Molina's Doc Ock is still one of my all time favorite comic book movie villains.

Ock: "I want you to find your friend Spider-Man. Tell him to meet me at the West side tower at 3 O'Clock" Peter: "But I don't know where he is" Ock: *Removes his shades with a tentacle* "Find him. Or I'll peel the flesh off her bones" Peter: "If you lay one finger on her...." Ock: "You'll do what???" Spider-Man: "Hand her over" Ock: "Of course" *Starts to hand Aunt May over then suddenly drops her off the building* Ock: "Butterfingers!" Ock: "You're getting on my nerves" Spidey: "I have a knack for that" Ock: "Not any more" *Starts to crush Spidey's head between his tentacle claws* |

I came to know Ock in the 90s cartoon, and I remember hearing he had that strange accent. What country was he from in that series?

I think it was meant to be Germany...
It was weird hearing Alfred Pennyworth do a menacing German voice. |

Yeah, I liked Doc Ock in the cartoon but he wasnt one of my favourites, Spiderman 2 just made me love him though, Molina is so awesome in that role, he is up with The Joker and Magneto as one of the best comic book movie villains for me.

Proof of how many were only familiar with Spider-Man thru that 90's cartoon. Us comic book readers were trying to explain that Ock was born and bred in New York. The accent was strictly made up for the cartoon. |

The husband and I rewatched SM2 recently, and he remarked how, after all these years, he notices the melodramatic tone of it more than he used to. (He happens to LIKE melodrama, so it doesn't impact his (or my) love of the film.)
Molina's Doc Ock remains awesome, of course. The man's a fabulous actor. |

It's a shame as some people seem to be forgetting the greatness of Spider-man 2 a little bit.
But then I suppose alot changes in 8 years. |

Oh! I love Spider-Man 2!!! That movie is so great, I can praise almost every aspect of the film (even the "Raindrops keep falling in my head" scene, its just awesome). It set a tone for superhero films. It has a special place on my heart too.

I haven't forgotten the greatness of Spider-Man 2. It's my second favorite comic book movie. It still has the same magic it did back in 2004 for me. It was Spider-Man 2 that brought me to this forum in the first place. My join date is the day the first trailer was released. I joined to participate in all the excitement of discussing it.

But I don't think the time has anything to do with it. Superman came out in almost 35 years ago and a lot of people still look at it as a great film, and talk about how Reeve was the best in the role, even after doing one bad movie, and one horrible movie. |

Poor Rosie Octavius. That was a NASTY death!

It's funny in that one brief scene with her, Otto and Peter, I instantly connected to them as a couple. I not only believed that they were madly in love but I liked them as well.
Which intentionally made her death so successful. :csad: Raimi gave Sandman an even more prolonged scene in Spider-man 3 with his ill daughter and disgruntled wife... and while I did feel sorry for the daughter, the scene remains so flat. What Raimi achieved in minutes in Spidey 2, he couldn't do in a whole movie with the thrid one. |

Anyway, ASM isnt as good as Spiderman 1, let alone 2. For me its the 3rd best Spiderman movie. |

But to be fair, it does go either way, because some people look at what came first as the best, and anything after is never as good, like those who prefer Burton's Batman films over Nolan's. |

If I dare say I like it more than The Dark Knight or the Avengers, I get these weird looks, too. It irks me. However, of course, I am happy with the reboot and loved TASM. Looking forward to the future of this series. |
