So for the new poster I guess they just copied the previous movie and put Jinx on the other side.

Its sort of weird because some footage makes it look like Storm Shadow joins GI JOE in the movie and Jinx is Storm Shadow's protege.

Also is Jinx going to be Kim Arashikage in this canon?

Re: News & Discussion Thread

I don't get it.. (and I have not kept close tabs on the details of this movie) But Correct me if I am wrong but is not Jinx a Joe? Why is she standing with Cobra?

TheVileOne 05-09-2012 12:56 AM

Re: News & Discussion Thread

Dugath, yes she typically is. But just for example, they made Jinx in GI JOE: Renegades the heir of the Arashikage clan and Storm Shadow's baby sister. She wasn't strictly a Joe in that series more on her own side but she was Snake Eyes' friend, though at one point they were divided since she believed Snake Eyes might've killed her father.

Yeah, that's definitely a better one than that other good vs. evil one they did. This one doesn't remind me of that awful poster from the awful first movie.

Re: News & Discussion Thread

I know that Bruce Willis is a big star and all, but having his face front & center on the poster takes me out of the G.I.Joe setting. And I don't like the fact that my favorite character Storm Shadow is unmasked most of the time, and robbed him out of the shroud of secrecy he had in the comics and cartoons. However, I do admit the latest trailer is nice, and it won't be as bad as the first movie from the look of it.

Anyone else thing Adrienne Palicki looks really out of place on these posters? On that last one, she really looks like she's thinking, "Where the hell am I? Damn, those shots were strong last night..."

Re: News & Discussion Thread

This movie should get at least $100 million dollars in domestic box-office since Bruce Willis and Dwayne Johnson are in the movie.

Re: News & Discussion Thread

Not necessarily. The Rock is not a big box office draw.

With Miller they went with ass shots, with Palicki they seem to be going with boobs.

But his last movies did well at the box-office like Fast & Furious and Journey 2.

Re: News & Discussion Thread

Yeah, but Faster didn't. And that movie, more than the other two, was banking on his star power.

Still a cool movie though, mostly for The Rock.

Which were franchise films, like this one. Meaning it should do just fine in that regard.

I'm fine with costume being black but if it was blue it would stand out more and be more noticeable.

Re: News & Discussion Thread

Rock is not a big draw on his own. Journey 2 and Fast Five were sequels to pre-established franchises. Plus he's not even the main guy in Fast Five.

Here he's the main guy but it is a sequel. The problem is the first one was a huge disappointment.

Yeah! So, true. Would also mean that if he is that underplayed in importance, there may not be any chemistry between Flint and Lady Jaye in the movie.

Also, would have loved to see Scarlett back!

New trailer was quite good, certainly stepped up the scale from the last trailers, once again SE and SS look the highlight, even with The Rock and Bruce there, but this film seems to have totally fallen off the radar.

Hunter Rider 12-13-2012 10:10 AM

Re: News & Discussion Thread

The Ninja battle on the mountain still looks the highlight IMO, the movie felt like it had it's hype in place when it got moved and it really has nothing new to show at this point.

Not too sure, but they are def playing Tatum up more. Those scenes could be early in the flick though.

JESUS what kind of ninja could do ANYTHING with all that gear on?

anyway, he still looks awesome. WAY better than foam suit snake-eyes from the first movie.

It looks like a lot more thought into the design of the suit and how it would probably function in a battle (i.e. -- the sectioned armor and chest piece, the knife, etc.) It also really shows how much of G.I. Joe fan John Chu is, as the design pays homage to the various comics and the cartoon series.

Despite the early reports of the film's supposed bad quality, I think this could probably be a bit of a surprise. It seems like it had more thought put into it than it's predecessor.

What a difference it makes to not have a stupid mouth on the mask...

Re: News & Discussion Thread

I don't think it's that much really, and I can't see how it's any step back from the rubber suit from the first one. It's pretty much the TDK route with armour plating to help him move more freely.

AVEITWITHJAMON 01-05-2013 01:32 PM

Re: News & Discussion Thread

Snake Eyes' costume is much better here than in the first movie, not only is it more faithful, its more practical as well.

TheVileOne 01-05-2013 04:20 PM

Re: News & Discussion Thread

At least they got rid of the stupid lips. Still can't believe the costume designer's BS answer of, "we got to show he's still human blah blah blah." Such nonsense. In most promotional images they blocked out that goofy looking mouth.

The movie, meh dunno. The buzz on it lately has been almost non-existent. The new trailers don't really show us anything new at all, pretty much all the same stuff we saw last year.

Why are they keeping Cobra Commander's dialogue such a secret?

Mace Dolex 01-09-2013 12:14 AM

Re: News & Discussion Thread

The reviews to this movie can't come soon enough, I know the more well known critics will tear it apart but I'm more interested in what us as true Joe fans will think of it.

Who the hell will believe a huge brick built like The Rock can have cat-like Ninja reflexes?

AVEITWITHJAMON 01-09-2013 07:25 AM

Re: News & Discussion Thread

^I would be surprised if it got worse reviews than the first, this one seems a little more grounded and realistic which the critics seem to like in their action/comic book movies, 1st one ended up with 34% on RT, can see this maybe getting over 40% at most.

But you never know, it could get higher.

im keeping my hopes and expectations VERY low...I went into the first one and was UPset after the first 1/3 of the movie

Re: News & Discussion Thread

My hopes aren't that high with the film, I'm just hoping for a decent action flick. I think that's the best case scenario.

I'm liking Snake Eye's new mask and armour. When I first saw it in the first couple of trailers I wasn't too sure on it, but now that we've had a better look at it I quite like the design.
