Sherri Martel. Don't know much about 'er.
Sherri Martel was one of the best women wrestlers to ever step into a ring, and one of the best managers. The nly woman who might have been better than Sherri as a manager was Ms. Elizabeth. She really added to a lot of matches in a positive way back in the early/mid 90s.

It's a mixed crowd. Some rooting for Cena, some booing Show. Others booing Cena and actually cheering for Show.
Do you think that if Cena loses tonight, it could be do to the fact that Triple H said that he's hardly ever lost and the crowd agreed? That way they don't promote him as such a big tough guy...

Ugh, what a horrible, horrible Raw tonight. The whole Shawn-Shane match was just totally unwatchable. Poisoning Shawn? Didn't I see this one time on WCW? And didn't that kind of angle totally fail as well? What next? At SNME, they're going to break into Shawn's house and kidnap Shawn's wife and kid(s) and hold them hostage unless Shawn does the job to Shane?
And I was so hoping for at least hints of a Cena-Trips double turn. But nothing happened  :( Although I have to admit it was kinda cool to see Cena FU Show like that :o

Cena FUing Show is not a shock, he's done it often enough before. But here it was unreasonable due to the fact he just spent the previous 15 minutes getting his ass handed to him, but after 3 moves he can carry a 500 pound man on his shoulders, flip him off and slam him down and get the win.
Just not a good looking match.

Well, remember, we're talking about the WWE here. They make things like Cena FU-ing Show seem like they've never happened befrore, or they expect fans to forget about it (like they expected us to forget that Kane used a voice box and was badly burned as a child)

Yeah, I know what you are talking about. But if you think about it, it's been that way in wrestling in general for who knows how long. It won't change that people's characters change, completely destroying the previously established character background. Just like in comics.

True. But at the moment Smackdown is struggling with the loss of a handful of wrestlers. Batista, as much as he's a mediocre wrestler, still attempts to put on a show and does entertain the fans. Mr. Kennedy was a breath of fresh air with a unique finisher I never thought I'd see outside of the independent shows who was stopped too early in his push. JBL is one of their top heels, no matter what people feel about him. Taker showed me some better character development (incorporating aspects of the deadman and zombie in his matches with Angle) but more is needed on the program as a whole. Some of their bankable stars are still too green or just have bad gimmicks. And yet, with these problems, Smackdown is still looking better than RAW.
I love Smackdown, and their side for WrestleMania is actually shaping up to be a very good card. Although the only problem I have with the lineup is the main event, which should be a one on one between Angle and Mysterio. I think, given 25 minutes, they can put on a match that can trump any other in the last year of wrestling.

If you look at it, SD does have a pretty well-balanced show. They have some good main-eventers (Angle, Undertaker, Batista, Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio, Benoit, JBL), they also have a good US title division (Benoit and JBL are also a part of this, which shows a lot of their diversity as well), they have a more competitive tag team division, although that's not really saying much because of the pathetic-ass tag-team division on Raw, and they have a pretty good CW division, despite not being seen on tv much. Add to that some gimmick wrestlers (Boogeyman, Burchill) that are surprisingly entertaining and I say Smackdown has a great mix of wrestlers that can satisfy a wider audience than Raw.
I mean even with the loss of Batista and Guerrero, they still managed to replace them with Rey Mysterio and Kurt Angle.
It feels like on SD, a lot of the wrestlers are allowed to be the best they can be. I really can't feel the same way for anybody on Raw at the moment
I can dare even say that SD might even be better over-all than Impact at the moment....:o
Yo buddy its a thriple threat match. So there must be three people in it right?

I would tend to agree. Impact could be a better show if they balanced it out more properly. But when you have 2 blatant squash matches per show, it gets old fast.
Right now, for me, Smackdown! is the show to watch.

how'd the maria vs lita match turn out?
Mister J
03-07-2006, 06:55 AM
It was pretty much a squash for Lita. She knocked her around, Maria didn't do anything, Lita got the pin. It wasn't very good at all. Lita must still be hurt, 'cause her in-ring used to be much more entertaining.
Afterwards, Edge tried to spear Maria, Foley made the save and got a steel chair for his trouble. Then the Rated R Jackass accepted the hardcore match at Mania.

