At least some action happens on Facebook and it doesn't get bogged down, the people you talk to all live closeby so you could actually get your social life on, and you can actually upload hundreds of photos and tag them to each other pages, I mean everyone loves photos. I just think it's funny that MySpace has become this place where when even a mildly attractive girl wants a booster shot to the self esteem she just posts a cleavage shot and then has 3 dozen more "friends" by the end of the week. I guess it is the "free attention like tv" analogy someone else posted earlier. I guess the reason I find it humorous and yet kind of disturbing is this attitude that so many girls have today that looks are all that count and their almost desperate need to feel pretty.

It's not that there's anything wrong with wanting to be desired and let's face it, it's far more important for a woman to be physically attractive than it is for a man, but it seems to me that there are far too many girls/women out there that sacrifice any sort of interesting personality for the sake of their looks. The attitude that if I'm hot enough I can get whatever I want just doesn't fly with me. Sorry if I think that having an actual personality, some independent thought, and some inteligence are important qualities to have in a person. All I'm saying is that I think it's funny how basically for many of the girls and I guess guys too on MySpace is that it's just a place for them to get recognition. These girls just post these pics to get guys drooling over them to feed their almost desperate need to feel pretty, therefore making themselves feel better about themselves. It to me is another example of young women in modern society being far more concerned about how they look than developing a personality, some inteligence, and some independence. That's all, and if that sounds harsh, it's cause it's the truth.

I just think it's funny that MySpace has become this place where when even a mildly attractive girl wants a booster shot to the self esteem she just posts a cleavage shot and then has 3 dozen more "friends" by the end of the week. I guess it is the "free attention like tv" analogy someone else posted earlier. I guess the reason I find it humorous and yet kind of disturbing is this attitude that so many girls have today that looks are all that count and their almost desperate need to feel pretty.

It's not that there's anything wrong with wanting to be desired and let's face it, it's far more important for a woman to be physically attractive than it is for a man, but it seems to me that there are far too many girls/women out there that sacrifice any sort of interesting personality for the sake of their looks. The attitude that if I'm hot enough I can get whatever I want just doesn't fly with me. Sorry if I think that having an actual personality, some independent thought, and some inteligence are important qualities to have in a person. Hot looks are a great thing, as a man I won't deny this, but they're not everything.

Agreed. I'll admit as a man that it is a large motivating factor, but it's not everything. Guys are individuals too and the order in which we place priority for our needs/wants/preferences varies by individual.
