Looking at the actors pics along side the comic drawings just shows how casting could not have been any more perfect.

I’m so happy and yet a little jealous about Batman. WB get one hero right but that seems the limit of their power. Even beyond Superman, look at characters like Flash, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Green Arrow etc. All would make grea movies and all owned by WB. Why aren’t they making films for these guys as well? It pisses me off
Adenjo
03-13-2004, 08:28 AM
The thing that amazes me is that Wb hold onto characters such as WW, GL,Flash and of course Superman, hold them down, let them gather dust while other characters from other companies Spidey, Hulk, Xmen, DD, Blade,F4 (did I miss any?) hit the (or head to the) big screen.
You could be forgiven for thinking that WB want to hold onto thse characters until Wb can find THE story, THE movie, THE project for them to come to life.. This argument is of course torn to shreads when we think back to the pilot episode of the JLA series...
Flash, GL (guy Gardner), Martian Manhunter, Ice, the Atom .. Thrown into the one of the most awful pieces of superhero screen time ever witnessed.......

By way of an apology....
A recipe... Using spam :D
Title: Coconut Beer Batter Spam with Raspberry Horse
Categories: Meats, Condiments
Yield: 4 Servings
2 3/4 c Flour
2 tb Oil
2 Eggs
3/4 c Cold water
2 c Beer, flat
3/4 ts Salt
Dash pepper
1 1/2 ts Garlic powder
12 oz (1 can) Spam or Spam Lite
2 c Shredded coconut
RASPBERRY SAUCE:
1 c Raspberry sauce or jelly
3 tb Horseradish sauce
Open beer and leave at room temperature over night.
Chill beer and then add water, oil and eggs. Mix just
enough to break the egg yokes. In separate bowl, mix
flour, salt, pepper and garlic powder. Add to liquid
ingredients, while stirring slowly. Add coconut and
stir slowly.
Prepare deep fryer as directed by manufacturer. When
oil is ready, dip one inch wide strips of Spam in beer
batter and deep fry until they float to the surface.
To make raspberry sauce, combine raspberry syrup or
jelly with horseradish sauce in small bowl.
Dip in raspberry sauce and enjoy.
The internet is such a wonderful thing :D

when i first came here i said i thought the suit needed updating for a film of today.now i don't mean a radical change,i have said maybe just a change of material will do it.But if they do it then you still have to look at it and say "that is superman".I know how you and many others feel and i respect that,i would have no objections if they did keep the classic but my first preference is to update it(the way i said)As for waiting until it is too late.Well, they know how a lot of fans will feel about change,so if they do change it,i think they will leave it until it is too late to do anything about it befour they show it.
as for welling.well he is not my choice. But there is a part of me the wonders if he could pull it off.unfortunatly the only way of knowing is to give him it.But then that is THE gamble.

But if they cast someone like Welling AND changed the suit, it would a whole f**king lot more than just some director's name to get me to get see the movie...like a court order.

I admire your devotion to that ancient religion hasn't helped you conjure up the plans...sorry, wrong forum.
Seriously, I think I'd go to a Superman movie almost no matter what. I don't think I could stay away. I mean, I went to see LXG and knew it wouldn't live up to it's promise (the premise) based on what I'd seen and read. Repeat business is the key, though, and Brendan Fraser in a non-classic suit directed by McG probably wouldn't earn much of that. Certainly not from me.

i am very suprised.ok let us narrow it down.
if they had..
the classic suit
kevin spacey as lex and other realy good actors in other roles.
But tom welling as superman and directed by mcg.Would you go see it?
like i said i know i would go see it who ever they cast,i just know i would not be able to pass up the chance of seeing superman on the big screen. But like rdh007 said repeat business is a different matter.

I'm sure everyone's excited for Jim Lee to be drawing Superman, but images like this just put Lee to shame in my eyes.

On the batman logo i think it has a really raw feel which suits what we know about the proposed direction the film is going in.
I just hope as much attention is paid to detail when Supes gets of the ground.

