That's how I feel. I love when some jump to the conclusion when you dislike something he's done or point out a flaw you automatically hate him. I could never hate him. His creative spark gave us the universe and the same with Indy. However, his later work just was terrible. And his decisions I never cared for much. But film aside, he seems like a very generous person.

Now I can see why Disney CEO Bob Iger, who was the one made the moves to buy out Pixar, Marvel, and Lucasfilm, wants Star Wars 7 out by 2015 so badly. It's because he's stepping down in 2015, and probably wants to showcase his last huray as his final moment as CEO before handing the title off the year after:

Quote:

The Lucasfilm acquisition could turn out to be Iger’s last big move at Disney. He plans to step down as CEO in 2015, although he’ll remain chairman for another year. Merrill Lynch’s Cohen doesn’t expect Disney to do any large deals between now and then. “I think it’s going to be a period of reaping the benefits of the deals Bob has already done,” she says.

Also I noticed Kathy and them had hired Michael Ardt to do the script around June. So I have a feeling they have a lot to work with by the time JJ is done with STID which would be around mid April I'd figure. It's interesting too how Horn said they want to respect Wars, but told Lucas that all the decisions in the end are theirs alone now. It seemed emotional for him. I can't blame him.

Man to be a fly on the wall at Michael Ardt's work place....room whatever lol.

Does it make up for the failure of firing Dick Cook and replacing him with Rich Ross?

Meh. If the movie came out in 2016 his name and legacy would still be attached to it.

C-3PO is who the entire saga has been about. It's really the chronicle of his rise from the junkheap to godhood.

Close, but we all know R2-D2 is the real hero of Star Wars.

That's because I'm a droid. And I don't like the way C3PO represents my people! :argh:

You're not a droid because droids are actually smart. :o

That's the main reason I don't usually like droid characters. To me, I can't get by the fact that they're not living beings with genuine personalities. Droids just follow their programming, regardless of how 'human' they may come off as.

I like R2, and if I had a robot like R2 I would probably get attached to it much in the same way Anakin, Luke, etc do. But it's still a machine and nothing it does or says comes from real emotion, only what all the 1s and 0s in it's mainframe tell it to do.

R2-D2 > C-3PO

I agree with Joss Whedon's sentiments about bringing back the old characters:

"You know, I wouldn't go back, I'd go forward. I would want to create characters that would resonate the way that they did." Unlike him, I'm not excited to see them. I really regret seeing Harrison and Allen again in Crystal Skull. At best I'd hope they just show up in some holographic archive footage but I'm not holding my breath for that.
