Ultimate Spider-Man animated series discussion thread

Since the Spectacular Spider-Man forum was taken down and the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon thread with it, I thought we still should have a thread about it until it probably gets its own subforum proper.

Disney XD in the US is already playing this spot on TV advertising some of their new shows early next year, including Tron: Uprising and Ultimate Spider-Man. Not much new footage really but Living Laser or Electro punching at Spidey.. Forgot all about the Tron cartoon coming, looks sweet.

VIDEO-CLick to Watch!:

Re: Ultimate Spider-Man animated series discussion thread

The Ultimate Spider-Man thread was moved to the Misc TV series section.
I do wish we had an U S-M sub-forum over here though

Does anyone know why it was taken down?

They are trying to get rid of sub-forums for TV shows in general, considering they don't even take up that much space, and they are already covered in individual threads.

Not to mention that Smallville, Cybertron, Spectacular Spider-Man, and Brave and the Bold all ended, so there's no point in keeping their threads around.

Sweet, Avengers and Spidey will both start airing on April 1st. I should have figured they'd be launching the Marvel block with Ultimate Spider-Man after not hearing about it for so long.

From what little I've seen in commercials Spidey's design looks better here, more Bagley-esque and not having a head the size of a peanut.

I'll watch a bit but I won't have that warm adrenaline rush as I did watching 90's Spider-Man.

I see, but I was refering to why you think you won't have the same adreniline rush you did watching the 90s Spider-Man.

So I just realized this is premiering on April 1st. I really hope they aren't playing an April fools joke on us and it's just a teaser for the show starting in February or something like that. :argh:

I guess I'm just burned out on so many Spider-Man cartoons and having to compare their worthiness to the last ones before it, but I still have VHS tapes with all episodes.

I mean, craigdbfan said he hopes the April 1st date isn't a joke, where instead of the actual show, only a teaser is shown, announcing that the show will be shown in February. The next February is in 2013...

When they've released promos like this:

http://www.blogcdn.com/www.comicsall...matedpromo.jpg

I doubt they're going to lie and release the show almost a year after when they said they will. lol

It's not a joke. Man, I feel bad for anything premiering that day. Every thinks its either going to fail or be a joke and not premiere.

1) I don't really care for Spidey's design in the new show (I don't like that the red torso portion of the suit doesn't connect with the red gloves)

and

2) Your sig is gold.

Wow that's rich coming from someone who jumps on anyone even giving the smallest critique of the new Spider-Man costume for the new movie and you're bothered by that change/omission?

How does that bother you yet you're enamored with the new suit from the movie?

Talk about being a walking contradiction.

I wonder why they removed the strip. Still looks cool though.

I can't wait for some new footage on this.

Re: Ultimate Spider-Man animated series discussion thread

Speaking of the Spider-Man design, except for the elimination of the stripes on the arms (which makes me think of 1930s/40s film serial heroes), it actually looks better than The Spectacular Spider-Man design.

It's not just that. I really don't like Spidey's look in many areas in this new series for more than just that little thing.

The main thing I dislike is the body type he has in this new show. Its very muscular and very much like the body type used in the Raimi films, and I didn't like it then either.

I like the TASM suit because of the reasoning behind how it looks. I myself have said that the design of the TASM suit is not good but its made to look that way as its supposed to look like something a nerdy high schooler made which it, imo, does.

In the case of the USM cartoon, I do like the costume, except for the minor and pointless change of the strips on his arms (and don't use that as bait for an argument against the TASM suit) and his wider body which bugs me.

I really shouldn't have said I don't care for the design so much as the changes. BUT like I said, I like the TASM suit for a much different reason than just liking the design, which I do in many areas.

Me too. I don't really get why he has a motorcycle though. I guess it works when he has no webbing.

I kind of doubt that that's like an official spider-cycle rather than something he just grabbed to use at the spur of the moment but I guess we'll see.

Or It's from SHIELD.

Either way,it's nothing to get upset about amd we should wait to learn the context first anyway.

It's better than the Spider-Buggy, that's for sure.

Indeed! The costume for this show looks like any other version of Spidey's classic costume. It looks great! Talk about nitpicky.

These new titles are mouthfuls, especially Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes Adventures.

I'm not too familiar with the assigned pencillers but after browsing their stuff, it looks like the books should have some high quality art.

Spider-Man is not a team player. He's a lone wolf & that's why the 90's series & TSSM worked so damn well. It's a shame, that a legendary & smart guy like Paul Dini has to work with the hacks like Jeph Loeb. Sigh...
