Yes I saw Thor's face, I have the comic sitting next to me right now. The fact remains, however, that bloody or not Thor still got up and was ready to go again. Sure, it looked like a sure thing that he'd eventually lose, but "he eventually would have" is not the same as "he did."

He was about to turn into Blake, and bam, someone else got into the fight. Another one of the Defenders I believe... Hulk thought he had proven his point, and jumped away. I consider that a Hulk victory. I would consider if a Thor victory if he had knocked The Hulk on his ass and was about to KO him or something and someone interfered. Just how I do it I guess... Thor's heroic, fearless, wont quit, and so on and so on. But he just wouldent of had what it took to take down The Hulk. He could of put up a half ass fight for a couple of minutes, and then The Hulk would of ended up ko'ing him, maybe worse...

Mr. X: great panel, there! I like how the Hulk used to refer to himself (normally) in the first person. And if he did use third person, it was only in the same sense that all superhero types did. In many of the Hulk comics I've read over the years, the way he spoke made him seem really stupid, which he is not.

And Im not taking anything away from Thor, but he's always had advantages over most. He's had armour, which Im not sure but doesent he wear it all the time? Those 6 circular armour plates under his shirt or whatever. He has Mjonlir, and a variety of attacks and things he can do with it, belt of strength, the ability to enter Warrior Madness, and so on. The Hulk has always just fought with his fists, and whatever else is at hand, nothing else. I think that's impressive right there. And If The Hulk was afraid of the hammer, I dont think he would of taken several blows from it and kept attacking Thor, time after time. If anything, he's a little cautieous (sp) of it. It can hurt him, I'll admit that. But he's not afraid of it, Iv never, ever seen The Hulk truly afraid. Even when against The Devil Hulk they went right after him, and broke his arm, jumping all over him punching him and such...

And even when Thor had his hammer, he wasnt beating The Hulk, he was going toe to toe with him. If the fight had gone on, The Hulk would of just kept getting stronger, tougher, faster, and so on. Until he would of eventually beaten him. No way Thor can beat The Hulk in a straight up fight, hammer or not. He can definitly beat The Hulk, but he would have to think about the box, beyond just trying to beat him physically. Use Mjonlir to his advantage, with its variety of powers and all...

And The Hulk he fought didnt completly have Banner's influence, meaning he more then likely didnt have those cunning little ploys he usually comes up with, Banners occasional brilliant thoughts entering The Hulks mind that is. Wasnt mindless, but Banner was somewhat submersed under The Hulk's personality...

1) i was saying that taking away thor's hammer to make a fair fight is stupid. it is part of his power, and not a fair decider of who is more powerful/harder whatever you want to call it. saying 'remove his radiation' was an extreme example, but i think you can get the point. hulk is hulk without weapons. thor is thor with a hammer. if you want to say hulk can beat a hammerless thor, fair enough. but he didn't beat thor.

His healing factor is the deciding factor in my opinion. He would just keep on going, when Thor would start to tire and probably be injured in one way or another. I saw them fight to a draw in both fights in the GN, Although the first fight could be considered a Hulk victory, as he wacked Superman into space, and by the time he gets back The Hulk is gone. The Hulk also proves he's just as strong, possibly stronger then Superman, and just as tough, probably tougher. Both right from Superman's mouth. Superman was pretty much relying on his speed, and variety of powers, but The Hulk was still keeping up with him...

That was The Professor, notice he had the thinkings of Banner. The Savage Hulk on the other hand, has survived in space un aided for a long time before. He's even been able to breath in space before, on several occasions. I dont know why The Savage Hulk would be able to, and The Professor not, maybe just something to spice the story up a little? Synopsis: In the woods of the X-mansion, Logan senses something wrong: the
cairn is back (see UXM 96, 143), and a demon came through. Logan follows and
attacks it.
Inside, the X-Men work on the Blackbird, till alarms alert them to the
N'Garai, which flees into the cairn with Logan following. Nightcrawler pops over,
realizes what happened, and follows into the cairn. They fight N'Garai in a
cavern. There's no way back, so they have to fight their way through.
Nightcrawler is worried about Logan, bestial and scary, but he says there's no
such thing as a fair fight.
Kierrok is alerted and angry. He attacks Logan while Nightcrawler tries to
seal the portal. Logan takes Kierrok's best shots and then slashes him. Then he
and Nightcrawler stop the demons from entering the portal to earth.
Xavier sends the X-Men to stop the N'Garai, but Logan and Nightcrawler
already dispatched them. Logan wants to return and finish Kierrok, but
Nightcrawler says that would be giving into his animal nature. Before Logan can
answer, Kierrok removes the cairn himself, willing to bide his time.
The X-Men find Nightcrawler, but Logan has gone off into the woods.

I'd say I'm sorry to bring old topics back up, but then I'd be lying.

1) The Beta Ray Bill fight was RIGGED.