Yesterday we reported that BJ Whitmer challenged anyone from CZW to face him this Saturday when ROH makes its debut at the former ECW Arena in Philly with a special 4pm show as the first half of a double header in that famous building with CZW. I just had this crazy funny thought. I can imagine Cena going for the "Sneaker Pump" and Triple H grabs him and rips the pumps away. Shocked and with watery eyes Cena kicks Triple H and sets him up for the F-U. . . BAM he nails H with it and the referee counts One. . .Two. . . KICK OUT. . . Cena picks up H again and nails him again. . .One. . .Two. . . KICK OUT. . .Cena picks up H again. . . This time H smiles to the crowd, like he did on RAW last week and being the Super King of Kings Superman Christ Champion Forever Supreme Heel, Triple H counters the F-U and kicks Cena on the stomach, setting him up for the Pedigree. . . BAM. . . H nails it, covers Cena WITHOUT hooking his leg for the pin (Push-up pose) and the referee counts. . .ONE. . . TWO. . . THREEE. . . Triple H regains the title and begins his new reign until his kid is old enough to be awarded the title and becomes the youngest World Champion in WWE history at age 18. ;)

Ford Field holds about 65K, but capacity has reached around 80K for basketball. The basketball approximation is prolly more suitable, since the ring/Titantron setup would be smaller than a football field. They could top out around 70K+. Not near what the Silverdome held, but still a big crowd.

The unique design incorporates the old Hudson’s warehouse (established in the 1920’s) as part of the industry-leading sports and entertainment development that will include banquet facilities, restaurants, office space, retail services, food courts, lounge areas and all private suites.
The $500 million complex boasts a seven-story atrium within the warehouse. At the end of the atrium (the southeast corner of the stadium) is a glass wall, which provides a picturesque view of the Detroit skyline.
Ford Field claims the best sight lines of any football stadium in the United States, made available by a design that omits the traditional club and suite levels, thereby lowering the upper level.
There are a total of 65,000 seats, including 8,500 club seats that feature wide padded seats, private lounges, upscale food service, and preferred parking.
There are plans to host up to 120 events during the first year of operation, including Detroit Lions football games, sporting events, concerts, banquets, tradeshows, business meetings, and conventions. The expected combined attendance of all events in the first year is 1.5 million.
A restaurant-quality dining experience for suites, private clubs, specialty concessions and special events of all sizes will be provided by Levy Restaurants Sports and Entertainment Group.
That just the sitting area. I wonder how much more the field can hold. I really doubt WWE could fill it up.

Maybe, as a novelty match, a Fourway Elimination Match between The Rock, Austin, Hogan and Undertaker. :D

I don't think WWE have anyone at the moment that really is that massive draw that will bring in the crowds
A Rock appearance would really help and Same if Austin were to make one last match
They also really need to make the title matches more important next year, this year there has been no build until the last minute where in previous years with Austin/Rock,HBK/Austin,Angle/Lesnar etc the build started from the previous year
Lashely and Batista are to similar IMO they both need a faster more talented guys with them to have watchable match

I thought they always had some other wrestler or wrestling personality to induct HOF. Like last year when Bob Orton got induct, Randy was the one who inducted him....
And it totally makes sense for Stone Cold to induct Bret. After-all, it was Bret who helped Stone Cold to get big in the first place. And it was Bret who was Stone Cold's opponent at WM13...which took place in Chicago. Plus, from the sounds of interviews Bret has had, it seems like he does respect Stone Cold a lot....

Wrestlemania 22 is the same place Wrestlemania 13 was in 1997. And how appropriately, Stone Cold is inducting Bret Hart in the hall of fame for this year and they had that classic match there. Hart and Austin I believe were always cool with each other, and Austin believe it was Hart that made him in WWE, kind of like Flair did for Sting back in NWA/WCW.

In an interview featured in today's New York Daily News Candice Michelle tells of her wishes to pursue an acting career. "I want to do a very dramatic [acting] role," she continues "I'm very dramatic. I love the sex-kitten role, it comes to me naturally, but I want to show people I'm a true actress."
Essentially, she is hoping her WWE exposure will lead to a Hollywood career. If recent interest in Stacy Keibler is anything to go by, this will not sit well with WWE management.
In the interview Candice also highlighted the fact that since joining the company she hasn't undergone any formal wrestling training.

