Undertaker and Mark Henry is going to suck. We all know that. If this is really going to be Undertaker's last Mania, set up a cross-promotional match between him and Kane or something like that.

Still, it's pretty low. I don't ever recall the RR winner not main-eventing WM. At least since they started the whole 'title shot' thing.
Vince Mcmahon in '99 won and didn't headline. Like I've said, Orton would benefit more from being champ than Rey anyway, Orton is the future of the company not Rey.

Then Orton should have won the Rumble. Booking Rey to go over only to lose it was just silly.

You act like Taker is head booker or something. Can't you put aside whatever anti-Taker bias you have for a moment and look at this objectively? You act like the Undertaker killed your father and raped your mother. Taker even made a request that Angle be his WM opponent.
Taker's been asked to do the job before and refused to do so. No I don't expect him to elevate Mark Henry. But I expect him to elevate guys like Jericho, Benoit, etc. which he never did. Taker is in a position where if he wanted, he could be putting people who deserve it over.
No one is going to give two craps about Henry vs. Taker at Wrestlemania. Its just another easy match for Taker that he can coast through and keep his silly winning streak intact.
There is also absolutely no reason why we should see Vince McMahon vs. HBK at Wrestlemania. Why not give the fans something they WANT to see like HBK vs. RVD? A fresh match and a fresh feud. This McMahon/HBK feud is garbage.

The reason Rey won the rumble was to get Orton out of the Undertaker/Angle upcoming fued. It was to help create/elevate a storyline, the exact reason why Mcmahon won the rumble in 99 was to elevate his program with SCSA. So Rey winning then losing is not "silly" if played out right Orton/Rey could continue a fued after Angle loses the belt to Orton at WM.

Prior to wrestlemania 2000 the Rock won the rumble and lost to big show at no way out. At that time big show was suppose to be the number one contender. The main event of mania was the fatal four way match.

That could work out, but usually they don't pick up storylines after they cooled. I don't see WWE going back to Rey/Orton after WM. It's not that it wouldn't work or be good, it's that their idea of a feud lately has to be so linear. Guys will go at it for a couple of months, then hardly ever interact again.
I actually like your idea. I thinks it's better when a feud builds up gradually instead of just at once. Have it simmer. The 'silly' reference is more a judgment of WWE booking and what I think they'll do.

Okay, I hate to end “Foley is BLOG” on a down note, but after watching the Royal Rumble on Sunday, I couldn’t help but feel that I’d been witness to the beginning of the decline of Edge’s career. I give him all the credit in the world for climbing the mountaintop — a feat many never envisioned for him — and one he accomplished through hard work and a history of great matches. But I’m not sure if Edge will ever make it to the top again. And that’s sad. For in my opinion, Edge didn’t fall off that mountaintop; he was pushed.
Doesn't look much like a feud set up to me.
And I'm pretty sure Foley is BLOG is a shoot.

They should have the final be RVD vs HHH and end in a double pin to set up a triple threat at WM22 so that at least one face will be in the match who has more than 40% crowd support

Quote:
Ring of Honor and Low Ki, the initial face of the company and first ROH champion, both issued statements early this morning announcing that the two sides would not be working together in the future.
On his official website, Low-Ki.com, Ki wrote, "It is with great regret that I will not be participating in future Ring Of Honor events. Unfortunately, terms and conditions cannot be agreed upon and will end business altogether. My apologies for any inconvenience towards the fans of this company and who have supported me in throughout my tenure as a member of the company."
ROH booker Gabe Sapolsky soon followed up on the ROH message board, commenting, "There has been a disagreement in business arrangements between Low Ki and ROH management. Low Ki has canceled all his ROH bookings as stated in a headline at Low-Ki.com. We will announce new matches for the ones that Ki has already been advertised in next week. This will mark the end of Low Ki in ROH. We are sorry things turned out this way and apologize to the ROH fans for the lineup changes."
Ki, who has butted heads with Sapolsky in the past, was booked for several main events including 2/11 in Long Island, New York vs. Roderick Strong, ROH's ECW Arena debut on 3/11 (Ki & Christopher Daniels vs. Bryan Danielson & Samoa Joe) and a reprisal of the first ROH main event (a Three-Way with Bryan Danielson, Ki, and Christopher Daniels) on 4/22. Whatever plans were already motion, ROH will have to start from scratch and rebook. Given the time this story is going to press, it's impossible to contact either party for comment, although I suspect given the wording of the statements that neither side will be interested in commenting.
When Ring of Honor first debuted in February 2002, Ki was the top draw and star for the promotion. He was the first ROH champion as well. A disagreement between he and Sapolsky led to his departure from the promotion. He returned several months later at ROH's Second Anniversary show. Ki departed again after the Henery Hawk NBC situation, publicly distancing himself from the company in statements made on his website. He returned to ROH in July 2004, turning heel on Samoa Joe, and had been working alongside Homicide as the two main forces in the Rottweilers. He had major feuds with Christopher Daniels, Samoa Joe, Jay Lethal, and Bryan Danielson (among others)during his tenure with the company. A December 2005 singles bout against NOAH's KENTA at Final Battle 2005 was massively praised and is just starting to make the rounds as it was released on VHS and DVD by ROH.
Low-Ki.com lists Ki as working regularly for Pro Wrestling NOAH in Japan as well as competing on 4/8 in the tenth annual ECWA Super 8 tournament in Newark, Delaware. Ki won the 2001 edition of the tournament.

