Hehe. :p
Nah not yet i don't think.
I do remember seing some of Hitch's designs for the new Dr Who in SFX magazine and those were AWESOME, so i'm hoping its true about him being attached... although seeing as how his stuff is mostly futuristic i'm wondering what the heck he is gonna be up to on WW. Didn't Hitch do the Ultimates redesigns for Marvel? Christ i hope he doesn't re-design the WW costume... i kinda like it as is. Either that or an amazon outfit like the one i did a wee while back... none of this in-between wierdo hybrid crap.

Bryan Hitch... comic artist... he did The Authority and i think Marvel Ultimates and some other stuff. It was rumoured a wee while back that he was working on "something wonderful" with Joss Whedon and a lot of folks naturally took that to mean he was working on WW with him... i don't think thats been cleared up yet. Go here (http://whedonesque.com/?cat=6) and scroll down to december 28th.
The designs i saw were for Dr Who so i wouldn't worry about them all being futuristic... i'm sure his designs will fit the requirements... the important thing is that his designs are freakin' AWESOME and epic.

Daryl Hannah as Barbara Minerva is pure brilliance.
The woman is the right age,(wasn't Minerva in her forties in the George Perez arc?) she looks slightly feral, she is tall and lanky and after watching Kill Bill she shows she can play a blood-thirsty psychotically unhinged beeyotch like nobody'd business...
But sorry, Cher as Circe is ...ugh!
Circe is supposed to be a goddess-like,unnaturally beautiful immortal sorceress...
Cher isn't a bad looking woman, but God knows that too much plastic surgery has turned her into some sort of Beverly Hills science project...
(Besides, her presence would probably up the camp quotient, and that isn't a good thing for a serious Wonder Woman film...)
Now, if we were talking about a musical parody of Wonder Woman, then Cher would be perfect for Circe...

I posted the first column on this board back in 03. It's been a long time. But as soon as I saw this incredible woman I knew she was the one for the Wonder Woman, back then I was saying CZJ and up to yesterday I still was. Until she came along. One glance and I knew she could fill the boots. I saw her in the show Young Blades on PAX TV yesterday. And forget the height fanboys. You want six feet, pray she gets 3 inch heels. I see though that other people clearly know this girl already. I just been out of the loop far too long but she is all Diana. Without further adue, the perfect girl is...........

Lauren Graham? Ehhhh....she's a little too snarky for WW to me.

The worst part of this report is:
"whilst whispers suggest Jennifer Lopez might be petitioning for the lead."
I swear that if Jennifer Lopez win this role i will go to WB to kill the idiot that had this ideia.
I actually wouldn't mind Lauren Graham in the role. I've previously stated that my personal choices for the role were Liv Tyler and Charisma Carpenter, they've now been bumped down on my list. My new #1 choice for the role of Wonder Woman is Jessica Biel. She's a talented actress who could be sweet and pull off the physicality and has the body and I believe that she's in the right point in her career for a franchise. I posted a request for Biel manip in the fan art section of this site and the pic below is by Wobbly

i have a feeling whoever's gonna be WW will be a "newbie".
i know physical atrributes are important but this actress really should be able to act. Batfans hit the jackpot with Christian Bale, jury's still out on Brandon Routh's Superman, and with the dissapointing results from Catwoman and Electra we got to have the perfect actress to prove that the superheroine genre is more than a nice pair of racks and sex-appeal, you know what i'm saying?

Jennifer Garner doesn't even have a nice pair of racks.
But she was fine in Daredevil as Elektra, at least she was believable as someone who can really kick ass. I just can't get why they made her hair lighter and their eyes green. Marketing decisions? The Mediterrean type doesn't sell?

her skin is too white. I want a mediterranean skin type. Why should or would WW have a Mediterranean look to her? She not like that in the comics, plus Amazons in Greek Mythology. (and Possibly in reality) aren't even from the Mediterranean. They are believed to be From Asia Minor and from Eastern Europe. (with Affiliations with the Kurgans)
I'm just saying that there shouldn't super strict casting characteristics.

