Roughneck
09-05-2003, 11:37 AM
I will start but if I see this as any Epic pitch other than my own I will be upset.

Mark dunville has always had a hatred for crime. No particular reason, no great tragedy just pure disgust. He has also had a facination with superheroes. He trained all of his life and when he grew up he grew up huge. He was six foot seven and two hundred and sixty pounds of muscle. It was his eighteenth birthday when he first went out in his balck mask with his baseball beside him in his rusty old pick up and the Roughneck. Nothing great happened that night he just stopped a couple of guys from stealing a car and saved a woman from being mugged. He dropped the woman and the tied up mugger off at the police station. She wanted to know who he was and like an idiot he left the plated on his truck. A few nights later mad scientist Dr Epic planted a bomb in a bank hoping to lure a real superhero to trap, experiment on and turn into his minion.

He tied Roughneck down and implanted a metal plate into his back and one in each forearm. The plates in his forearms could each extend into two foot wide shields. After augmenting his strenght the Doctor was going to give Roughneck the mind control drug but he was interrupted by an uninvolved fight between spiderman and the Rhino. Roughneck was now free and he quickly vanquished Dr. Epic and his minions Prolouge and Epilouge. The Roughneck was now more powerful so he could take his fighting higher than street level crime.

While sitting at home one day Mark had a knock on his door. He answered it to see the woman he had saved earlier. It turns out that she works at the DMV. Well how about that.

Please dont be afraid that someone will steal your ideas. This is all in good fun and hearing new stories to entertain us.

ok, so there's this guy named Guy stickymann. he walks down a dark alley and gets kidnapped.this scientist guy, who had his helpers kidnap him, has Guy strapped to a table. the doc has had a lil too much to drink so wut he does never actually make sense. he starts telling Guy what he plans to do with him like, "I'm gonna eat ya...but before i do that,im gonna fuse ur dna to that of an ordinary glue bottle. i know what you're thinking, you think im crazy and youre right! HAHAHAHAHA!" then he pulls the lever and a bright beam of science comes out of a machine and hits both the glue bottle and guy stickymann. Guy is screaming in pain and you can see his body start to change. Suddenly a bright flash! the beam is gone and you see guy. he 's passed out. when he comes to, he see's the docter staring at him with a fork and knife and a bib. drool slowly dripping from the docs mouth. guy knew what was happening and he knew he had to get away. he spat at the doc and was surprised to see that his spit was now glue.the doc screamed in pain. guy got up and ran out the door. not knowing what he had created, the docter stopped guy from leaving. he told him that he had made guy's body fluids glue and that if he let him, he could help him be a hero and use his powers for justice. guy agreed and the doc created him a costume that would not be affected by his glue powers. he also created a special glue gun that guy could put his fluids in. that day Glue-Man was born and with the help of the crazy scientist, canada was safe once again...

Okay so here goes,
Tony Spears is an ordinary 23yr old man who lives in Baltimore Md. One day he wakes up in an abandoned factory chained to a massive concrete wall. Groggy and still disoriented he tries to recall where is and how he managed to get in this predicament. The last thing he can remember is falling alseep on his couch watching a movie. As Tony mentally struggles to regain consciouness he feels his limbs begining to tingle and grow numb. In an effort to free himself he pulls the 12" titanium spikes from the wall and falls face first on the floor. With his legs still bound he drags himself and the wall a couple of feet before he realizes that he just dragged a 2 ton concrete wall. Realizing his new found strength Tony turns over on his side and removes the spikes and chains that have his feet bound. As he is cleaning himself off he looks up to find a beautiful brown skin, dark haired woman standing in front of him smiling. She says "glad to see you're awake, now let's get started". Still confused Tony asks her "what is this place and why am I here". She proceeds to tell him that he was randomly picked to be genetically altered for top secret government affairs. She delves further to inform him that his body can withstand temperatures as high as 5500 degrees Kelvin ( temp of sun),he can also lift 100 times his own body weight, and lastly she informs him that both his speed and agility have been increased ten fold. Still confused Tony tried to break down the door that separated him from the outside world and was severly electricuted. The young tried to calm him down and assure him that he was safe. She showed him a S.H.I.E.L.D. Identification card and promised that she would train him as best as possible.
One year later Tony chose to spearhead a S.H.I.E.L.D team of super humans, Tony's new name or code name was Onslaught.

I don't want to do bad things... I don't. It seems I'm destined, quite litereally according to some mystic named "Cassandra" to be a destroyer, to be an anhilator, a divider.. to be

The Apollyon

Jacob Washington has class 85 super strength, flight, the ability to detonate objects he focuses his mind on, the power to controll swarms of insects and invulnerability. whenever he acesses these powers, a red glowing omega symbol illuminates around his right eye.

