This is strictly a commercial place, but they have a large assortment of Batman costumes.

www.hollywood-costumes.com

They used to advertise a soon-to-be-released special edition costume that was just unbelievable for $399, but they've since taken that section down. I don't know what's up with that, but after seeing that costume, I would've happily spent that kind of money on it.

The costume is actually very simple. I made the body suit myself. The top and trunks are attached. Much like the Chris Reeve Superman suit. The belt I got on ebay. But after receiving it I discovered I probably could have made it myself and it would have been just as nice...LOL. But I still like it. Obviously its modeld after the 1966 version. The cape I also made myself. That was pretty easy. But it's the material that I love. It's very light..and a bit shiny but it will not wrinkle like satin or taffeta. Great stuff. The gloves are just a pair of leather Ren-faire gauntlet style gloves. I've had them for years. I wear a pair of black German officer boots with this outfit...and the mask is just an old commenerative one that you can buy on ebay. I just cut the oval bat symbol off and took it in a bit in the back. I then hand sewn a zipper in the back instead of the velcro. Works much better anyway. And there you have it.

I'm currently working on a Romita comic style Spiderman, Captain America and Daredevil costume too. I'll probably post them somewhere on the boards in a few weeks.

I'd love to see what other people have come up with

rayne,
the special edition batsuit that you talked about on hollywood costumes got canned due to DC stepping in with their copyrights.

I think costumes like that look WAY better on the drawing board than they do on actual people.

:o

They look really bad... or maybe my standards are just too high.

ravenreturns1
03-16-2004, 09:48 PM
oh i agree with you symbiote.
just like the $339 rubies batman costume. the pic of the costume looks really good but when you order and see it first hand... thats another story.
as far as this new one goes, i was told that hollywood costumes hired a independent party to create this suit so no rubies crap. but until someone orders it and sees it for what it really is who knows?

The_Symbiote
03-16-2004, 10:21 PM
Well, what I meant is like these HUGE muscular outfits.... on guys that look doofy with it on. Or how they try to pull off the huge muscle latex that only goes to the knees and elbows... it looks downright ridiculous in most cases.

What is this " rubies " you speak of?

ravenreturns1
03-17-2004, 10:16 AM
if you look on hollywood costumes website were the new muscular batman suit is. scroll on down under adults and you will see what they call the official film costumes. the batman, robin, and batgirl costumes. those and the $50 cloth costumes were all made by morris until rubies took it over so now they are the manufacturer.

Yeah I have the Batman and Robin costumes from Forever. The latex rubber ones. If I could show a pic I would. I got lucky when a costume shop sold them to me for 110 dollars. Plus I got a extra cape and cowl from Returns. The Robin is my pride since all there is out there is the new Robin Nightwing one. The Forever's are no longer made. Does anyone know where I can gets some gloves and boots. The ones the have are the boots that cover your shoe and it flaps all around.

SpiderJack

Wildros,

You need to get an online photo storage space first. I recommend using a free site like http://photobucket.com/

What you will need to do is create a free online account. The follow the directions to upload your pics from your computer or camera to your online photo album. Then all you need to do is cut and paste the photo links that are listed below your photo into your message/thread on this board and viola! You'll be posting your pics.

Good luck..and if you need any more help let me know.

SpiderJack

Wildelros,

I don't think you did it right. The link only sends us to your photobucket page. What you need to do is go to the photo that you want to copy to this page. It should be the third one down for Superhero-hype. It has the tag [IMG] at the begining. Copy the whole path and then just past it into your reply section that you're wanting the picture to appear. It's really that simple, and then your photo will actually appear here in the forum.

Hope this helps.

I think that suit is awesome. They now state on their website that the final release will be sleeker, so I'm guessing the legs and arms won't be so thick. That's a good thing. If I have the money, though, I will think about buying it.

I have parted with the 'odd' piece from time to time. Usually in a cool trade where we both felt good about what exchanged hands.
If you have any questions about the possibility of getting some of my work please just email me at dpea@rogers.com and be sure to add your screen name or I will just delet the email because I dont want anyone thinking this stuff is for sale or something regularly to that effect. These are mainly portfollio pieces.

Here are a few more pics of something to come...Batman the Dark Night Returns and this will be a wearable mask with either a foam latex mouth area or silicone....not sure yet...but the mouth and chin will be cast up separately and made to be an application to the skin so that this infact does look like the older batman as was seen in the comic.

Sure thing and will do. I can't wait til it's complete. I wanted it to look like the Batman Returns suit, but it won't cuz of the chest. and also forgot to mention that the belt is is from Batman 89 and Batman Returns.

Well, you can do what I did for my costume. I went to a Halloween costume store and grabbed a cheapy "Tough Biker" bagged costume. It's just a puffy muscle suit with some accessories, but I just throw the muscle suit on and pull my grey bat-shirt on over it. The shirt is tight enough so that the "muscles" show through, and I gotta say it looks pretty good. It's not very professional, but it can hold you over for Halloween until you get something better later.

Got the mask in a trade
Gauntlets on Ebay
Cape on Ebay (odfbat makes them for order)
Shirt is just underarmour
gloves are chemical gloves from walmart (flat black and tight, just like the movie)
Made the belt from an ammo belt and camera pouches

Thanks. I've been doing the black makeup for years though and wanted to do something different (sick of scrubbing black makeup off my face and from inside the cowl). I sprayed the eyes with glow-in-the-dark paint, so it looks cool when I'm standing in the shadows!

My cowl is a 1992 Batman Returns cowl made by Rubies.
I wear a long black velvet cape that I cut on the bottom into the batwing curves.
You don't need to spend a lot of money on a Bat costume. My most expensive item is my cowl. I don't wear an expensive, unconformable all rubber suit to replicate completely the movies. My Batman costume is a mix of the comics and movies, includes a comfortable black cloth shirt and black cloth stretch pants
and black boots. Batman Begins gloves. And I wear this utility belt with the pockets because they are actually functional.
