This show just isn't that good. It doesn't take itself seriously, and why should it? Spiderman working on a team for SHIELD and using gadgets isn't the Spiderman I know. Turning my brain off, I can somewhat enjoy myself, but I'd much rather watch Spectacular Spiderman re-runs or the 90's show.

I'm not a huge fan of this show and I have stated my reasons. That being said I understand you completely. If there is one thing I hate it's people complaining how much they dislike something again and again and again. It's annoying and frankly pathetic. If someone dislikes something that much they should make life easier and stop watching. Easier for themselves and for the people who enjoy the show. USM is not for everyone and I guarantee the reason for that will not change anytime soon. It's style will not be radically different in episode 16 then it is now. The creators have given us the show they wanted.

You won't see me trolling, enjoy the show. See you in the next life.

As a fan of Spider-Man for the past 30 years, I can honestly say I love BOTH cartoons, and both Spec and Ult are a far cry better than the 90's poorly animated snoozefest. I like Ultimate because the humor is more entertaining. More like a teenager's random thoughts. Spectacular focused a tad too much on Peter's angst. While it IS a part of the character's mythos, it also gets a tad tiring especially after Sam Raimi's angst-filled, humorless drivel.

Well, when you write your book, you can have MJ be whatever you want. So funny you should talk about "destroying the flagship". People were saying the same thing in the 80's, 90's, and now. Every generation of fan complains about the "death of the franchise" and how "the XX's were the best years of the comics."

As for Sony, I would honestly LOVE for Disney to snag the rights back for all of the Marvel characters. The Paramount/Disney/Marvel teamups have been stellar compared to the crap spewed out from Fox and Sony.

Why does a CARTOON have to be mature? why does it have to be emotional? The 80's Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends was an EXCELLENT cartoon, and was obviously aimed at kids. There was zero continuity, much like the majority of comics in the golden age. They didn't weave intricate, multi-issue soap operas, they were fluffy bits of light reading for kids. Characters also weren't SPOT ON, either. I remember when Spectacular first aired, and everyone here had their panties in a twist over Eddie Brock being "totally out of character". There were also complaints about the animation. No one wanted a "kiddie show" everyone wanted "Days of Our Spider-Lives". Problem with anyone old enough to sign onto a forum is, they demand companies cater to them, rather than the ACTUAL market for a saturday cartoon: KIDS. 35+yr old basement-dwelling nerds is a small market compared to the 7 to 12yr olds out there, who are the ACTUAL demographics for cartoons.

Good. I'm glad. I was watching "Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends" the other day on Netflix, and it was fun to just turn on a random episode and have fun. Can't do that with Spec. Strict continuity is not a mandatory thing. South Park and Simpsons have been going strong for decades with only the most minimal of continuity. They put entertainment first.

Hulk-Goblin wasn't my favorite... looked more like the Green Ogre than a goblin. Goblins are slight, willowy, gleeful mischief makers, not behemoths.
Loved the "punk with a heart of gold" take on Gwen. Turning her into Carnage was a tad ... off putting... but if I recall correctly, they cured her of that.

I have read all you said very carefully and I have reached a not-so-shocking conclusion: you are either a 10 year old kid (who doesn't know the meaning of quality and is easily entertained) or you have absolutely no idea who spider-man is why he is
considered the most human and most relatable sueprhero ever. In either case, you are the intended demographic of this show and you most certainly deserve each other.

Personally I am done wasting my precious time talking about this how or arguing with people like you because I don’t think you are knowledgeable enough about anything Spider-man.

I think people not liking the show should stop wasting their time debating how much they dislike the show and disagree with people who like it

Good idea! From now on only the people who have something nice to say about the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon should post here . I am sure there will be very exciting, educational and useful discussions on this thread
Then we can generalize the method and extend it to other issues and subjects. Soon people will learn how to like anything they do, see, read or play. This way the world will be such nice place where people will be eternally happy and cheerful and there will be no protest or hatred. Isn’t it great?

Re: Ultimate Spider-Man animated series discussion thread

Ok here is my solution.

There are clearly 3 categories of people that are discussing this show:

Category 1: People who seem to love this show. Well good for you, you are easily pleased enjoy the ride, the jokes, the 4th wall breaking and have a great time.

Category 2: People who hate this show beyond belief, and ca't and will not enjoy, and have either boycotted the show or they are about to. I say its good tot ake a stand and quiting watching this how might lead to its cancellation further down, which is what you probably want.

Category 3: Which in my opinion has the most of the meber discussing or lurking this boards including me. We hate this show yes, we find it obnoxious, unfunny, untrue to what spider-man is. And even though we like the animation, some of the jokes, it still feels juvenille and leaves a bad tatse in our mouths. do we want it cancelled, not really but we want it to get fixed and be a better show. We keep watching it because we hope it will finds its ground, fix its mistakes and give us a god spidey show.

For this last category i say let your voice heard. Tell the creators of the show what you feel is wrong about it so they can fix it for the next season. However, people from this category will soo be part of category 2 if each time they give the show a chance it disappoints them, which may lead to an early demise of ultimate spidey.

Folks from Cat 3, you want to let the showrunners what you think about this show? USe twitter and message them to their twitter accounts below:

Paul Dini @paul_dini

Joe Quesada @joequesada

Brian Michael Bendis @brianmbendis

MArvel @marvel

Again, these twitter ccounts are not given to you guys to insult the show runners. Be civilized and express yourself with respect. I did the same and told them that i dont want this show cancelled but it needs to get better, it needs more drama, WAY less 4th wall breaking and needs to respect the spidey character.

Oh also i hate the spider-cycle

I just watched the 4th episode. That’s it. I will never and ever watch this series. It is disgusting. It is a huge **** you to the spider-man fans. It is hell-bent on destroying all that is great about spider-man. I hate it. I hate its guts. I have never hated anything this much my whole life. I hate Marvel. I hate Joe Quesada. I hate Man of Action. I hate Paul Dini. It is not only the most insulting spider-man cartoon but one of the worst superhero animated series ever. But it has made me appreciate the greatness of The Spectacular Spider-Man even more. Now I have 26 excellent episodes to watch over and over until the day I die.

Hold on, did a blood sample for Venom just come from Spider-Man's ass?

Re: Ultimate Spider-Man animated series discussion thread

I'm about half way into the episode and the scenes with Norman work best because it's a break from the lame jokes. Venom doesn't feel like a treat so far because Parker is laughing at the fact he said ''whizz'' :/

Fight with Venom was decent and I liked the scenes with Norman and Ock; everything else was blah.

Sadly, they're funnier than the jokes that the writers of this show actually write.
