Hopefully this is just a rumor. I'd prefer i if the hired Alan Silvestri again. His score for the first movie was fitting for its style and had some grand moments. Jackman's work has never impressed me, although the Wreck-It Ralph score was okay enough for what it was. Silvestri's best work is grand and sweeping, with great themes, something Jackman's scores lack.

Just because he's Hugh's brother. I smell nepotism! :O

Not too familiar with Jackman's work, but I loved the XMFC score.

Silvestri did a great job, and he'd do a great job if asked back. At the same time, I think a change of composer makes sense.

Personally, this is the best I've heard out of Jackman's work:

The thing is, this film is gonna go for a different tone then the first film, which was a action period piece.
Alan's score for The Avengers wasn't that good anyway.

This ones gonna be a political thriller/ espionage type thing.
I think Jackman would do good.

He needs to keep some of the tunes though, like Cap's main theme. It'd be interesting to hear his take on it.

Here's something interesting

Alan Silvestri scored GI Joe Rise of Cobra
Now Henry Jackman scored the sequel, GI Joe Retaliation

Alan Silvestri scored Captain America The First Avenger
Now rumor is that Henry Jackman will score the sequel, Captain America The Winter Soldier

And there's also this.......

Weird coincidences. I do think that the part about them having very similar sounds is that everyone is now sort of a derivative of one another due to studios looking for similar sounds and all these composers cross-pollinating each other's works.

Neither sound very original. I still prefer Silvestri though.

If we're doing suggestions I'd love to get Harry Gregson-Williams on this. Listen to the Metal Gear 2 theme, particularly around 2:40 onward and tell me this guy isn't right for a technothriller/spy-themed Cap film.

I wouldn't mind. His work on Kick-Ass was amazing.

HGW could also do it. Anything even remotely channeling Metal Gear will automatically be a 1000 times better.

Good news if this is true. I loved the score for First Class and his parts on Kickass.

Silvestri is so much better.

You guys didn't like Silvestri? bummer i thought the score for Captain America was best in Phase 1 and Avengers was pretty good when i listen to them i can be reminded of where in movie that was.I like both scores so much there on my ipod lol..I kinda hope they atleast keep him for the Avengers i don't want them change music tones every movie..i still don't know how I feel about IronMans new score

I found Silvestri's work on Avengers to be superior to CA: TFA (I refer to the "Helicarrier" track,) but, am looking forward to Jackman's work (the "Frankenstein's Monster" from X-M:FC, is quite addictive & and one of my favorites, as a result.)

AFM posts another protest in Cleveland over Marvel outsourcing the score recording to the UK rather than U.S. musicians.

http://www.deadline.com/2013/05/unio...an-3-avengers/

I get both sides of the argument, but Marvel Studios is entitled to record their film scores wherever they please. And they're cheap... they'd rather contract a large buyout orchestra of 90 pieces in London than a 70 piece orchestra with L.A. musicians (which require residuals and re-use fees).

Re: (rumor) Henry Jackman to score Captain America: The Winter Solider?

hey AFM...how about being more competitive? And stopping thinking you should get work simply for being American?

Webfoot Hero 05-24-2013 01:12 PM

Re: (rumor) Henry Jackman to score Captain America: The Winter Solider?

They need to get over it already. They're stupid if they think Marvel isn't also thinking about quality when using foreign musicians to perform their movies' scores. Plus, Marvel is hiring a lot of other union film crew members in the US while filming that it's not necessary to have everyone be American.

Silvestri's best work was in the past for Back To The Future and Predator and yeah even The Delta Force with Chuck Norris.

If Jackman's score can be as good as the one for X-Men First Class then I can't wait for it.

I bet you AFM would still protest even if Marvel was recording their scores in Seattle with U.S. non-union musicians instead of London.

Although directors Anthony and Joe Russo's Captain America: The Winter Soldier won't hit theaters till April 4, 2014, Marvel has today released a small segment of the composer Henry Jackman's score. Listen to it in the background of the films' official site.

:awesome:
