Oh well. It was rather predictable that Orton was going to win the title. I'm not too big of a fan of giving him the title that quickly, but what's done is done. We'll see in a few months if Orton really is gonna step up and be one of the "big players" on Raw or if he could be a failed experiment in the main event.
I'm hoping that Benoit does get a rematch though because IMO Benoit's reign as champion really helped to bring Raw around.

Ready or not, it's nice to see someone else with the belt for a change. In the last few months we've had JBL, Benoit, Guerrero, and now Orton win the WWE and World titles for the first time. It's like a fresh breath of air and I'm hoping the WWE continues this trend in the future.
Eric Draven
08-16-2004, 12:24 AM
That's true.
It's what made the WWF(E) exciting to watch back in the late 90s. You had previous mid-carders like Stone Cold, The Rock, Triple H, and Mick Foley moving up to the championship and putting on great matches.
It's probably also why the WWE was stagnating a year back. It was basically the same old same old dominating the main event.

Shawn Michaels was not backstage at the PPV. We have heard conflicting reports whether his wife delivered their baby or not, but we do know that he was not backstage at the show. There is definite word on when he will return to RAW at this point either.
There was some talk going around backstage among the wrestlers that management was unhappy with Mat Hardy's recent WWE.com column where he let out the fact that he needed knee surgery and would be out for around 8 months. As reported, WWE pulled the column from the website last week.
A bunch of workers praised Matt for his work last night despite his knee injury

I don't think fans and internet critics should be too hard on the Undertaker for being a "part timer." Even at his peak in the early to mid 1990s, his appearances on TV were as infrequent as they are now, which is why I made it a point never to miss a show when he was promoted to be on it.

Don't blame The Undertaker for not working full-time. It was the management's decision to give him less work if The Undertaker agreed to switch gimmicks for a WrestleMania 20 return. You can't blame the guy for taking up the offer. All he has to do is show up every other week and he still gets paid AND he's still in the main event picture.

I'd rather have A Dark, Deadman Undertaker who appears part-time then a Badass, Biker taker that appears full-time. Plus, instead of depending on taker so damn much, how about giving some stars a push, or putting some high profile names on smackdown? Undertakers been working at the WWE for 14 years straight, so IMO, he deserves part time. Hell, he deserves more than that.

Eric Draven
08-16-2004, 11:21 PM
Hell no, definitely not X-pac.
To be honest, I would rather keep Evolution with just Triple H, Batista, and Ric Flair anyways. That way, they have just one of the veteran, the current main-eventer, and the "future superstar". Which is exactly what Evolution should be.
Bringing in X-pac would just ruin the dynamic of the group IMO.
Besides, this way, the three could feud with a team that consists of Benoit, Orton, and maybe someone like Eugene
0 Degrees
08-16-2004, 11:29 PM
Ugh, no more Eugene please! I've been wanting Orton to leave or be ousted from Evolution for a long time. They weren't supporting him, they were holding him back. I like Benoit in the ring, but he doesn't bring too much to the mic besides saying things like, "Oh, I will beat you!".
As for Edge, I wouldn't say he's going heel, just giving Jericho a little karma / payback. They could really go either way with this and have Edge and Jericho let the past be or escalate their feud.
The current tag teams bore me, I haven't been interested in tag team matches since the Hardy Boyz. Speaking of which, did Matt have a Punisher shirt on?
As for the Divas, I say bring on all the contestants, they're hotter than everyone else Raw has, except for Stacy.

Before he started dating Stephanie McMahon, :o
Anyway, I'll have to agree with you, Draven. I never really thought of tossing Regal into the mix. I wouldn't mind seeing that either. Regal has the ability to work on the mic. and in the ring, and is one of the few wrestlers who entertains me anymore. Hopefully he'll get his chance in the near future and hopefully we'll see him in a feud against Triple H. I thought we'd be seeing that in the next few weeks heading into Unforgiven, but it seems like we're going to see an Orton/Triple H feud. Like I said earlier, Evolution turning on Orton didn't surprise me at all. It was inevitable. What surprised me was the fact that it happened just one night after SummerSlam. I was thinking we would see Triple H getting jealous the next couple of weeks with the attention shifting to Orton after winning the gold, but I guess Vince wanted this feud to happen as soon as possible instead of seeing them face off down the road (WrestleMania 21.) Well, we'll see what happens. Looks promising so far. Wow, did I just say that about a WWE storyline? :o

Huge News: Austin Involved In Another Assault Incident; Drug Claims
Story By: Ben Johnson
August 17, 2004
The Los Angeles Times is reporting that Steve Austin and ex-girlfriend Tess Broussard were involved in another incident earlier this month.
Austin and business manager George Vrabeck brought Broussard to California, with the intentions of presenting her with a $1.5 million check. In exchange for the check, Broussard would move out of Austin's life and agree not to pursue legal ramifications for any past incidents.
"I'm not a rocket scientist," Austin told The Times "But I knew I had to get out of this relationship....The plan was to go out, have a nice steak, hand [Broussard] a check and get on with my life."
After eating dinner at Mastro's Steakhouse, the two went to meet Vrabeck. However, Broussard's mood changed. Austin's former girlfriend claimed that they were not breaking up, since they had a wonderful night. She started getting irate.
Broussard then got on top of a table and tried to stab Austin with a steak knife. Everyone went down in a scuffle, before Austin's security guard was able to handcuff Broussard. Vrabeck was cut in his arm, while Austin banged his head.
Softcore porn actress, Broussard, is now claiming a lawsuit worth $10 million has been fired against Austin for luring her to the restaurant to stage an assault. The lawsuit also brings up one of the domestic abuse incidents from Texas.
Tess' story claims that Austin threw her back into her chair, before the guard came and knocked her down. She then saw Vrabeck stabbing himself, to the point where he started bleeding. The guard then said "I saw you stab him," indicating that she'd been set up.
More comments from Broussard included, "[Austin] turned into another character — mean, horrible, violent and emotionally abusive. He drank every night, beginning at 6 p.m. until he would pass out around 1 a.m." When it was noted that Austin claimed she had a problem with medication, she responded, "He got me started on pills. He'd open my mouth like an animal and stick the pills in my mouth. He said, if I'm taking them, you're taking them too."
On the subject of why they keep seeing each other, Broussard offered, "I was naive. He'd apologize and say he'd change and go to counseling, but he never did. He told me I was his soul mate, so I kept going back and really believed in the relationship. But it was a lot of empty promises." Austin stated, "I kept seeing her because, as kooky as she was, I still loved her. I feel like I've been a pawn on the chessboard. I was too trusting and too nice, and that's what I'll have to live with."
Austin currently lives in Los Angeles with Diamond Dallas Page, and will be seen on the screen in Adam Sandler's "The Longest Yard."
WWE Gets Another Case Of Bad News With The RAW Rating
Story By: Ben Johnson
August 18, 2004
After last week's horrendous 3.2 rating, WWE posted a mere 3.4 rating this week, according to Nielsen Media Research, even though it was their annual post-Summerslam show. Some may blame the Olympics for this rating, but it is quite clear that WWE is not doing all it can to keep viewers entertained.
Both hours did a 3.4, with the highest number coming in the overrun, which did a 3.7. Since the overrun did the strongest rating, the ratings for the early segments next week will be a huge indication of whether or not fans were ready to see the Orton/Evolution turn at this point in time.
Tough Enough Returning, Lesnar Close To Making Vikings?
Story By: Ben Johnson
August 18, 2004
In what looks like a sign of Brock Lesnar making the Vikings' practice squad or just a smart business move to cash in on his publicity, or both, the Minnesota Vikings are selling a Brock Lesnar #69 jersey on their website. With a shipping date of 8/25, the jersey's listed at $65.
For those who don't read the SD *SPOILERS*, Tough Enough will return this fall. The winner will receive $1,000,000.
Eddie Guerrero Flips Out At Live Crowd, Issues Challenge
Story By: Ben Johnson
August 18, 2004
Thanks to Pat Harris for the following:
During the Guerrero interview at last night's Smackdown tapings, Eddie was getting some jeers from a couple young kids a few seats down (may have been Chimmel's fans). Nothing too offensive, just typical "You Suck Eddie" etc. After the interview Eddie eyed them down and held the ropes open for them to enter the ring. After the main event, Eddie was getting my ringside jeers (again, nothing terribly offensive) and he came over to those young kids again and started saying things like "who wants to be a man?" almost overly aggressive and challenging someone to try something. I have to say I was a little disappointed in that. I admire Eddie's ability in the ring immensely, but I thought that was a little low. If we were a heel, I'd probably rationalize it as a heel tactic; however, he is a face and a very over one at that.
- It should be noted that this is not the first time Eddie Guerrero has flipped over a live crowd's actions.
Bret Hart In SD vs. RAW, Austin Involved In WWE Argument, more
Story By: Ben Johnson
August 18, 2004
One of several wrestlers speaking out against the new WWE dress code, PWTorch.com reports that at a recent RAW meeting, Chris Jericho complained that the dress code takes away their individualism. He went onto question whether or not WWE would have made Steve Austin adhere to the dress code, since Austin was known to show up at WWE events wearing nothing more than a T-shirt and jean shorts.
Bret Hart is indeed in the upcoming SmackDown! vs. RAW video game, with new screenshots of Bret just added at IGN.com. THQ has been revealing a lot of information about the game with the hope that it will produce major sales.
Randy Orton-HHH Match @ Unforgiven; WrestleMania 21 Matches
Story By: Amish Patel
August 18, 2004
Credit: The Pro Wrestling Torch Newsletter
It seems that the next WWE RAW PPV (Unforgiven) could be headlined with the new Champion Randy Orton vs. Triple H. All recent reports suggested that the match would headline WrestleMania 21, but it seems WWE is speeding up the feud to try and counter low ratings and the imminent return of Monday Night Football.
If the feud proves to be a success then there is still the chance that we will still see WrestleMania 21 headlined with Randy Orton vs. Triple H. Other matches in the pipline include possible interpromotional matches featuring Orton vs. Cena, Orton vs. Angle, or Orton vs. The Undertaker.

Wrestling News
1Wrestling notes that the backstage panic to the low RAW ratings continued this week. The show only pulled in a 3.4, despite being the post-Summerslam episode. WWE receives roughly $600,000 each week to air RAW on TNN, and with the deal coming to an end shortly, low ratings will not help WWE in the negotiation process to get a similar or higher weekly fee.
Major Inside News: Real Reason For The Orton/Evolution Angle
Story By: Ben Johnson
August 19, 2004
PARTIAL SOURCE: PWTorch.com
After days of backstage investigation, it seems a general word is now available on the real reason WWE decided to hotshot the Evolution angle on RAW, which ultimately was Randy Orton's babyface turn.
The primary rationale behind the move was that WWE wanted to promote a babyface in a way that could improve business over both the short and long-term. Some may argue that subtle-building to an Orton/HHH match at WrestleMania would boost the buyrate in March, but it would be hard to justify such a move's positive effect over the short-term. WWE believes Randy Orton has the charisma and potential to be a top, "Rock" like babyface and really put fans in the seats at house shows, while boosting WWE PPV buyrates. Additionally, the surprise angle only made the turn seem more intense and more important, giving fans the feeling that Randy Orton is to be taken seriously. Rather than try to boost WWE's business by bringing in someone like Goldberg, as WWE has been known to do in the past, they felt a more effective strategy would be to promote someone "in-house."
Additionally, WWE agents noticed that Randy Orton was already beginning to get cheers from the fans, an indication that they were ready to support Orton as a babyface. Despite an obvious appeal with female fans, Orton appeals just as well to males due to his strong promos and very good in-ring work. Thus, he had the rare combination of across-the-board support and charisma that would allow him to get over well, in a way that someone like Edge (who was, at one point, supposed to be a part of the title picture) simply could not.

"At least 6" of Brock Lesnar's Minnesota Viking teammates initiated the former WWE Champion into their ranks by playing a rib on him at practice yesterday.

i thought eugene was going to go to smackdown this week considerig that backstage interview the two general managers were having about him, but then theodore announced the big show would be coming back. im sorry no offense to the big show but does anyone here really care that he is returning im glad about orton being kicked out of evoulution its been weeks in the making not a shocker to me. what annoyed me was batista saying "you are nothing without us" i think its safe to say batista would be nothing without evoulution either .
why do i have this feeling that the baby isnt even kanes that lita was sleeping around???
this is what i believe will happen
1. lita embraces kane
2.she tells him the baby might not be his either

how are SD's rating looking? Last week's whole show was off the chains, the ending was messed up a little, i would've preferred angle in the ring when they lost, or maybe his assistant should've poured the paint on eddie's car instead.
or better yet, angle and mysterio go backstage, angle whoops his ass, then he comes out with the paint.
raw's show was also good, one of the scenes that really cracked me up was the diva's bridal shower, it was great stuff!

