Canada? Shoot. Is that like another country or something. They don't teach us much about other countries here in good ol' West Virginie. In fact, they don't teach us a lot of things. Like Math, Science, Proper grammer, or bathing techniques. The only thing I know about Canada is what I've learned from South Park. So, I blame you, ya damn maple leaf lovers. I don't know what I blame you for what, but I'll find out.

Pretty much. I'm lucky enough to live in a slightly normal West Virginian city, so I'm relatively close to being normal. But people from the neighboring county are not so fortunate. They're obese, toothless, and they have way too many lawn ornaments. I'd choose Canada if given the chance.

Why is it there a fued between Americans and Canadians? Shouldn't we all be pretty good friends? We really have no history that suggests a war between two nations....

Of course, America is all about war whereas Canadians are now. Are americans threatened by that?

As a Canandian, it truly is difficult to like america because all we ever hear is derogitory comments about our country and our people. We're able to take it because we are humor filled people. We take it all in stride. We're not about fighting. We're about drinking beer. We're not about makin' people feel bad. We're about making people laugh.

We're the kindest, gentlest country on the face of the earth and I for one wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

Having said that... I'm not talking about all Americans. Mostly just the mass majority of pricks that live there... and your President who clearly doesn't like us because of our views on war.

Hey, Flamehead. Where in Newfoundland are you living? I'm American born, but I've been here 10 years, picked up the slang, and nobody knows the difference. I'm gonna get dual citizenship.

I'm surprised, and glad, to see another comic book fan from Newfoundland on here. I only know one person who's into comics around here. We're a dying breed, B'y. :D

Oh, and to the retard calling Canadians ass holes. Weren't your country and Australia trying to take credit for shooting down Manfred von Richtofen, aka The Red Baron, in WWI when it was actually a Canadian who shot the bastard down? Up yours.:p

Wow, that's pretty neat. I originally posted this topic to see how many Canadians were in the SHH fan base and I found another Newfie.... well, not a true Newfie but you've probably been screeched in by now... haven't you?

I'm living in Central. I'm guessing that you're in the big ol' capital city. You probably aren't but it seems that everyone is there these days. You're right though, the comic fans in Newfoundland are slim to none. There's no place at all to buy any titles in the town I'm currently in. None. Zip. Nota. Not even a single title on the shelf, let alone back issues.

There needs to be something done about that.

Where abouts are ya?

Nah, haven't been screeched and I haven't kissed a trout. I live directly outside of St. John's, in Torbay. Torbay kind of sucks, nearly everybody has cropped short hair and baymen tend to be arseholes.(Women aren't really good looking either) Luckily, I'll be moving to St. John's in around 2 years.(When I finish High School)
Newfoundland doesn't get new comics anymore by the looks of it. It's been nearly 5 years since I've seen a brand spanking new issue of Spider-Man. Even worse is how the comic shops and 2nd Hand Bookstores in St. John's are emptied of all the good comics. (I squarely blame it on idiots who buy them only because of the movies)

The only place that I really have to buy comics now is in St. John's. Timemasters is awsome but they are lacking in a lot of backissues. The problem is, they don't really buy anything anymore and therefor their stock is taking a beating. I'm trying to find old Ghost Riders and everytime I get a chance to get in to check it out, there's nothing new. Crappy. Crappy. Crappy.

But you can't put fourteen Frances

Into this land of ours

It'd take a lot of work

It'd take a whole lot of work

We're larger than Malaysia

Almost as big as Asia

We're bigger than Australia

And it's a continent!

So big we seldom bother

To go see one another

But we often go to other countries for vacation.

Our moutains are very pointy

Our prairies are not.

The rest is kinda bumpy..

But man do we have a lot!

We got a lot of land..

We got a whole lot of land!

So stand up and be proud

And sing out very loud

We stand out from the crowd

Cause Canada's really big!! "

I wanna move to Canada sooooooooooooo bad.

As a whole, I think your country has to consider WHY it has more enemies than any other... The answer may be because you have more weapons and pose more of a threat than any other. There is also the possibility that your leaders do NOT obtain a majority approval before wading in and coming to blows with other countries. Your leaders show no respect for the opinions of other countries so they lose our respect and engender our fears.

Yes I do have a problem with this. The way I see it, the less guns that are out there, the less people there are being shot. If no-one had guns, no-one would need them for protection.

Did you know that there's a thing called black market in which criminals buy their weapons to mafias i.e. russian? In Spain we have a total prohibition of weapons except for Police and Military or people with very justified reasons (life danger, witnesses) and the shootings still happen. Not only that, we have one of the highest crime rates of Europe...:o

Sorry Titty.... gotta disagree with you on that one.

Brian Mulroney was definetly NOT cool, and will be considered one of the Worst Prime Ministers Canada has ever seen. A true Capitalist ala Ronald Reagan with Big Business interests coming first, and Human Rights always taking a back seat. And the economy really hit a low during his regime, only rebounding during the mid 90's.... very similarly to the recessions of the Reagan/Bush Sr. administrations in your country.

Trudeau gave someone the finger once....

