This will be a 2-cd set contaning, I reckon, both the complete score and the remastered original cd programe. This should be released around July

Re: Batman Forever - The Complete Score.

Meh... the music worked perfectly in the film and there are certain moments that I LOVED.

But listening to it on its own makes it sound all a little too frantic... It's not the film score I would choose to stick on first. Certainly not if im looking for a Batman fix.

Its just a little to LOUD and lacks control.

Re: Batman Forever - The Complete Score.

It might not be the perfect Batman score, per se, but it is, IMH, the finnest music that as ever braced the franchise

Re: Batman Forever - The Complete Score.

Really?

Thats an opinion I have never heard before.

For me Goldenthal was a severe step down from Elfman and Walker...

Re: Batman Forever - The Complete Score.

ya the overall score isn't the worst, but only a few parts are good. I remember the first BF trailer with Elfmans score I was really excited, then I saw the film opening night and even as a kid was severely upset that the music had changed, it no longer had the same feel at all.

Elliot Goldenthal is a supremely talented composer. It's a shame he works so little in Hollywood (which is under a dark age concerning the quality of film scores anyway). His concert works are also fantastic

Re: Batman Forever - The Complete Score.

Yes I think Elfman's theme suited Batman a bit better than Goldenthal's... but the BF music is good as well. I think it helped change the tone of the series, which is what WB wanted anyways.

I think the Forever music sounds too circusy. Kiss From A Rose by Seal and Smash It Up by the Offspring are my two favorite songs.

Bad Days is another underrated gem off that soundtrack :cwink:

This ain't really news. We knew this was coming after the first two were reissued. MV (the guy in charge of La La Land Records) said he was going to re-release every Batman score, b/c of him being a huge batman fan. So it was only going to be a matter of time when he'd release this one. With that said I can't wait for this release. Since I missed out on the original 1995 album release. Goldenthal's score was the best thing that came from BF, imo. Better than that MV/RC stuff we get in the current Batfilms.

Re: Batman Forever - The Complete Score.

Goldenthal wrote a spot on score for the movie he was given. I don't think it's fair to judge him on how well he got the Batman character musically, since the movie itself is not a fair representation of the character. Given a more serious tone, I have little doubt he would still present spot on perfect results. He could actually be wonderful choice for the music in the Nolan Bat-films.

But musically speaking only, I rank Batman Forever as the ultimate comic book score

I can't agree with that, despite feeling like they are underrated and are by and large the best things about the Schumacher movies. For me, nobody beats Walker.

Cool. I may get this. I really liked a lot of the Wayne Manor cues.

I rather listen to Elliot Goldenhaal's score to Batman than what Hans Zimmer has give us. :o

Goldenthal's Batman scores (as well as Elfman's and Walker's) really puts Zimmer's & Howards Batman scores to shame. I always felt Goldenthal's Batman scores were very, very underappreciated (by the fans) b/c of the movies they were attached to. It's the highlights of the Schumacher films, imo. Can't wait when this complete score comes out.

I wouldn't. Now, i've always enjoyed Goldenthal's music, don't get me wrong. But Zimmer & JNH did much better than him. Though i will admit, one of the cues from B&R's score is something i wish could be reused or synced with something for the nolan films...It's poision ivy arrives / the observatory...quite the awesome cue.

Elfman is still the champ for me when it comes to Batman scores, but Goldenthal's work on Forever is still very good on its own merits.

Some of my favorite cues were during the "Batman is no more" scene and the scene where Batman saves both Robin and Chase. Two-Face also had a good brassy leitmotif.

It might not suit a darker vision of Batman, but it fits the garish Las Vegas from Hell vision of Forever.

And yet Goldenthal's BF score is better than both BB and TDK score combined, imo.

I'm definitely getting this and hopefully Lalaland Records releases B&R at the end of the year.

I agree, I like Batman Forever score a lot too, I can perfectly listent to that score by itself but I can not do the same with the Nolan's scores for some reason (and I like his movies!).

i always loved the two-face/riddler theme and the music from the "let me be your partner" scene :D

Re: Batman Forever - The Complete Score.

The BB and TDK music was very boring. Nothing that gets you pumped. The score was no different than the sound of the wind.