That Bret Hart DVD is awesome, I'm glad I bought it. I was thinking the other day, had Bret Hart not suffered a concussion at the hands (ie foot) of Bill Goldberg, it is possible he would've had several title runs throughout 2000, and could have been the champ when Vince bought WCW. That would've been a hell of a situation to be in, but if they could've let bygones be bygones, there could've been some amazing storylines if Hart returned to the company that screwed him as the reigning WCW champion in a time where Stonecold was the WWE champion, reigniting a classic feud but with the stakes raised. I realise Bret probably would've never participated had that scenario played out, hell, I don't put it past Vince to have given him the same treatment he gave Luger and Jarrett when the final Nitro aired and he crossed live from Raw. Still, what could've been, if only Bret had left the WWE in better terms and Goldberg hadn't hurt him.

Dave Meltzer is reporting that the Money in the Bank ladder match done at last years Wrestlemania may return again this year.
Credit: PWInsider
-- It's still unknown where the next ECW PPV will be held, however you can be almost sure that it won't be at the old ECW Arena.
-- WWE has contacted Terry Funk about appearing at the next ECW One Night Stand event. They have contacted him very early, and it's likely to lock these guys in before the Hardcore Homecoming show gets them.
-- It's likely that the PPV will be built around RVD.
-- Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko are pushing for a match against each other at the next ECW PPV. Malenko hasn't wrestled in about four years now, however they want to face each other and do a Eddie Guerrero memorial match.

Ah, so what? People revoked their memberships to the Undertaker fan club because he shows up when he wants and is known for not putting certain guys over. I've always been a huge fan. He's been my favorite wrestler since I first started watching in the early 90's. He's done so much for not only WWE but the wrestling industry that I think he should be able to have a say in anything and everything. I know not everyone's going to agree and think that I'm biased, but that's fine. I just think he's one of the few TRUE superstars that take the wrestling world by storm and have staying power where you can build a company around him (Rock, Austin, Hogan, etc.)
Anyway, just thought I'd speak up on the subject. He's obviously in the latter stage of his career and after being with one company for about 15 yrs. he should atleast have SOME power when it comes to controlling the direction his character/feud goes in. I'm done rambling. Have a good weekend, gentlemen.

I don't find it sad, I'm just sick of the whole Eddie thing. He died, its a part of life, get over it. If WWE wants to use it for heel heat, fine, if Rey wants to use it, fine, but for everyone *****ing about the heel heat, just remember, wrestling is a male soap opera with men "beating each other up" while wearing underwear. Was Eddie's death real, of course, but its a part of life, and he was in an industry that doesn't think twice about using death as a catalyst.

PWInsider reports that there were a lot of people on the creative team and in management who thought that it was a mistake to put the title back on Cena at the Rumble, but obviously more people higher up, including Triple H, decided otherwise. There is a feeling that a lot of the hatred from fans towards Cena went away once they took the title off.
The decision to give the title back to Cena appears to be the result of WrestleMania plans. Triple H has been making it known that he wants to wrestle against Cena at Mania for the WWE title.

Orton won and here's how it happend.
Angle was outside of the ring with Mark Henry, and he was about to get thrown into the metal side of the turn buckle when Angle reversed it so that Henry would be the one to take the hit. After that Daivari came up behind Angle and hit him. Angle got ticked and started chasing him, which led into the crowd and all the way back stage while Henry followed to back up Daivari. Orton and Mysterio were the only ones left in the ring, and thats when Orton won be cheating. He grabs a mic, and says this to Rey..."Rey, you have have as much a chance of winning the World Heavy Weight title as Eddie does coming back to life." With all the being said Rey accepts his challenge, and will face him at NWO.