I just had this crazy thought. What if the winner of MITB2 decides to challenge the winner of Cena VS. Triple H's match and gets the title that same night (a repeat of Edge's idea a few months ago)? That would make the lackluster main event have a surprising ending. This would let Cena turn heel UNDER Triple H while H feuds with the new champion (maybe RVD). The new champion has two major feuds and makes things a bit less stale.
If RVD wins MITB2 and cashes in he could feud with Triple H, Cena and Edge.
I know this is farfetched, but it's an idea.

More than likely, you're referring to the Giant Gonzales. He's fought several tall guys at Mania though. Gonzales was just the tallest.

Damn right, it was getting silly.I don't doubt that there are some geniunely good "Junior" workers out there...but WWE treated them like objects of ridicule, which negated any chance of watchable matches. Overall, these roster cuts might be for the better.
I predict the next one up is Val Venis.

I'm surprised Val has kept his job this long. I liked his character back in the day, but they haven't done anything with him in years. This guy was a former IC and Euro champ, had good crowd reaction and was OK in the ring. For some reason, it all went to hell.

Finlay is kicking ass at the moment. Not too shabby for a guy who's almost 50....
And I saw the promo for the Miz this week on SD. Seems like he has an MTV-type gimmick
Also, Randy Orton is back to his old theme music, which I don't really mind because I kinda got used to it :o Also Paul Burchill as pirate = best. entrance. ever.

I've been very impressed with Finlay. The guy's still got it. He could have a great feud with Benoit, those matches would be pretty intense.

I hope they don't do that either. I'm guessing reaction to his new theme last week was "meh" so I guess they decided to just go back to his old one
Besides, I got so used to that mic-sound that starts out his theme
Miz used to play up his MTV Real World status to nausea on the indy circuit. It played off well and got a lot of heat throughout his matches.
I've only seen him in a handful of matches, but I hope to catch him in a few others soon enough, see how well he performs.
And damn, no more juniors? Now I'm pissed. Oh well, more room for Stevie Richards.
Eric Draven

He seems like he could play the annoying heel well. And since the death of the Peep Show, the Cabana, and the Hilight Reel, they could always use him as part of TRL-type segment.
I'd rather go a while without another "talk show" on the show. It takes up too much time which, even though it's still not, should be used for wrestling.
As mentioned earlier, a Benoit/Finlay feud will be ideal for when Finlay finishes helping out Lashley. Could be a great series of matches. I thought the one they already had was one of the best they had on Smackdown! itself this year. They could really build on that.
There is talk of putting Rob Van Dam over in the Wrestlemania money in the bank match, and then having RVD cash in on his title shot at the 6/11 One Night Stand PPV.

Nora was contacted by Vince as he would like her to raise the wrestling technique of Angel Williams, Beth Pheonix and Shelly Martinez.

Ring Of Honor is very pleased to announce that NWA Champion Christian Cage is heading to ROH for one night only. Christian will see action inside the ROH ring on Friday, May 12th in Long Island at Sports Plus Entertainment. This will be your only chance to see Christian Cage compete inside a ROH ring. ROH will sign him against a top competitor. We'll have more news on this in the upcoming weeks. Tickets for this event are on sale now at ROHwrestling.com, by calling 215-781-2500 and at Ticketmaster outlets.
That's good because the DVD would be out eventually for all to see. The bad news is it's a one time thing, so if you don't live near Long Island... :( :(

Thanks to Jagger from PWInsider:
Hulk Hogan was on the Bubba The Love Sponge Show on Sirius Satellite Radio's Howard 101 channel yesterday. Hogan talked up Vince's recent Muscle And Fitness magazine cover and said he looks like he is in training to go at it with Hogan instead of Shawn Michaels at Wrestlemania, due to his physique. They talked a bit about how if given a few months, Vince can look amazing because he is such a disciplined man when it comes to working out.
Bubba started talking about how, in the past, Hulk would begin his Wrestlemania routine on February 1st and he would see a much more intense Hulk by this time, but this year Hulk was not working towards Mania. Hogan told Bubba that he will be there to introduce Mean Gene at the Hall Of Fame and told Vince regarding Mania, "If anything comes up interesting, match wise or an opponent, give me a shout-out and we'll see if we can hook it up", but Vince has yet to get back to him.

The whole 'sell out' phenomenon always amused me. It's as if some people feel others should not branch out or take advantage of other options that are presented. Unless someone completely flip-flops on a stance they previously took, I don't see the term be applicable.
