In the first X-men movie they both died.

Storm fried Toad with lightning.

Cyclops got Sabertooth.

Actually, Sabertooth is still alive. If you look at the official movie-comic adaptation of X2, Sabertooth appears in a side story starring Wolverine. I personally think they are both still alive--Sabertooth for sure.

well the way i was thinking was, sabretooth obviously was another weapon x guy who has basically the same abilities as wolvie, so he woulda survived the fall, plus i rememerb hearign that he signed for 2 films, toad.....well i never liked him anyway

They could easily bring Sabretooth back, 'cause I doubt Cyclops' blast could kill him.

Sabretooth was horrid in X1. I hope if they do bring him back, they give him a complete overhaul :o

i always thought Cyclops optic blast was a consussion blast, as opposed to like heat or anything fatal, i have to agree sabretooth sucked immensely, admittadly to bring toad back up, it woulda been cool to see Nightcrawler Vs Toad, that woulda been a cool thing to see

I have to say I liked both characters' movie representations, and like others I don't think they died. it never even entered my head that they where dead...

I mean they where both just shocked/ stunned and out-of-action for the rest of the film. I would have liked a reference or appearance from both of them in X2, but maybe Singer just thinks of some villians as disposable (in the nature of using them, then never dealing with them ever again)

Maybe they'll be come back for X3/ Spin-offs, who knows.

Neither of them died.
Toad was kicking and screaming after Storm's lighting blast hit him, obviously he wasn't dead because corpses don't kick and/or scream, and he was still conscious, so he wouldn't have drowned.

Sabretooth was mentioned in the X2 novelization, it was mentioned that there was a nation wide manhunt for a large, feline-like individual involved in the Liberty Island incident that had thus far been widely unsuccessful. Not to mention there's no reason he would be dead anyhow. An optic blast and a high fall isn't going to kill a powerful mutant with a healing factor like Sabretooth/Deathstrike/Wolverine.

Toad was scheduled to be in X2 and have an elaborate fight scene with Nightcrawler but Ray Park was unable to return because of trouble with his agent I believe. His return is being pondered for X3. Sabretooth is being considered to return in a Wolverine spin off.

I don't know for sure, but I reckon they're alive. They were left out of the second film probably because due to the collaboration of the Brotherhood and X Men, there would have been too many characters complicating things if they had been included. They would have been left back at Magneto's lair, probably as this particular mission required stealth and intelligence rather than brawn.

As for Cyclops' blast, Sabretooth wasn't the only one he hit. Magneto survived it, despite having been considerably weakened at that point. A full-strength Sabretooth would have survived that.

Sabertooth could've definatley been better. Toad was good though. I really don't care either way if they are dead or not. And as for Toad vs. Nightcrawler, I could think of a lot of better fights.

Since both actors wanted more money to reprise their roles....both Toad and Sabretooth are dead....saves on costs.

Well, I wouldnt say that they WANTED more money,..it's just their standard lil' ol salaries..

Yeah,.. their roles in the movie were gonna be too small and they decided to just put them to the side for now to save money..

I'd say they're arent dead or alive until we see them again for sure,..or unless someone (from the cast or crew) confirms where the hell they are..

I'd say, if Mystique survived that slash in the gut from Wolvie,..I think there's a possibility that Sabretooth could have walked away from the boat(if he didnt get caught by the police ("interrogation of ONE of the mutant terrorists from the Liberty Island incident..")).

As for Toad,..and getting struck by lightning on the tongue,..

He should be pretty much toasted,...

Same here. It was around the same time they mentioned him being in prison. ie available for interrogation.

But, ,my point is that they never established whether or not Sabretooth or Toad was captured as well. We don't know ("..ONE of the mutant terrorists..).

-TNC Victor Creed was one of the names on the prison files Mystique looked at on Deathstryke's computer. The plot thickens...

lol ok first off, Retarted isnt a word, Sabretooth was played very well and looked kool by my standards, so if I were you, I'd think twice before calling anyone "retarted" and "superhuman beast-thing"? lol what was that? no-one really looks the same as they did in that 80's cartoon, if they did, it wouldnt be such a popular movie now would it?, Look at such characters as Beast, and how stupid and pointless he is, I mean why is he blue? of all colours!, sabre didnt change colours, only a few minor changes to him and no colour defect, and if beast is a feral mutant, why is he blue?, and I can think of ALOT more mutants that were alot worse off than sabretooth! i.e. jubilee, how pointless! she can shoot some little fireworks from her hands, big help thats gonna be lmao!, so there you have it retard!, sabretooth is probably one of the best mutants you'll ever see in a x-men movie, so think twice before judging a good actor playing a cool character!, p.s. sabretooth and toad arnt dead!