Which country do you think poses more of a threat than the U.S.A? Your country has the most nuclear weapons, the highest funding for it's military, etc. I believe it was also the only country to consider putting military satellites into orbit. Admittedly China and Russia are close behind, but the USA seems to be developing a "shoot first investigate later" policy that I find frightening.

I'll have to look up the correct definition of "Socialist" to see if it fits. Frankly I think we're the epitomy of "Liberal".

Granted we're taxed. However I believe Australia has the highest taxes in the world. I also think Americans pay taxes too and have to pay for hospitalization on top of that.

America stands on guard for us? What exactly are they guarding us against, the Mexicans? They don't protect any of our borders except the one between our country and theirs.

Not everyone has a gun, and not everyone has the right to even own one. I don't know, how many die each year? it's a lot less than you'd think, because that's something else that is overblown. I'm not sure about that law either. It's actually something that I just assumed from watching TV and hearing the news and stuff. You always hear "If you don't get off my property, I'm gonna shoot you"... or somthing. Maybe it's just some states in the South or something.....

Not everyone has a gun in Canada either... but a whole hell of a lot of us do.... the difference between us is that where we have only 180 some odd gun deaths a year... America has 11 THOUSAND. Why is that?

Why is that? That sounds more like a self defense thing, as a rule, I don't think people are allowed to just shoot others. Anyway, robbers and such are suing homeowners because they get hurt when trying to rob someone, it's ridiculous. Well, lets see...your population is smaller, would be the obvious answer.:p We're a different culture, clearly, and many of them are accidental which is a tragedy. However, you also have to consider where most of these gun related deaths occur. One such display of how our culture is different from many others is that like in European countries, they'd rate a movie a higher rating because of violence, whereas we would do it because of sex.

I agree with most everything you say here. I know it's a cultural thing.... I'm just wondering how two countries who conexist so close together and are influenced by each other, are so completly different. So much that there is almost a hate for each other.

I'm not saying that you're country is a worse place to live or that our country is a better place than yours. I'm mearly posing questions into a discussion that I really know nothing about. I know as much about America as you know about Canada. I don't know if I'm able to be unbiased about this or not, but If I were an outsider looking in, I'd pick Canada over the two places to live.... it just feels safer or something.

There's just not a lot of Canadians to keep these threads moving. I'm gonna try to keep them both in general view though. Try not to loose them in the cracks.

I was mainly using this one to keep a database of the Canadians on the hype... and then use yours for general conversations about Canada and stuff. I was considering creating a "Random Canadian Fact" thread once too... but I never. Ah well.

I got a bit of a beef with the States because they are trying to extradite people who are seeking refuge here for growing and using medical marijuana. The U.S. helped lead the War on Drugs and convinced most nations to make criminals out of harmless pot smokers. Canada has the same basic drug views as America, but we are more tolerant, especially when it comes to cannabis.

It actually started with Degrassi Jr. High (well, Degrassi Street first) and then went to High. There's a new one now called Degrassi, The Next Generation. It's all Canadian, filmed here and everything.

The rights were bought by Kevin Smith and he's released DVD's of the previous shows. Also has directed and appeared in a few of the new ones. He loves the show. A whole lot.

They had better Start Maas next week. I hate Ray. But All season Maas doesn't play and then two weeks in a row he comes in a half and helps win the game.

I got season tickets and all year I have been losing my voice screaming "PUT MAAS IN!"

I have a feeling they're going to be starting Ray next week. But once again, Ray will play average and they'll just put Maas in again. The Esks could make a huge mistake trading Maas to Hamilton during the off-season.

I dunno, it just seems like Ray has not been himself this year. I blame it on his year-long layoff in the NFL :down

Roughneck
11-21-2005, 01:22 AM
What? They are trading Maas??

And Ray sucks ass. He went to the NFL and Coulnd't cut it. That kinda shook his confidence. And it pissed me off to no end.

Ray - Bye I'm leaving to go to the NFL
Esks - Wait a couple years to hone your skills here like Moon did, Then you will be worth more to them.
Ray - No. **** you guys I'm NFL bound

Time Passes.

Ray - I failed miserably, can I come back
Esks - Duh, Okay mr superstar, we'll just bench a guy who set ecords last year and played phenomenally so you can come back and suck.
Ray - Thanks.

Eric Draven
11-21-2005, 01:24 AM
That's the rumor. Maas is going to Hamilton for McManus, Tim Bakker, and their first round draft pick.

A lot of people also thought that Maas was one of the conditional picks Hamilton got when Eskimos traded for Troy Davis......

I Prefer it.

3 downs instead of 4
110 yard field instead of 100
The field goal posts are at the front of the end Zone as opposed to the back.
And the balls are bigger.

Ouch. Jonty likes it in the arse but not cause he's Albertan.

When you have the Federal government like we do, Albertans are getting it up the arse all the time.

244 billion in taxes more than ever having gotten it back between 1961 and 1991.

That's how much Albertans have paid in the past thirty years for having the so-called privilige of being Canadians.

Our second privilige is being told to shut up about it when we complain about it and of course get blamed for most of Canada's problems.
