I think the focus of Man of Steel is on Kryptonians VS Humanity, and whether the world is ready to encounter aliens. The SDCC trailer had alienation as a key theme. That being said, I think the main focus will be split between Crowe, Shannon and Cavill, and I'm banking on Shannon being the standout performance. Hopefully this film's 'Heath Ledger' type. |
Re: All Things Superman: An Open Discussion - - - - - - Part 15
I think it's important for the audience to believe Cavill is Supeman even before he puts on the costume.
Just look at Batman Begins, Iron Man, and the last Spiderman movie. They spent time focusing on the character before they put on the costume/armor. You have to bond with the actor before they even take flight. |

That's why they have clark doing heroic things before he become superman. The oil rig rescue. The tornado rescue, he was saving the kid.Them the only ones we know about so far.It definitly will be many more heroic moments before he become superman. One thing forsure, This movie will not lack action.Action will sure be on krypton, action before he become superman and when he become superman that's big time action between him zod and co.

Re: All Things Superman: An Open Discussion - - - - - - Part 15
The Alaskan version of Clark Kent and his self-discovery will provide the character stuff. But I wonder how much screen time they will provide for Daily Planet Clark. They only spent 11 days in Chicago with the Willis Tower and Board of Trade acting as the Daily Planet. Considering all the stuff that seems to be going on in the film---Krypton, Smallville childhood, Alaska, Lois, Zod, Superman actions scenes---this has to be a 2 and half hour movie.

Re: All Things Superman: An Open Discussion - - - - - - Part 15
I doubt it will be that long.
Superman Returns took a lot of heat for being too long for WB execs. |
Re: All Things Superman: An Open Discussion - - - - - - Part 15
If it's two and a half hours of entertainment than you can get away with it. Superman Returns was two and half hours of boredom.
Now I don't think you can exceed two and half hours. |
Re: All Things Superman: An Open Discussion - - - - - - Part 15
I'd say it's probably going to barley be over two hours.
|
Re: All Things Superman: An Open Discussion - - - - - - Part 15
Then I think his Smallville childhood has to be just some quick flashbacks. That will save on time.

Re: All Things Superman: An Open Discussion - - - - - - Part 15
the Daily Planet scenes will focus mostly on lois in mos. She'll be working at the daily planet before he become superman.
|
Re: All Things Superman: An Open Discussion - - - - - - Part 15
I do have this feeling, that we probably won't see ALOT of Daily Planet, who knows though.
|
Re: All Things Superman: An Open Discussion - - - - - - Part 15
Batman begins was 2 hr 20 min.I don't see how mos can be lower then 2 hr 20 min.

Re: All Things Superman: An Open Discussion - - - - - - Part 15
Superman have another layer to his origins. And that's krypton.

Re: All Things Superman: An Open Discussion - - - - - - Part 15
As I said during a previous post a while back I think Lois will be introduced seperately and then have her storyline merge with Clark's. That's different than in the original movie when she was introduced along with Daily Planet Clark.
As we've seen from the old set photos Lois is also in Alaska at some point. I'm guessing she's on the trail of some unsual phenomenom but doesn't actually cross paths with Clark until they're both in Metropolis. |
Re: All Things Superman: An Open Discussion - - - - - - Part 15
This movie will blow Superman Returns out the water when it come down to action.

Case in point: Avatar 162 minutes - 2.78 billion (WW BO) Titanic 194 min - 2.18 billion The Avengers 143 min - 1.51 billion TDK 152 min - 1.004 billion TDKR 165 min - 1.08 billion Transformers: Dark of the Moon 154 minutes - 1.12 billion (June release btw, and following the garbage that was Transformers 2...) And so on. Green Lantern 114 minutes - 219 million :woot::woot::woot: |
Re: All Things Superman: An Open Discussion - - - - - - Part 15
Guys, has there been any type of news about the trailer and when it might premiere?
I'm starting to get really impatient. |

But we should get some official stills soon I'd wager. Again, looking at the obvious pattern from WB all Nolan's Batman flicks got a few of them about 3-4 weeks before the first trailer. Then again maybe WB wants to deliberately sabotage MOS and you'll get none of that in the near future! :woot: |

This helped make the film less profitable. There's inevitably going to be much tighter control on the run-time of this film. My guess is just over two hours. |
Re: All Things Superman: An Open Discussion - - - - - - Part 15
This movie will be atlease 2hr and 20min long.Like I said, batmen begins was a 2hr and 20min origin story.Superman the movie was a 2hr 23min origin story. It's silly to think it will be anything less then 2hr and 20min.