On his twentieth birthday Jacob was dragged by his bestfriend to a mystic who begrudgingly told him his fortune. the mystic screamed and leapt back the moment she touched him as a red light began to pour from him and an omega lit up on his palm. "Destroyer..." she whispered in fear and awe, "Apollyon!"

hey guys

you only have a first post once and you went for "hey guys"...?:p Joke. welcome to SHH

character X is a normal mutant-fearing father, with a boring desk-job and an average wife and kid. or so he thinks. one night a gang of armed mutant-hating men invade his house on a tip that a well-known mutant superhero lives there. Having denied any knowledge of what they want, the gang kills X's wife and upon believing that indeed they have the wrong house they go to kill X himself. X's bloodied and beaten teenage son then turns round and confesses to being the "White Knight", a local superhero dubbed as such by an ever praising local paper. Not wishing to see his father killed as his mother was, he breaks down before them. The last thing he sees on his father's face is disappointment. The gang shoots them all dead.

Waking up in hospital X discovers his house was burned down, he'd been shot through the heart and his wife and son had been burned to death. Further more, as a last ditch attempt to save his life, doctors gave X an emergency transplant -- his mutant son's heart.
(X was pulled out of the fire by his neighbour and his neighbour's ditsy beat-down wife -- look! supporting cast already .)

The mutant heart of his son accelerates his healing, strength, speed and endurance to just above peak human level. When he holds up the hospital staff at gunpoint later in the week, trying desperately to find "the animal who ripped my son's heart out", a local policeman/security guard shoots him through the heart once more, unleashing its power. Whenever injured it will unleash a blinding white light that destroys all life it touches, comparable to an explosion - healing X in the process.

his initial mission? revenge! link to modern day U-men -- sublime's group of mutant-organ enhanced humans and a conspiracy to use X as a testsubject. I have good stuff planned.

I always thought this character could be rooted in the Marvel universe or made an independet book.

I will sue if this ends up in someone's title. Putting this online is at least some sort of evidence of me being first creator :p

Cassandra plays the mentor role though she keeps insisting that she's never wrong about the future.

Cassandra is a powerful mystic with lots of knowledge of magic. She seems to simply idolize Dr. Strange, having a pin up of him in a speedo in her room. She never does admit how she got that picture.

The friend who drug Jacob to the mystic in the first place is Coleen, a sweet well intentioned girl who comes from a rich family. she is an absolute clutz, and a hazard if she is carrying something dangerous. She's playfully suggested that she act as his sidekick "Tripping-Girl". He lost both his parents in the sept. 11th attacks, and lives on campus, spending his holidays with Coleen. his relationship with her is completely platonic because, despite her dipsy california girl attitude, she is a lesbian. They hang out and go to bars together often locking horns when they set their sights on the same girl.

after his powers are unleashed she starts to study all recorded instances of prophesies and altering future events.

Coleen's major is Pre-Law, with the intention of moving to New York to work for the metahuman law firm She-Hulk works for (Her life long dream is to kiss She-Hulk).

Jacob is a buisness major taking a lot of political classes. His dream was to become the first black president, but he figures they aren't likely to elect a black Meta-human president.

Professor Zip- He was a mild closet pervert until he became a botanist. With all of his freetime he continued to develop plants to do his bidding. until one day his own plant shot spores upon him that caused his body to decay. He began to look so horrid he had to wear a surgical mask at all times. His pervertedness began to grow along with his research into his plants. One day the girl who was also his student was kidnapped along with one of his recently seeded plants and he's out to find her. she may be the only one who will love him now.:o He is nicknamed Zip since he purposely keeps is zipper down

It's Greek for "Destroyer," and another name given to the Hebrew "Abaddon," or Satan. If you're not familiar with many Greek words, I can understand how the annunciation is odd to you.

Zoken
07-16-2006, 09:37 PM
Actually, Kotagg, not to argue with you, just a fun point, there are some who believe that Apollyon refers to the Angel Michael since Abaddon is refered to as "The Angel of the Pit"

Kotagg
07-16-2006, 10:26 PM
Yeah, that's another version. To be fair, both are applicable. Apollyon being IN the pit, and Michael guarding it, both can be called that. However, "Destroyer" just seems funny to me in reference to an angel that is supposed to be divinely benevolent. ;)

If you recall, Jesus made statements to the effect that he was not a uniter but a divider. he claimed he would turn father against son, and mother against daughter. He claimed he would destroy the temple.

I'm an adamant Catholic, nice to meet you. well all of that is kind of what I drive at with his series. the meaning of destroyer. he has another set of powers, without strength or invulnerablity, he can access other powers wich cause an Alpha to glow over his right eye. these include healing, calming, purifying, and alchemy, but he isn't really aware of these powers.

Another level to Cassandra's character, was to add the fact that she is a serious sorceress. She sticks mostly to Hogath, as Strange goes with Agamotto. As Strange has his Eye of Agamotto, Cassandra has the Staff of Hogath (Which is mostly for defensive spells).