I know how you feel about it punishermax (I read your earlier post). Still though, I think it's very disrespectful for WWE to hold a huge tribure for Eddie (out of kayfabe) and then act all indignent (kayfabe) afterward.
I understand getting heel heat and 'going on with the show', but there needs to be a line. I know that Orton and Triple H (both of whom I saw bawling about Eddie's passing) mean no intended harm. This decision comes from the top and I know guys are just doing what the boss tells them. It's truly sad that WWE feels this is an acceptable way to push the storyline. Furthermore, it's more of a statement on the contrived booking on WWE's part.
punishermax
02-04-2006, 03:17 AM
Its the part where he said he lost respect for Orton, do not take it out on the wrestlers who are told to do something, no matter how ridiculous, by their bosses. I've had to do things at my job that I thought were ass backwards but my boss told me to do it, if I didn't I'd be in deep ****, same thing with Orton, if he didn't do it he'd be in deep ****. Don't lose respect for the wrestlers, lose your respect for the writers. (If you have any respect left for the writers)
Mister J
02-04-2006, 03:33 AM
Absolutely. It is the writers. It seems that everything that isn't met with incredible resistance (i.e., loss of $$$$$) is acceptable. I believe it's that there are more storyline writers, than people who know about wrestling. Vince wants to make beaucoup dollars and the 'boys' don't want to speak out of turn.
I know Vince cares about Eddie's memory and I'm sure he doesn't feel he's doing anything wrong. However, I just can't let go of the disgust and anger I feel about what has been done lately in regard to Eddie. Storylines are one thing, a honorable man's memory is another. Vince should know better.

The Rock has had a couple of DVD's already, since he has only had 4 matches in the last 31/2 years there isnt any need for a new one
Who says they have to be matches, or recent for that matter. As great as the "collection" dvds are, I really love the documentary/interview style dvds. And a Rock story of his rise to mediocre movie stardom would be awesome
Hey, I actually wouldn't be surprised if they brought back Papa Shango one of these days, if only for a one-time thing. Just have him confront Boogeyman and just get absolutely sick over what Boogeyman does.
That would be pretty funny but I think after Godfather got over the way he did, Vince wouldn't dream of going back even for one night.
Speaking of which, they should really tag-team Boogey with Goldust. Goldust isn't that bad of a wrestler and could carry a good match. Plus, if they play Goldie as the "straight" member of the tag-team, it would result in some hilarity :o
Goldust is awesome. I like the theatrical & goofy gimmicks when backed by good wrestling. That's why I'm a Taker, Kane, Foley (Mankind/Dude Love), Goldust & Blue Meanie mark. They all do great things to the point where when you see them wrestle you forget their gimmicks. People like Boogeyman, Papa Shango & Eugene geet boring because their gimicks are their matches & that's why they suck. A tag teeam with Goldust & Boogeyman would be pretty funny. But Goldust would have to carry the matches.

I thought he was on the shelf too. It really doesn't seem as if he would come out if he was still active on the scene. Call it homophobia or whatever, but wrestling is still very much a 'boys club' and the ribbing he would take would be relentless (good-natured or not).

-- There are some people backstage who are upset at Triple H because he was pushing for Edge to lose the title to Cena at Royal Rumble to line himself up for a title match with Cena at WrestleMania. Many people thought that Edge was doing very well as champion and had managed to get himself over with the fans.

Hey, it all works out. We get to see Triple H bury Cena! :)
Granted I'm disappointed that he pushed for Edge to lose the title, but either way, as long as Cena loses at WM and goes back to where he belongs in the mid-card abyss then I'm satisfied.

I can understand Shawn being initially upset, but it's 5 months later and he's still pissed? Shawn needs to get over it. He's one of the best wrestlers ever to grace the ring. Flair jobbed to many lesser wrestlers back in the 80's and it never hurt his character with the fans, because it was already quite obvious who the better wrestler was, and the same applys to Shawn now.

Hogan, Austin, Rock and Bret are all still no’s with Hogan being the only likely change

Dave was told by WWE employee that’s management lost a lot of wrestlers respect with the Eddy is in Hell storyline. Chavo Gurrero put his head in his hands during the taping of the segment.
Tatanka is 44 years old. (Warlord was contacted at 46, and Greg Valentine is in his 50’s)

Dave thinks Angle/Henry was Kurt’s worst match ever and said the live fans were leaving
SD! Ratings went up 400,000 for Boogey man’s segment recently, but Rey is still by and large the most consistent draw
Shawn Micheals asked to be removed as a full timer after WMania. He will come in for big shots ala Hogan.
Micheals was frustrated by the lack of promotion for his book as well
Angle reinjured his neck vs Micheals on jan 16th.
Eddy will be getting the HOF nod this year
WWE will soon have a Fidel Castro Parody and a “tag team doing a modern day Bushwackers gimmick”
Johnny Ace used Eddy Gurrero’s funeral as a recruiting center and that how Charlie Haas got resigned. Ace’s actions annoyed a lot of people. Haas wasn’t the only one either…

Hey, I've been a huge Carlito mark for the longest time. He's shown before he has decent wrestling skills, it's just that the WWE wants to make him the cowardly heel, which works for him as well....
And color me totally impressed with that nifty little move Carlito did this week
I was not expecting that move. I thought he was going to go for a double axehandle from the top when he climbed the ropes. But he then pulled a springboard corkscrew moonsault I was more than impressed. If he can do those moves, why hasn't done them more often? He pulled it off very well (albeit he looked a bit stiff when flipping through the air) and if RVD was closer he would have hit it perfectly. I hope Carlito can add a few more arial moves to his set, would really even him out as a performer.
Now, I want to see RVD and Carlito a few more times after that match, see what else they can do together.