Anybody on a 'superman' workout schedual... because I think I've taken my fanboydom to a whole new level
I'm doing it for halloween... my goal, 190 pounds, I was 158 in september and I'm at about 170 now... 20 more to go. All so I can put on a spandex suit and not feel like a complete fool.... it's also the first time I've worked out for a goal of having that 'sexy body'.... and it's working suprisingly... just takes a lot of commitment. For a classically skinny tall and skinny dude,,, I'm impressed with myself (not trying to be cocky here)

I've put on weight, but I'm on a super-eating and drinking schedule. Seriously, good luck! It's a lot smarter to get in shape and try to stay that way in your mid-20's than to wait until your late-20s, believe me.

dude, that's skinnier that I was aswell.. I was only 6', 145pounds on average...
I've put a lot on... and yes, I hate people like me too. But when you actually sit down and start doing it with a goal in mind, everything changes. Especially once you've done it for a couple of months.... then you start feeling like you've torture yourself for nothing if you stop. And that's what it is... torture, pure torture. But I'm starting to get results.
As for supplements, I know everything about them... I usually eat four meals a day regardless, because I have an unhumanly high metabolism... so I've been on 'supplements' since I was a child.
But I must say, as a reefer head, a university drunk, and just a plain lazy dude (hence why I post so often), that getting yourself in 'shape' is not that hard... and I'm glad that I started...
I just thought it was worth mentioning... seeing that the whole goal is to fill out a bloody spandex suit for halloween (I think that molded muscle chest crap is gay... )
On a side note, I'm considering joining the army when I'm done at this **** hole school... and I'm terrified of how their gonna beat the **** out of me... so might as well be prepared if I don't find a job in the real world

An excerpt from a review of THE PASSION over at AICN:Neill Cumpston:
I’ll make the Jesus review quick – it ****ing rules. It made me yell, “Jesus Christ on a cross!” even the scenes that didn’t have Jesus Christ on a cross. This one’s directed by Mel Gibson and he obviously learned some **** from LETHAL WEAPON 2 because he gets right to the action. There’s a shot of the moon and then right away there’s gladiator dudes beating the crap out of a bunch of hippies. Jesus is this guy with a super-powered left hand – it’s like he can give people Wolverine powers by touching them with his left hand. He makes a guy’s ear grow back but before you know it the gladiator dudes arrest him and beat the be-jeezus out of Jesus for two straight hours. Then they nail him to a cross, and he dies, but not after bleeding enough blood to fill up everyone in CADDYSHACK plus that fat vampire dude in the first BLADE movie. Everyone’s pissed at Jesus. They all want him dead. But this is back in Bible times, when they didn’t have shotguns and chainsaws, and back then when you want to kill a superhero you have to rain two hours of whomp-ass on him and then nail him to something, sort of like a message to other superheroes. And they must have gotten the message, because there weren’t any more superheroes until Superman.

I believe Cumpston's review of Return of the King was one of the few things I've read online that made me laugh out loud.
An excerpt: "It’s also, thank f***ing God, LOUD. Even if you bring an iPod so you can listen to VH during the Elf parts you’ll take it off because I swear to f***ing Roth you do NOT know where the next big bang is going to come from, or when something big is going to crunch someone’s skull while you picture that person getting their skull crushed is really your neighbor upstairs that plays Dido all day or that dude at the Starbucks who’s always reading and looking all smart."

i have just seen "i capture the castle"obviousely to judge cavill. Now it is not my sort of film but it was ok.As for cavill,he did not have that many scenes but what he did do made me believe even more he could handle superman. The scene where the gifts where given, showed a glimpse(to me any way)that he could pull of clark kent's awkwardness(if that is how to put it).His voice is deep, and to think he was only 18 when he made it.every time i see something new with cavill, it convinces me that bit more he could be superman. The next stage i suppose will be hellraiser when he has an american accent and is a couple of years older.Unless of course a miricle has happend by then and they have cast a superman, and if it is not cavill all this is irelevent.

My sentiments exactly. I've said it before: that gift giving scene alone proved his mettle to me. (and it proves this guy is twice the actor that Welling is) He's not as proven as Fraser, but based on what I've seen, he's just as good an actor. Here's something to think about; when Hellraiser does come out, would he or Fraser (the only two actors left in the hunt) handle an accent better? Doesn't impact on Superman, or really their acting, but I don't think I've ever heard an accent from Fraser.

I'm sure someone could do it. Not this someone, but someone. I think the point could be gotten across in about 5-10 minutes or less. Cavill's character and the girl make out late in the scene, so you could always cut that cootie-giving stuff out. ;)

When last I heard from Mal Young they'd narrowed it down to three candidates to play the Doctor - Chris Ecclestone, Bill Nighy and Alan Davies. The favourite at the time was Bill Nighy (who played Billy Mack in Love Actually. He was actually offered the part, but he couldn't do it as he was far too busy. However, he may still be offered the part of the Master.
While I would love to have seen Nighy in this part, Ecclestone will be very, VERY cool as the doctor.