I've read pre-Crisis Wondie... the greek mythology is still there except Marston didn't really research it so he got all the names wrong. He also tweaked it to add a sci-fi element... i.e Mars (Ares in post-Crisis) is not only a god but he is ruler of the planet Mars.
Amazons are greek in history but not in WW... they are from all over the med including Africa and Egypt and places like that as well as Greece and Italy.

From what I read from Greek Mythology (I've been thorough) They don't come from Greece, but they are from Asia Minor (Turkey) and even considered to be from or near modern day Russia.

True. However, she was made by Greeks who made the clay. By being raised in an environment that encompasses a Greek heritage then she would incorporate elements of the Culture is Learned persona since we all know that culture is transmitted through learning which plays a vital role in molding the beliefs and behavior of the people exposed to them. Furthermore, children learn these traits by growing up in a society, through a process called enculturation.
By being raised by Greeks, Diana would incorporate into her persona elements of Instrumental, Adaptive, and Maladaptive behavior that Greeks by their own nature tend to possess. This is likely to incorporate behaviors like physical features, body language, verbal and non-verbal cues, as well as voice mannerisms and accent.
Therefore, since she is not Greek by birth (having been clay) she is still Greek by association, as that is the only culture that she would have grown up with, and having taken on all elements of the Hellenic Greek Culture, she would in essence be Greek. "A rose by any other name..."

Not a bad choice. Definitely has the exotic look. Indian women are argubably some of the most beautiful women in the world. I think if she wanted to break into Hollywood, then this could be an interesting vehicle for her to do so, as she would be a relative unknown (By American audiences that is). I've seen many pictures of her, and she is stunning. Definitely some of the most incredible eyes in the world.

OK seems like i didn't stamp on this hard enough. Lemme try again.
The Amazons are from all over the mediterranean and asia minor... Phillipus for instance is black. They are culturally and ethnically diverse. NOT Greek. Even the REAL amazons in history were not Greek. Besides all this the amazons have evolved seperately from any other culture for several thousands of years therefore saying WW should be Greek is pure bollocks. Plus there is the whole Clay thing.

I don't think you understand what I was trying to say as well. That's ok. I forgive you. You're a good guy. By the way, there's no sense in shouting with the large font. It isn't very dignified for someone who is attempting to illustrate the notion of culture. You did raise some good points, however, and you are correct on the location of the Amazons. However, I believe any Wonder Woman story that is presented to the public will more than likely come from a Mediterranean origin that is Greek influenced. It will most likely be easier to do this for the masses who may not understand your great intellect.
Incidentally, one notion of the Amazon female warriors comes from South America and Brazil when the Conquistadors were trying to invade as well as tribesman from local tribes.

I see what you are saying but look at it this way: is it probable that a guy from the planet Krypton would look like a typical american farm boy? Nope... they wouldn't even look human. Is it probable that Batman would keep his looks after being beaten up so much? Nope... he would at least have a broken nose or have lost a couple of teeth. When all is said and done WW is a comic character and she will look the way she has been presented in the comics for decades... thats not particularly Greek or Amazonian but nobody is gonna complain about that.

But there's another good reason to take her, she plays at WB's channel "Lorelai Gilmore" in "Gilmore Girls" , so they could actually take directly to the next sound stage to shoot the movie and she stays within the WB studio.

Okay, okay, I know folks out there're probably thinkin' right now, "Cyberman, you have lost yer freakin' mind!" but bear with me. After seeing her performance on CSI: Miami the other night, I've come to realize that she's grown up & come a long way as an actress since her "Wonder Years" days. And while I realize this is a lil' outta left field, still, I think she'd be a great Wonder Woman! Who woulda thunk it? Winnie Cooper as an action star! The Elements from the pre-crisis series and the LC WW TV series that I don't want to see in the coming feature film is:
-Take off the girdle and Wonder Woman loses all her powers.
-Steve Trevor as her boyfriend/secret love blah blah blah.
-Having a scret identity (Diana Prince), and being based in Washington DC.
-Nazis, Nazis and more Nazis! So Sick of Em.
-The dopey Drusilla, sister of Diana.
I think the first 10-12 issues of Perez WW should be refered to by the producers, since I think these adequately explain (albeit with a twist as this is post crisis version) the history WW and her fellow Amazons.
I don't see how they can mix the pre and post crisis together. It's either one or the other.
Theres so much wrong with this i'm not even gonna go there.

