific in the scheme of singers superman world,
i think this darker "tone" works terrific, mingenbach truly is a genius aint she? she knows exactly what the public wants. The public loves "dark" colours, so here we go, mingenbach colours which have been "toned" down even more for the sequel! really shows supermans colours!:supes: :supes:

I didn't change the colors at all. They are the same as on the magazine cover. All i did was remove the text and i added a little bit of blur to the blue as it was a bit fuzzy.

nice one, Kakarot. i really like the neckline here, not too 'wrapped-up' like Mingebach design and not too low like Reeve's, perfect enough and a very smooth, almost unoticed touch-up. I wish the costume would look like this

That's because the perspective is off. The way the head and shoulders are angled and proportioned, the left side of the body should be diminishing towards the horion line. However, he's trying to shift focus to the right side of the body and trying to great the correct perspective that way. Problem is that the head is not proportioned for that horizon line.