Doesn't Ecclestone break from the tradition of hiring comedic or semi-comedic actors? I haven't seen him in much, nor, must I admit, am I a big Dr. Who fan--just curious why they'd do that.
Iphus
03-21-2004, 11:37 AM
Because he's worked with Russell T Davies (main writer) before - he was in The Second Coming.
Besides, the new series is supposed to be a full-on drama, still funny but serious first. The BBC want to make something that can compete with the US sci-fi stuff (Davies mentions Buffy and Smallville specifically). For the first time, Dr Who is going to have some serious money behind it.
They've got the UKs best writer at the helm and one hell of an actor in the title-role - I can't wait.

It sounds like ol'Auntie finally has some folks working there who'll take some chances. It sounds like Dr. Who is going to re-vitalise the Beeb and re-gain it's place as one of it's flagship programmes.
Chris Ecclestone was really good in The Second Coming. I also liked My Friends in the North, which he was also good in. I think he'll be good as the Dr. He'll be better than Sylvester McCoy, any road!

From all the interviews he spoken in, he's always said what I wanted to hear. JJ also says McG is the only guy he ever wanted to direct. This Superman is McG and JJ's Superman. I think he would be ok with the right script which I'm sure JJ will provide.

Superhero connections on TV tonight:
Superman -- McG: Charlie's Angels (C5)
Superman -- JJ Abrams: Alias (Bravo)
Superman -- McG: The O.C. (C4/E4)

As for McG... watching CA didn't leave me worried. It left me where I was to begin with. We just don't know what McG will do.

i agree,we just do not know what he will do with it.Like i said befour,ca1&2 were meant to be what they were eye candy, popcorn films. He succeeded in that.Like krisboy says, everything mcg has said makes me think he knows what he wants. What is a bonus is that he has/had been working with jj so he/they would have been talking about how they see the scenes.if jj is happy with what mcg says, then i think we have to give him the benifit of the doubt and judge him on seeing the film.

I, personally, am in a real quandary about McG. Generally, I think a weaker director (which is how I view McG) should have a stronger actor (which, of those mentioned seriously, is Fraser). The problem is, I think Fraser is the most fundamentally wrong person for the role of the three most serious candidates. (Cavill, Fraser, and on R_M's word, Welling)

So who in the UK watched Smallville?
Superman's cape was very cool even if it was only for a moment. Plus who is Adam? A clone of the real Adam. I read a lot of people who think he is Batman but he made me think of Metallo. He's not John Corben but what if his body is rejecting the clone and he has to be put in the Metallo suit.
The Singularity

Who the feck is Adam? But more importantly -- why should I care? This is what happens when you don't stay away from spoilers.
The cape thing was quite cool. Didn't really have any relevance though.

I hope they dont turn Adam into another freak of the week when his past is revealed. One of the things that pisses me off about Smallville is how "dawsons creek" it is. Look at this Adam guy - he's spent a few weeks with Lana and is already staying in Smallville cause of her but he aint gettin jack s**t. I'm not saying that in the real world they would be making the beast with two backs already but surely something would have happened. In Scotland most 17yr olds hang round parks and chipshops drinking Cider. While i'm not suggesting they do this in smallville they need to do something. How many 17yr olds do you know that getup for sunsets or talk abou the "smell of rain". They should have CK experamenting with alchohol or getting it on with Lana then seeing Chloe behind her back and feeling guilty. Last night it was another new guy starts at school episode - when do the older kids ever look after the young ones. Clark should have rescued him from getting his head put down a toilet - none of this i'll be your friend pap - and there's no danger a highschool hottie like Lana would just "pop round" to do some homework with him. Lana - rides a horse/goes to school/cheerleads/successsful business - and finds time to drive across town to say 5 sentinces to Lex/Clark then feck off?????
Rant over!

My wife and I were discussing that while watching an episode just the other day. Being a high school teacher, I can guarantee you high schoolers do not talk like that. I teach in Michigan, which is pretty much like Kansas only with more water.

My problem with Reeves' portrayal of Clark Kent was that he made no effort to make it different from Superman. At least Alyn made an effort to change his voice slighty and demeanor.
