I think Sunday was probably one of the most exciting days in the NBA in a while. A lot of great games, stories, finishes, and accomplishments (holy crap OKC, 51 (Durant) + 40 (Westbrook) + triple double (Ibaka) [14pts 15reb 11 blks(!!) :wow:]

Re: 2011/2012 NBA Thread : A Season Reborn - Part 2

Yeah Sunday was a thrilling day. The Knicks game was a nailbiter and OKC performed a stellar performance. But I don't think Westbrook and Durant will work long term. They should move Westbrook to the two because Durant should have scored at least 60 last night.

That's a bit premature.

I hope you don't that same problem in other areas of your life. :o

I do think the Knicks are going into the rest of the season gunning for that Atlantic Division.

Doug Collins coaching really good though

Re: 2011/2012 NBA Thread : A Season Reborn - Part 2

Oh, the Knicks have been gunning for that from the first game of the season.

But, I do think now they actually have a chance to do it.

The Sixers need to overcome a possibly fatal flaw, and do it quickly; they need to start winning close games against good teams. It's okay to lose by 10 to San Antonio here, or get blown out by Miami there, but when you're in a 1 or 2 point game against the Clippers or Nuggets or Wolves with a minute left, they need to start winning those games if they want to maintain their current seed.

Re: 2011/2012 NBA Thread : A Season Reborn - Part 2

Sixers need to make a splash move...If Dwight wanted to go to the Sixers, I think they could pull it off with the guys they have...But Dwight has no interest to go there it seems. Maybe a move for Pau Gasol?

I think one of the reasons Dwight has not been traded yet is the fact that this All Star game is in Orlando. I think after that the rumors kick into high gear as Brook Lopez will be back as well

I think a Lopez + Brooks + Morrow +2 1sts will get you Dwight and Turkeyglue

CConn 02-20-2012 11:21 AM

Re: 2011/2012 NBA Thread : A Season Reborn - Part 2

I don't even think they need that to win those close games. They just need their current players to mature a bit, execute better and develop some clutch play into their games.

If the Sixers got a legitimate superstar, they'd be in a whole oter tier entirely.

Re: 2011/2012 NBA Thread : A Season Reborn - Part 2

The Sixers are a player away from contending. They should go for Dwight or even Pau. AI just is not a #1 guy. I think he's play better with Kobe than Pau does because he doesn't really look to shoot but is more like a Pippen.

Lou Williams could really be that guy. He just needs to develop a little farther.

Plus, I guarantee not having Hawes play is hurting the Sixers. He was having 14 and 14 games pretty consistently before he got injured.

Rajon Rondo Suspended Two Games
Quote:

Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo has been suspended for two games for throwing a ball at an official and striking him in the chest during Sunday's loss in Detroit, NBA executive vice president of basketball operations Stu Jackson announced Monday.

Rondo will serve his suspension immediately, missing the team's next two games, against the Mavericks and Thunder.
With no commitments for All-Star Weekend, he obviously wanted an early start on the brief respite. Very cordial of the league to accommodate.

Looks like Knicks may lose to another lousy team, which they've done against Hornets already. Melo doesn't have a good game in his debut since the injury.

Is losing to the Nets considered rising?

Y'know, the Nets who are 10-24? Who have the fourth worst record in the East? Who have had not one, but two 7 game losing streaks?

The Knicks are positively on fire.

I think they're a little better than avg. The way the Nets were shooting they could have best anyone. Melo was super rusty, Shump out, Chandler banged up. I think we're 8 out of our last 10? Relax. Sucks we're under .500 though :(

That is a ridiculous statement.

This team had JR Smith come in after 1 game, Baron's debut, Melo's return after 8 games, Lin inserted into the team, Chandler is hurting with his wrists, Shump was out.

Deron and the Nets shot 15/30 from 3 point range...The Nets were on fire from the range.

Teams get beat by teams who go on a run...The Knicks will need time to get these guys acclamated with each other at least. But the energy at times was down against lesser teams.

Wednesday is the Hawks and Thursday is the Heat...Should be interesting to see how things are after a off day.

Well, Deron Williams did have 8 3-pointers, which no team could've been able to stop. And Melo was rusty and played lousy. At least Lin turned in a good game although his shooting % was down, but he also kept his TO in check.

Eh, we'll be fine. By all star break, we'll be the 7th seed, passing Boston. This was a trap game but I'm confident we'll beat Atlanta in MSG and the Heat in Miami.

I think we'll lose to the Heat but murder them? Give them a chance. We bet the Heat twice last year if I'm correct, once without Melo. Heat are playing on a whole new level though so I just hope the game is close.

I think the Knicks will rise up when they play the Heat. Don't get me wrong, the Heat are playing at a different level right now but the Knicks have the fire power to make it interesting. The key will be how Lin handles it. I can see JR and Melo getting 30 each if Lin can get 10 assists.

Re: 2011/2012 NBA Thread : A Season Reborn - Part 2

I found this blog in ESPN.com about Jeremy Lin, and it is quite insightful and I agree with his assessment aboust this Linsanity hysteria:

The perils of flash stardom in the Internet age

Quote:

It is going to take a formidable effort for him to control the cartoon that is already under construction, no matter how flattering and well-intentioned that cartoon may be. It is going to take a formidable will for him to keep from becoming the symbol other people want to make of him for their own purposes. It is going to take great strength to maintain the reality of who he is in the face of all the noise coming from all the folks who want him to be who they want him to be. I wish him that will and that strength. I wish him as simple a life as he desires. And, because of that, and while I have a "take" on what has been done with Jeremy Lin over the last golden month of his life, I have none on what Jeremy Lin has done. His basketball career is finally off to a terrific start — that's all I know and all I need to know. I don't need a symbol. I don't need any more signifying in my life. None of my damn business, if you want to know the truth of it.

I think people should just leave him alone and let him grow as a basketball player, instead of drumming up his mystique and blow it out of proportion.

That was so wrong but also so funny.

But I'm not a Heat fan although I do think they will win the NBA Championship this season. If not something is wrong and they I think would have to split up the big 3. Cause no excuses if they do not win it this season.

Considering the fact that the Knicks were on life-support before Lin was made a starter to .500 right now, they actually made great stride in just a couple of weeks. And who would've thought that the feel-good story of the year came from New York? Even as a Lakers fan I can't help but root for them right now.

I cannot and will never root for a Knick. No matter how great the story is. I grew up with Jeff Van Gundy being dragged across the floor and PJ Brown flipping people.