I always said Carlito was green, but that's because WWE takes a lot of guys who are too young. People who haven't learned how to carry a match themselves. But of all the OVW guys, Masters is the only one who has not shown improvement at all. Other guys like Carlito, MNM & Cena have improved greatly. Another funny story from Meltzer was how HHH held a meeting with the locker room and RVD was nowhere to be found. HHH sees him in the parking, pats him in the back, placing his arm around him and says "Hey buddy, where have you been?" RVD puts Trip's arm away and says "I've been out smoking dope while you were burying me behind my back, you know where I've been."

Was it me or did Cena get booed last night? I heard a mix of cheers and boos, the boos seem to drown out the stupid smark cheers he received.
Triple H got a pretty big pop last night and it's going to be hysterical when Cena is booed out of the arena against Triple H at WM. :)
If they do go at it at WM, the crowd will be harder on Cena than they were when Scott Steiner had that feud with Triple H.

(that doesn't mean I'm in anyway closer to being a Cena mark.)
Speaking of, doesn't it look like OVW is a hotter place to be than the actual WWE, with all the talent they have there?
I totally agree about Carlito. He's been brought up to the main event waaay to quickly. I can see him as a main-eventer, but in like ten years or so, not right now. Look how long it took for JBL, Edge, and even Rey Mysterio to be considered main-eventers. Too many guys are being pushed to the main event quickly nowadays - Cena and Orton for example.
And yeah. Just looking at the clip of all the OVW gimmicks made me very interested in what they have in store. And is it really any coincidence that Paul Heyman is in charge of OVW at the moment? ;)

I always enjoyed the work of Brian Pillman. He was very underrated and should've been pushed a lot harder than he was, now in my opinion, he should've been WCW champion during his career there.
He had the talent, the look, the mic skills, and his ability to produce great matches really made him a masterpiece.
I love that picture of him holding all the belts, that was when he was a member of the Hart Foundation.
RIP Pillman.

Hopefully the Pillman DVD is mostly his WCW pre 1995 work, as that's all pretty excellent. Matches I want on it:
vs. Ric Flair (WCW/NWA 1989-ish)
vs. Lex Luger for the US title (Halloween Havoc 1989)
vs. Richard Morton for the first WCW light heavyweight title
vs. Jushin Liger for the light heavyweight title (Winterfest 1991)
vs. Jushin Liger for the light heavyweight title (Superbrawl II, one of the greates matches of all time)
War Games 1991 (WCW Wrestlewar 1991, Sid DEMOLISHES Pillman)
vs. Ricky The Dragon Steamboat (WCW Halloween Havoc 1992)
vs. Sting (WCW US title tournament match, 1995)
vs. Johnny B. Badd (Fall Brawl 1995)
various Hollywood Blondes matches
Any other specific ones guys?

I wouldnt mind seeing some of Pillman's ECW work as well. Although brief, I think his stint with Heyman's promotion was pretty memorable. Something else I wouldnt mind included would be the Austin/Pillman skit with Austin breaking into Pillman's home, and Pillman pulling out a gun and pointing it at Austin.
I dont believe that skit was really smiled upon by WWF/WWE brass back then, but I remember it being talked about for years afterwards. So I wouldnt mind seeing that again, as it has been quite sometime since I've seen that.
I also suppose Brian Pillman's feud with Goldust will have to be atleast briefly mentioned in the DVD as well. As he was right in the middle of that when his untimely death transpired.
Very talented, and charasmatic wrestler he was. RIP.

Joel Maximo, one half of the JAPW Tag Team Champions along with his brother Jose Maximo was stabbed yesterday. The attack occurred during an attempted robbery in Brooklyn, in which he was stabbed several times in the abdomen while fighting off the muggers. The attackers were not apprehended.
The WB Channel 11 morning news in New York City will be cutting away to a RoH ring during its Friday broadcast. The ring will be set up at East 42nd Street and Second Avenue in Manhattan.
Some more details have been released regarding the MTV wrestling company. Matt Sydal announced on his blog that he would be taking on Jack Evans. He also said a live band would be playing during the show.
****, I hope Maximo will be okay. And I hope to be able to see ROH on WB 11 Morning News. Knowing my luck, it will come on right after I leave for class.