wheres Monica Bellucci? She's perfect
Stunningly beautiful = Check!
Wonder Woman look = Check! (that means full bodied - she's WW to a T)
Mediterranean heritage = Check!
Accent = Check!
- She's 40? - who cares, she's playing an immortal character, and she sure as hell doesnt look 40 to me
- a big bonus is that to most audiences she is still relatively unknown...............................
remember, this film could suck big time if some popular American acctress plays the role, simply so she can cement her legend on the big screen by playing such an icon - and thats most acctresses on that list - even if the film direction kept it grounded in the DCU Wonder Woman, I cant help but feel a lesser actress would cheese it up at any oppurtunity due to the star potential of the role (and only knowing the Lynda Carter portrayal as her inspiration)
I cant see Bellucci doing that

I'll just say this: that version of Wonder Woman was far longer-lasting and more popular in terms of comics sold than the post-Crisis WW ever has been.
IMO, you have to reconcile the two. Pre-Crisis elements need to be there, because that's what most people know if they know Wonder Woman at all. The Perez-and-on stuff becomes the new wrinkles - the things you can introduce to an audience for the first time. It doesn't have to be one or the other, basically. It can - and should be - the best parts of WW from her entire 60+ year history.
Bingo.
You want to know why no one really buys post crisis wonder woman, even with Greg Rucka on the book? It's because its overcomplex and focuses too much on the mythology stuff. how many times do the gods have to be in involved in some scheme? Not to mention the decision to eliminate the "Diana Prince" identity. Say what you will about it, but it served as a metaphor. It had an empowerment message behind it.

It's the same problem with most 20 something DC fans: They read marvel most of their lives, and then the read the "Kewl, relatable" Post Crisis characters and act like thats the only good version....

But barely, both are lousy choises :(
Biehl doesn´t look nothing like WW, and Basinger even less.
I don´t understand that older/younger Wonder Woman thing
But, to go with it, Monica Belluci should be the older one.
Hell, she is perfect to portrait her mother, Hippolyta.

I've been saying the same thing for ages.
And heres a shocker... pre-Crisis Wondie: better than pre-Crisis Batman. I totally wasn't expecting that. I just got done reading a bunch of Archive editions and i gotta tell you Wondie's stories are vibrant and beautifully written and complex... whereas Batman's are kinda dull and unsophisticated in comparison. Batman is by far the cooler character and he became awesome cos there was a lot of cool elements for future writers to work on... the opposite happened with WW... she started out pretty awesome and got crapper as time went on and people screwed with basics.

In the seventies aye... but i'm talking about his very fisrt appearance and his early stuff back in the forties.
My point was that some people are knocking WW's early stuff and saying that the post-Crisis version is better... balls... those people need to read the old stuff and imagine what a half decent modern writer could do with that incarnation... it could be one of the top books out there.

Jessica Beihl weighs about 80 pounds! We're supposed to buy her portraying a 6' Amazon?
Riiiight.
And they want Joss Whedon to write it? Everybody get ready for "Buffy the Wonder Woman" with lots of snappy banter between the primary characters, and no actual plot progression that doesn't rely on lame pop-culture jokes.
Sorry, but I'll pass on this vision of Wonder Woman. Save her, make a JLA movie, and THEN get her out of mothballs as a part of the team. Cast someone who looks like they might be able to stand up to Superman, and maybe I'll spend money on it.

I agree Monica Becelli (Spelling) would be perfect, forget the twigs. Sarah Michel Geller ick. Hollywood always wants to use their coveted cuties to work things out. Look how bad Catwoman was and Hallie Barry is beautiful.
I dont agree with sfx amping up what should be some nice Talent and ability if you'll pardon my crassness. Think of it this way for those who play City of Heroes I have never seen any skinny character look good in any outfit. Catherine Zeta jones would be a decent choice if you had to pick from one of Bollywoods honey's. I still remember watching the laser fence scene over and over when she starred with Sean Conery.

one of the above but there are a few good choises up there.
The actress to portrait WW has to be tall (she is a goddess), very attractive (she is a goddess) and someone that can kick anyones butt (she is a god...you get the picture) and has to be in great shape.
I have an actress that i would love to see in that suit...
She´s a great actress (she won an oscar), very pretty and very .....sexy.
She´s blond but you can work on that...
She´s in a moment of her´s carrer that she can´t refuse that part and i don´t know why everyone forgets that she exist...and i´m not talking of WW only
WW is MIRA SORVINO
Think about it...