And I HIGHLY doubt they'd ALL want her gone.
you must not have been paying attention the last couple of months.
from the very first moment i saw carmella's snotty ass in the auditions, i knew the only reason they picked her was because she was a playmate, she's not enthusiastic about anything in the least bit, she think she's better than everyone and she thinks because she's a playmate, her victory is ensured, IMO, all she has is a nice face.
she didn't even participate in diva dodgeball. if she can't participate in that, what else is she going to run out on in the future?
i'm not suprised at all all the other contestants wanted her out. i thought even after that little voting, she would change her attitude. but she didn't!!! almost like it went in one ear and came out the other. i hope her conceited ass gets eliminated very soon.
she thinks she's too good for the WWE, and I hope the fans can see that.
i hope tracie wins the competition, if not, Christy. Joy's points went down a few after carmella revealed she was married. Michelle would've made a great diva also.

just watch one episode of Smackdown
they pretty much run through everything
unless I am wrong you just got your hands on tickets for a house show
House shows have longer and better matches and they try new things to see how the fans react
the only bad thing is that the titles never change unless someone gets injured

My dad used to be a bounty hunter in the early 80s picking up people who skipped their bond hearing or something like that, and he had a warrant to go pick up an old wrestler from the 80s, a guy named Dick Murdoch, anyone remember him? Murdoch tried to fight back, but my dad took him down in some kind of judo hold and had Murdock almost crying.

Go Web Go!
08-30-2004, 11:27 PM
If the WWE chooses Carmella they'll be making a huge mistake. According to what I've been reading she doesn't get along with anyone backstage and the only reason she's there is for the money. Hell, it was just a few days ago that she got in some bar fight with another woman. Is that really what the WWE wants? She's trouble and if she does infact win the competition then I wouldn't count on her being around for more than 6 months.
Eric Draven
08-30-2004, 11:33 PM
Yeah, but on the other hand, she's a former playboy playmate. The WWE may just keep her as a diva, even for a few months, just for the publicity alone.
Yeah, it's kinda sad because she's the only contestant I don't want to win the contest. But I have a feeling the WWE settled on who was gonna win it a while ago....

Eric Draven
08-30-2004, 11:57 PM
Yep. I think it's the playboy syndrome. It seems like as soon as a diva poses in playboy, they start getting delusions of grandeur. Look at Sable and Chyna for example.
If they do get Carmella to win the thing, it'll be those two all over again. But even worse I imagine.

Later on, I saw the last final blonde chick (yay!) get eliminated and gave everyone the big phuck you.

Actually that last blonde that you're talking about flipped off Carmella. Then we saw the rest of the girls ''insult'' one another (they all took it easy on eachother except when it came to Carmella.) A lot of swearing in the segment which surprised me...Not the swearing, but the fact that it was actually entertaining.

And whats the Canadian Destroyer
Metamorpho1977
09-02-2004, 07:37 PM
AJ Styles is arguably one of the greatest fliers in pro wrestling, plus he's a good mat wrestler too. He reminds me a whole lot of Chris Benoit when he was first starting. He would have a huge following in the WWE, but he still has a respectable following mostly from indie circuits.
The Canadian Destroyer is a variation of the pile driver. It starts out as a sunset flip, and somehow he manages to flip the opponent over into a pile driver. It's a really exciting move to see him pull it off. It's a hard move to describe with words, it's really one of those you just have to see to understand.

I just started watching NWA-TNA just recently because one of the channels in my satellite provider finally started showing it. They're just starting from the very beginning though, like what I watched yesterday was an episode from July 2002.
I have to say, NWA-TNA isn't as great as I first thought it would be. It kinda reminds me a bit of a cheaper version of WCW. But I do have to admit, the X division is pretty entertaining. And I do have to agree with the consensus that AJ Styles is probably one of the better wrestlers around.

AJ Styles is from Canada?I have been watching some NWA-TNA on espn classics and it's pretty goodthe only good matches are X devision. It's only a matter of time before AJ moves to the WWE,which will suck cuz they will stop him from doing all of his good moves.