2) Thor and Mjolnir are practically one. He even says so in the comic. That's like asking Cap to go against 10 guys with machine guns without his shield; he's bound to get shot at some point. Mjolnir is Thor's advantage in an otherwise unbalanced fight. I think, given the fact that the Hulk is stronger than Thor and that Thor is a dumbass who still fights like it's the 900s, he put up a pretty decent showing against the Hulk in that fight. The fact that he was still ready to keep going still means he didn't lose, though. :o

Doctor Doom was still going after he lost an arm, a leg, and was being dissected alive. Thor would probably do the same thing. The only person I can think of that is more stubborn then Doom and Thor is probably The Hulk, who, after the World has ended and he's the last human on Earth, is still bitter, angry, and hating Banner more then ever. He even lives through Banner dying, he could of joined everyone's he's ever lost and loves and cared about, but no, he was just to damned stubborn.

I mean, he's eaten alive everyday, and he keeps going. I could come up with a thousand more examples, but I think you get my point. There are some really tough decently powerful people that I know, and even after I beat the hell out of them they would stumble to there feet and request another round of ass kicking. Thor didnt lose in the sense of the word, but he definitly got the worse end of it in that fight. And true, Mjonlir is part of Thor, but The Hulk made him get rid of it and took advantage of it. He also made him drop it in another fight which I feel he won, he was like 5 seconds from turning into Blake and someone else interfered... There are a lot of variables with Thor, what if he had to get rid of his hammer, or he drops it? What if something was broken? The Hulk would have no problem with broken bones, even the Hulk in the Ultimant Universe didnt, even after Thor gave him several, unexpected shots from Mjonlir. I remember an X Men comics where Thor's arm was broken or something... By not to powerful people... a group of them, but still...

Thor's arm was broken in that X-Men comic because Hela placed a curse on him that made his bones brittle. He gets a high-tech splint from Tony Stark and forges the Simonson armor to compensate.

The only other time I've seen Thor get his bones broken is in Thor: Vikings and that's because Harald Jaekelson is completely, literally invulnerable and stronger than just about anyone else ever because of the runic curse that retarded Viking put on him back in the day.

But yeah, the Hulk is quite the badass. With Mjolnir and his full powers and strength, I think Thor and the Hulk are about even. If Thor had a healing factor as well, their fights would probably never end.

How tough is Thor's skin exactly? I mean, I saw numerous cuts and scratches on him, and his noticable face injuries...at the end of his fight with The Hulk. I once read that Asgardians skin is about 3 times thicker, and denser then normal humans skin, and thats why they weigh so much. And I guess everything else in Asgard weighs more as well... I mean, Iv just always wondered how tough Thor really was...

The only deciding factor between The Hulk and Thor, besides the healing factor, is Thor's constant not being able to make up his mind thing. Im a proud, ultra powerful Asgardian! I crave battle and glory, blah blah blah. But I shouldent be enjoying this, and the people! And so on and so on... I mean, The Hulk would just have a lot more advantages in just about any envirement. He doesent worry about people, and is just craftier. He's just so unpredictable, but calculated...and he always has a trick up his sleeve, and definitly isnt below fighting dirty. Did you see Thor hitting The Hulk in the head with Mjonlir though? You've got me admit, thats ****ing hardcore. Getting SMASHED in the head I dont know how many times with a uru hammer and just shaking it off. I know he felt it, but he's just damned tough. Even Thor was amazed at The Hulk's durability, he thought he hurt him bad once, and thought he killed him the second. Did you see him walking out of that explosion? Damn... :eek:

Frost Giants, The Midgard Serpent, The Destroyer, Troll's, and dozens of other assorted baddies... I dont think he's potrayed as being that experienced very often though, you think he would be a little bit more battle savy. The Hulk isnt a slouch either, but Thor just has way more experience. That's the thing, Thor's a pretty noble guy. He believes in the whole warrior code thing; a fight is between the two people involved, not innocent bystanders or anyone else. And I think he would enjoy it if every fight between him and the Hulk weren't under such dire circumstances. This battle has a slew of innocents running around AND they're in the middle of a city. The big fight in Hulk #400-whatever has Thor thinking the Hulk is now a world-class terrorist who'll destroy the world unless he's stopped. Etcetera, etcetera.

I'm kind of dismayed at the consistent lack of sense Thor exhibits in fights, though. Everyone writes Thor as a big, dumb-as-a-block reject who likes to pound things. He only uses any kind of strategy after the initial bout of attempting to beat things over the head fails. You'd think a guy who's been training as a warrior since the dawn of freakin' time would think quicker on his feet. :o I'm exaggerating a bit, but really, Thor is always portrayed with a "hit first, think later" approach to fighting.

Oh yeah, this reminds me of another instance where Thor's stupidity shines through. In The End, Thor and Zeus are hanging out with some cosmic dudes when they're attacked. Thor sits there like a dumbass while Zeus teleports them away. Thor could've done the exact same thing with Mjolnir or even faster with the Odinforce but no, he sits there twiddling his divine thumbs like a rank amateur. I wish someone would give Thor some credit in their writing and show him as the battle-hardened warrior that he is, not a stupid stooge.

Yeah, I read it. I have it. Actually, I think it was the first Thor/Hulk fight I read. I'm still a bit confused about what was going on there, though. I don't know what Thor's relative power level was at that point, given the fact that it was near the end of Warren Ellis' whacked-out run on Thor's comic.

I'm bringing it up because for a while during the Ellis run, Thor was human and fully mortal. He still had Mjolnir but he was as strong and durable as a really buff human. He got his ass kicked by low-level demons and was on the verge of dying from a sickness caused by Yggdrasil's dying until the Enchantress found him and healed him.
