Hopefully; Thor, Green Lantern, and The First Avenger: Captain America will be able to give these movies a run for their money.

Re: Rank the superhero origin films.

I can't do this. I don't know whether rating the movies as movies or just how did they tell the origin.

Superman the movie, Iron Man and Batman Begins would be probably at the top, but I don't feel Begins was that good as a whole. But God, did Nolan put effort and detail about the origin. Except that, once again, I couldn't have the bat through the window scene and instead I got a most unexciting scene of a bat fluttering around.

So it'd be STM, Iron Man and BB. The first Iron Man still amazes me, it was so formulaistic and still fresh and exciting.

Re: Rank the superhero origin films.

1) Batman Begins
2) Ironman
3) Spiderman

I am not too fond of the Donner movies so i really dont know how i feel about their SM origin. It was faithful and all, but...

See, the Superman origin lost me somewhere between the tossing the crystal in the ice & him taking his first flight. Did he just stand in that one spot for 12 years? It was confusing right there. That plus Lex discovering kryptonite in his head, which I'm still trying to understand.

He goes into the Fortress, Jor-El teaches him about who he really is, what he has to do, how to do it, flying, using a typewriter at super-speed etc. I don't know how long that is suppised to take, but yeah, maybe a couple of years. We just get to see him take off for the first time in his graduation suit.
Basically, he goes there to find out who he is, we have already just been told that story, so no need to go over it again, it's time to cut to the chase.

As for Lex...Superman has just given details about his home planet exploding, where it was situated, when it happened, all in that DP interview. From this info Lex realises that this strange meteor that crash landed on Earth would have came from this explosion. He also figures, that by the same way Earth transforms Superman, the meteor fragment will also be transformed, ie they only transform in regards to things of Earthly origin, the detrimental effect it's radioactivity would have on a Kryptonian back home, will not be annulled to one on Earth.
It was a radioactive explosion that destroyed Krypton(or there was a radioactive fall out from the explosion), and that quality will remain in the substance, but only to another person from that planet. Superman's powers only protect him from alien poisons, not poisons that are naturally occuring from his own planet and exist in the same environment.
It is scentific theory based on the information Superman gave in the interview.
SM also gives away the fact he cannot see through lead, which is a really daft weakness to give away.
The info on Krypton does not seem dangerous to divulge, but it can be used against him by someone of a genuis intellect of the scientific disposition.

Did you really really think he just stood there for 12 years?

And Luthor didn't discover kryptonite in his head. It was clear that he did some research.

Re: Rank the superhero origin films.

Am I rating them based on how well they told the origin or just origin movies as a whole?

Movies as a whole:
1. Kick-Ass
2. Batman Begins
3. Spiderman
4. Iron Man
5. Punisher(Tom Jane) Sure, it wasn't the most faithful origin, but man is that movie underrated!

It truly looked like he did. And in a movie where tossing a crystal into the snow can build an elaborate fortress and reversing the Earth's rotation can not only alter time but do so selectively, something like that would almost fit.

How? What research? When? Supes didn't say anything about Krypton exploding in his interview with Lois (barring a deleted scene) so Lex had no way of knowing that. And if he did, he had no way of knowing that the fragments had reached Earth. And if he did, he had no way of knowing where they landed. And if he did, he had no way of verifying that it was the same substance. And if he did, he had no way of knowing that the substance was radioactive. And if he did, he had no way of knowing what effect the radiation would have on a Kryptonian. It wasn't like he'd taken samples of kryptonite & tested their effects on Kryptonian DNA. The movie I saw showed Lex just deciding independently that this stuff existed & could kill Superman. You show me where anything different happened.

Can we really consider Blade an origin movie? We saw him being born & next we saw him killing vampires. And when we saw him killing vampires, he was already a legend in the vamp community. Anything that happened in-between was briefly touched on in a conversation between Whistler & Karen.

For me it's:
1. Spider-man
2. Batman Begins
3. Iron Man
4. Ang's Hulk
5. Blade if it counts

2 through 4 could easily be in any order. I think all three movies are damn close in terms of greatness.

Lex calculated where Krypton was ("From the precise location in the galaxy he mentions...") makes an informed deduction, ("Krypton exploded in 1948...." I.E, Krypton hasn't been where it was supposed to be,hence it exploded.) and makes a reasonable assumption. ("It is reasonable to assume these particles of debris drifted to earth.")

Having a measure of intelligence,he figures out it would be deadly to him.("The amount of specific radioactivity,to anyone from Krypton, this substance is lethal.") He did enough research to find a piece matching his calculations in Addis Ababa. ("Voila!)

The scene pretty much gives you all the info you need.
