I went on a ghost walk yesterday. It was rubbish. The guide was a failing actor with black paint on his teeth who spat when he talked. Reminded me of Gary Oldman in Friends.

they have those around here all the time. i've never actually done one, but my friends said they were incredibly boring.

There are good ones, by all accounts, but you have to do research like anything else. This was just close at hand and filled an hour of our time. I'm writing a piece on it and have checked my notes on what the guide said - most seems historicaly accurate, albeit slightly mundane. You look far enough back at any old building, and there's normally something worth mentioning.

The headless dog of Deansgate was really funny though. We followed its route and listened for the distant bark. I earned my time in the pub last night.

Is there any other type of plastic explosive that will explode if you drop it or something?

The Spawn
08-19-2009, 11:44 PM
Why are you asking these explosive questions?

And X-Chick, the point is having something to google (or speak of from experience) and paste it here a part of the collective.

k, here

Perhaps the most frequently told ghost story in Georgetown County is that of the Grey Man.
According to numerous documented accounts, he appears on the beach at Pawleys Island prior to hurricanes. Everyone who has seen the Grey Man says that he warns them to leave the island.Residents who are wise enough to heed the Grey Man’s warning always find their homes undamaged after the storm. Encounters with the Grey Man have taken place before every major hurricane that has struck the island for more than a hundred years. The Grey Man is unquestionably a permanent resident of Pawleys Island, but what causes this kind spirit to warn unsuspecting residents of approaching danger? The answer may lie in one of three different accounts that exist about the origin of the Grey Man.

According to one legend, a young woman was walking the windswept, lonely beach not far from her parent’s Pawleys Island home. She was in mourning for her childhood sweetheart who had recently died in a tragic accident on the island. Her love had returned to Georgetown by ship after an absence of several months. He was so eager to see his beloved fiancee that, rather than wasting one more precious moment away from her, he took a shortcut across previously untraveled marshland. With his faithful manservant riding a short distance behind, the eager fellow and his horse came to a sudden stop and began to sink rapidly into a patch of deadly quicksand. His manservant watched in horror, unable to help his young master, as the young man and his horse disappeared into the mire.

When the young woman heard of her finance’s tragic death, she was heartbroken. After the funeral, she took to walking the stretch of beach where she and her beau used to stroll in happier times. This particular day was windier than most, but it suited her recent mood. She was alone with her sadness in the whipping wind, with the ocean crashing by her side. Suddenly, a figure appeared ahead. As she walked closer, the young woman could have sworn it was her finance. With no fear, she walked toward him. “Leave the island at once,” he said. “You are in danger. Leave the island!” Then he disappeared.

The young lady hurried home to tell her father and mother about the strange, unsettling experience. Upon hearing their daughter’s strange story, her parents immediately began making plans to leave Pawleys Island for their inland home. They did not know what danger they were fleeing, but they did know that their daughter was a sensible person and not prone to flights of fancy. The family left Pawleys Island before dawn the following morning. That night, as they lay sleeping in the safety of their inland home, a fierce hurricane ravaged Pawleys Island. The hurricane destroyed most of the homes on Pawleys Island, but the home of the young woman’s family was undamaged.

Why are you asking these explosive questions?

The same reason I've asked every question I've ever asked in this thread since its inception: knowledge.

So:

Is there any other type of plastic explosive that will explode if you drop it or throw it?

The Spawn
09-01-2009, 11:01 PM
I have to say no.

Assassin32
09-02-2009, 07:18 PM
That sucks. I thought there were some that were unstable.

The Spawn
09-02-2009, 10:53 PM
I don't think to the point where you can drop it and be sure of an explosion.

X-Chick
09-02-2009, 11:18 PM
Plastic explosives exist for the purpose of being able to cut and mold them. As such, they're very stable and aren't affected by most physical shocks. They can only detonate with both heat and a shockwave, never by being dropped, smashed with a hammer, or even a gunshot.

The Spawn
09-03-2009, 11:14 PM

BAH HUMBBUG!
05-03-2010, 01:25 AM
Which one? I think there have been two so far yes? I have them on my DVR. But I've seen them in spurts. There is a discussion in the tv forum about it.

As far as Alien life goes, I truly believe it exists. How or in what shape or part of their evolution I have no clue. It could just be a bunch of animals on a planet similar to the dinosaur that are still very primitive or they could exist as we have imagined/seen them.

As for if they are hostile or not...I believe it really could go either way. There is no way to really assume just because they are incredibly advanced that they would be peaceful.

I can remembering hearing/reading about one theory a while back. Apparently the grays, as they are commonly referred to, have a deal with certain governments but they are a malicious species and really causing more harm than good. And apparently prior to this some governments were working with another race that was peaceful and helpful but once the grays got involved they declined to help us any further until we cut off relations with the grays.

Sound familiar at all to anyone?

The Spawn

Assassin32
06-10-2010, 02:50 PM
Is there anywhere particularly interesting where I can find essays arguing their belief in or opposition to the belief of vampires, werewolves, etc.?

The Spawn
06-11-2010, 11:05 AM
There is no evidence to suggest vampire and werewolves do exist, have existed or will ever exist....so I think reading anyones argument would be fruitless.

Unless you just want to read.

Moreso, the comments.

Assassin32

Getting back to the pregnancy question, how is an infection not physical?

The Spawn
06-25-2010, 06:34 PM
I thought you meant something like....destruction of the fallopian tubes or something....and not like....the black plague is randomly generated from the birth.

X-Chick

Infections, like sepsis, can cause infertility. Postpartum
hemorrhaging can also lead to infertility if the uterus has to be removed.

Also, hi.