My pick for Wonder Woman would have to be Angie Harmon (http://us.imdb.com/Name?Harmon,+Angie).
No question about it.
Okay forget what I wrote about Mira Sorvino, Harmon is perfect for the part and I've thought so for a long time, but forgot about her since she left "Law and Order." She can act, she's 5'10" tall, listed on IMDB, she's olive skinned, dark haired, and has a perfect face for the part: beautiful with a strong jaw perfect to give the impression of power. All she'd have to do is work out and she'd be the best Wonder Woman of any known actress.

Soap actors and actresses in any language are usually crap... there are a few exceptions but the vast majority are crap. On top of this she is a former model that is now a soap actress... not very promising. I'm not saying she is definately crap... she just doesn't look very promising.

But she unfortunately did a soft fore porn in the late 80's, early 90's, and that knocks her out of the running. Warner's knows part of the advertising campaign will be articles in Teen and 17, and that whomever it is needs to be a role model for young women. They won;t be able to do it with Allen because of that one film. They know parents will scream and...they just wont do it. I wish they would, but I know it wont happen. If I had a time machine I would go back in time and tell her not to do that damn film.

I don't know if she speaks English or not, and apparently neither does anyone else here. But that hasn't seemed to stop other foreign stars from making a name for themselves in the states.

Tasha also attended big name drama schools in Paris and in London that set her apart from your other typical model turned actresses.

Only when it served the writers' purpose. She certainly didn't look like her twin when Perez did his 1980's stint in of the Titans.
The fact is they are still twins and look very similar. Its a moot point anyways cos Connelly IS the spitting image of WW. :p

Adrianne Palicki http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1597316/
Standing at 5' 11" (1.80 m) AP is one of the taller actresses. Her breakthrough role was supposed to be on WB's Lost in Space series which was cancelled so now she's doing spot-work on various WB shows. Charismatic and statuesque, like a younger version (she's only 22) of Rebecca Romijn-Stamos.
Here are some Kryptonsite.com scans of her on Smallville -- try to imagine her w/darker hair :)

No way in hell... did you see her trying to act aggressive ni Smallville? It was laughable.

Just throwing names out Mr Cowell....er...pimpernel.
Keep in mind that she's still the youngest name we have here. If the filming won't start in a few years, she might be looking a whole lot better acting wise by then.
Also, you can't learn charisma, and she's already got it.

No she doesn't. She has boobies and thats about it.
She can't act and a few years isn't gonna help that.
This film WILL be greenlit this year... can assure you of that. :p
And hey... sorry if i have high standards... i wouldn't accept a **** actor for Batman and i'm not gonna for WW either.

Look at the resume for Christopher Reeve or Helen Slater when they got their roles, sage. You might have said the same thing about them.
There's no way they'd cast your precious Monica Bellucci in an action movie, she just isn't athletic enough; the actress will need to be of the younger variety at the cost of not having as impressive a resume.

There are exceptions to every rule... but something like 90% of the suggestions here are crap actresses chosen purely cos of their looks.

You mean like the Agents Secrets... the french action movie she did two years ago?

Thats just not true... the actress doens't have to be young except in the minds of one or two ageist fanboys... unfortunately its people like you that give casting producers the dumb idea that this is what everyone wants when it really isn't.

The rumors suggest Kim Bassinger. Bassinger in an action film? If her name is being tossed around then Bellucci is definitely one to consider.

Not a lot of action in that movie. There was much more in Dobermann.

The actress has to be young, because if the movie is successful and it becomes a franchise, you will need someone who can still be believable as Wonder Woman in six-seven years.

There are exceptions to that rule. Wesley Snipes started doing Blade at 35 I think, just finishing up at 41 or 42 right now. It's not really about age it's about being able to take care of yourself and maintain your looks. Wesley Snipes and Brad Pitt are examples of such.