I imagined an issue in which Apollyon is beset by a mystical illness, something like a teporary poison. Cassandra easily diagnoses him, and knows that only one being would have dared do this to him. and Mephisto reveals himself. Cassandra then flexes her mystic might, but all she does is hold off Mephisto (Who wants to take control of the Apollyon for himself). eventually even Cassandra is knocked away. and in a moment of desperation, Colleen grabs the staff that Cassandra dropped and slams it to the ground, like she watched Cassandra do, and screams out "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!" (okay, so I ripped off LotR, sue me). The staff takes the emotion she puts into that declaration and activates the Ring of Hogath, a powerful protective spell, hodling off Mephisto just long enough for the diseas/poison to finish its course in Apollyon and let him fight on his own. the point here being that he can't beat Mephisto, but he'd be strong enough to resist enough that Mephisto couldn't control him.

I had an idea for two characters who may or may not be brothers.
I call them Ruckus and Fracas.
Fracas had all physical abilities. Strength, speed invulnerability etc at reasonably high levels (ie 40 ton range, bullet proof, top speed at about 75mph) no superhuman reflexes or agility though and no particularly exceptional fighting skills. basically just a brawler.
Ruckus had energy powers. the ability to project bolts or beams of energy as well as make some basic energy constructs like shields or cages or such. unlike his brother he spent a good deal of time learning focus and honing skills.

The two would work together in a style similar to Heroes for Hire but they wouldnt do it very well. They're personal styles would always be in conflict and they'd often argue or even fight.
It would be comedic as well as action packed.
The idea would be to be reminiscent of anyone working with their family.
It'd be like Kenny vs Spenny meets brothers in arms meets Heroes for Hire.

I had an idea for a couple of super-heroes somewhat at odds too.

the Magno brothers. Cutter and Tank.

twin brother, identical down to their power, but opposite in personality.

Cutter is smart, and sharp witted. (School quizbowl team). like his brother he has magnetic powers. he uses his to work blades. since he can shape the metal to his will, he will put bladed armor on his body, small blades to fling, and long blades to wield as swords.

Tank is more physical. (School weightlifting club. Rugby team). He uses his magnetic powers to form heavy armor and big heavy projectiles to hurl onto his enemies.

the one person both fear... is their mum. They don't know it, but before they were born she was in Her Royal Magesties Special Air Services, and trained as a top level agent. she resigned when her children were born, but used her manipulation tactics to raise to sons she is quite proud of. she's very loving, make no mistake. but she is still the only person that can seperate the two of them when they start squabbling... well, the very threat of her can seperate them ("Don't make me fly your mother out here!")

Again, its your world view. and I, for one, believe the creation in Genisis to be metaphorical. again, there were no humans to witness it. I believe that those who wrote the bible, tried to explain things in a way they could understand. It might suprise you to know that I believe in the Horrendous Space Kablooie and Evolution. I think science is simply HOW, and God is WHY. different world views. you've not shaken me. I will admit I find it... inane how people think that they are heroic because they chose to believe differently than their family or community, but I don't think that that opinion will color how I view your future postings. We are all amalgams of our experiences and natures, and emotions. so while I might find one part of your ideology offensive (as you might of mine) It doesn't preclude me form accepting other parts. By the way, I love good theological and philosophical discussions, so long as they don't get combative and about conversion.

I had an idea for a series that centers around the kids at Xaivier's school. It wouldn't have any super heroics or big action besides that relating to the X-Men directly that would only be mentioned or seen breifly in the series. The series would be more of a comedy/drama than an action book. The main cats of the book would either not have powers and instead simply be deformed in some way, or have powers that are basically useless. They are:

Two for One, male conjoined twins who have two seperate heads but share one body.

6, a boy born with six fully functional fingers on each hand.

Lush, a girl with three livers.

Spyder, a girl with a third vistigial arm on her left side.

And Bloodhound, a boy with a superhuman sense of smell (although not as good as Wolverine's).

Rick --- Hydrokinesis (Water), Sonokinesis (Sound)
Rod --- Pyrokinesis (Fire), Photokinesis (Light)
Willy --- Aerokinesis (Air), Atmokinesis (Weather)
Woody --- Geokinesis (Earth), Chlorokinesis (Plants)

Costumes: Black, kevlar reinforced leather suit, consisting of gloves, jacket, pants, and steel-toed boots. Dragon Skin/Liquid Dilatant combination under armor. Built in knuckle dusters, two-way radio, military knee and elbow pads, armored codpiece, and a titanium alloy back brace.
Trim colors: Lance=White, Rick=Blue, Rod=Red, Willy=Yellow, Woody=Green

Fun Fact #1: Lance can levitate (like Magneto) and by using the metal in his brothers' suits, he can levitate them as well. Thus they often arrive to a fight or a crime scene flying in formation, and most people think they can all fly.

Fun Fact #2: Rick/Rod, and Willy/Woody, are both sets of Irish twins. They were born within nine to twelve months of each other.

Fun Fact #3: Like the Jackson 5 or the Jonas Brothers, the Johnson Five are teen pop stars whose careers are overseen by their parents, only they're superheroes instead of musicians. There's even a live-action kids show based on their exploits on the Disney Channel.
