I'm bit dated, but this was always my idea how Mandarin should be portrayed.

Mandarin was obviously inspired by Ming the Merciless in the old Flash Gordon comic strips back in 30's, rings, techy sci-fi weapons and all...

There's also someone who looks a bit like Dr Doom in that first video.

And Timothy Dalton looks like comicbook Tony Stark himself.
