Official Iron Man 3 rate/review thread.

Post your reviews or reviews from critics in this thread :yay:

Quote:

"It blows the second movie out of the water, It has some amazing action sequences that are on par with The Avengers. Robert Downey Jr. brings so much to this role that he is completely irreplaceable. Shane Black was a good choice for this one, as he injected his buddy-cop movie style towards the end, and was able to balance great action scenes with a ton of comedy. I heard a lot of early trepidation about this one going for the bleak, Dark Knight style that seems to be so popular with Superhero movies these days, but that is not the case. This is by far the funniest Marvel movie to date, and handled with the same light touch as the previous films. This is a great addition to the MCU and makes me excited to go along for the ride for Phase 2."

Not to burst anyone's bubble but that review from bestmovie.it is an April Fools review. It says so in the write-up (and translation).

EDIT: The post I was referring to has since been removed. The one currently above is real.

Regardless, I think "cinecomic nolaniani" needs to become an actual term. Or username, lol.

LOL! And I thought for a second while reading the review that I was wrong about the movie.

wait so the review in the first post is fake?

No I don't think so. Thalidomide said he got rid of the fake review so that one wouldn't be there I'm pretty sure.

No, that review is fine. There was another one which was glowing, but later determined to be an April Fool's Joke.

@NickDeSemlyen: Iron Man 3. I'm embargoed but will say I'm back for a second viewing.

@Abby_Chandler: Okay, I think I can probably get away with saying that Iron Man 3 is very, very good. Start getting excited, people.

Was at the screening in London today, can't say much for now because of embargo but Iron Man 3 will be seen several more times by myself if any tickets will be available after the buzz gets out!!!

I think the embargo only applies for the reviews but if we talk as friends, you can say as much as you want :cwink:

I'm gonna hang out here for a bit because the Speculation thread has become Debbie Downerville. Unsurprisingly, none of the Debbies over there has even seen the movie yet.

It may be for you, but I prefer to wait until I have actually seen the film to judge it. I may hate it, I may love it, but I don't know yet.

well I mean, if a certain character isn't portrayed the way a fan wants said character to be, then that can certainly hurt their enjoyment. Just word that the character isn't going to be close to how someone may want the character to be can easily be enough to make someone decide they wont like it.

Personally I still think that even with this twist, there will be more to mandarin than what we think. Even though people saw the movie, Fiege said there will be things that won't be noticed until you see the movie a few times, which means people haven't picked up at those.."clues" yet

there's got to be more to him

Re: Official Iron Man 3 rate/review thread.

I expect Mandarin to be viewed similar to Bane; many will have their complaints. My complaint is lack of powered rings; I had hoped given TA, IM3 would veer into the realm of science-fantasy. However, much as I've found many layers with Bane, I imagine others will find more the Mandarin than they see at first glance.

Here are some more Twitter reactions (I don't think these had been posted):

Quote:

‪@JonathanRomney‬: Liked IRON MAN 3 a lot. Suffice to say it has Le Shane Black Touch.

‪@bbusramutlu‬: Iron Man 3 as expected. Stunning, funny, full of action, hardcore. Robert Downey Jr gives it his best and of course the great Shane Black.

‪@FlorrieVincent‬: Iron Man 3 is AWESOME. Shane Black you ruddy genius.

‪@IncredibleSuit‬: Iron Man 3: Five stars? It deserves 26!

‪@AlexanderJMoss‬: Guess we can talk Iron Man 3. It's BRILLIANT. Easily on a par with Avengers, Shane Black PLEASE write & direct more...PLEASE!

‎‏‪@p_bradshaw‬: Iron Man 3 was quite brilliant - I loved how clueless it managed to make my preview features look too... Damn you Shane Black!

‪@TomButler‬: Iron Man 3 is the goofiest Marvel film yet, and it's all the better for it. A Shane Black film through and through.

‪@OwenNicholls‬: Iron Man 3 is extraordinarily and completely a Shane Black film. And that is a very, very great thing.

‪@emjam56‬: OMG the new iron man 3 is amazing loved our sneak preview in London thank you Mr Shane Black ‪#ironman3‬ ‪#londonbaby‬

‏‪@jamheal‬: Happy to report that Iron Man 3 is no clunker. Shane Black's treatment a bit too knockabout in places, but it's seriously entertaining.

‪@iFlicks‬: Iron Man 3 isn't a superhero movie. It's a Shane Black movie with superheroes in it. Naturally, this makes it very, very awesome.

‪@TypicalFreaks‬: Legally, I should not divulge too much except...saw Iron Man 3 and he is indeed RDJ. It is also highly innovative, hilarious and amazing.

Re: Official Iron Man 3 rate/review thread.

There will be much more Twitter reaction from the UK tonight after the London premiere. Then there will be professional reviews coming out over the weekend because there are press showings in LA with virtually no embargo period. The next week is going to be jumping with IM3 news and reactions.

It's a damn shame about the Spec thread, though. That turned into a cesspit real fast. :csad:

Re: Official Iron Man 3 rate/review thread.

This isn't a review, but it is a conversation in which Ray Subers of Boxofficemojo.com argues that Iron Man 3 should be viewed as a spin-off of The Avengers rather than as the third film in a trilogy. That is a view I agree with, especially in light of the massive interest in IM3 from the GA.

The Sleepy Skunk ‏@sleepyskunk 1h
Franchises that declined at the box-office with their third movie: The Matrix, Spider-man, Pirates Of The Caribbean, Shrek, Transformers.

Ray Subers ‏@raysubers 55m
@sleepyskunk None of those were coming off THE AVENGERS.

The Sleepy Skunk ‏@sleepyskunk 23m
@raysubers The closest would be Dead Man's Chest. Follow-up one year later, and 423M of non-3D, non-IMAX money in the bank.

Ray Subers ‏@raysubers 19m
@sleepyskunk My argument has been that from box office perspective IRON MAN 3 should be viewed as a spin-off a la WOLVERINE or PUSS IN BOOTS

Re: Official Iron Man 3 rate/review thread.

i've been avoiding spoilers and tv spots and clips etc etc and i feel bad for the people who won't be surprised in the cinema.

just got my ticket to the midnight showing in adelaide where i live. big screen, non-3d (hate 3d) and only 5 days and 6 hrs away!

these twitter reactions have me super excited.

^ The TV spots are just showing the same scenes over and over again.

Re: Official Iron Man 3 rate/review thread.

These are from yesterday's screening. I'm just gonna post them now before there are new ones from tonight's premiere--
Quote:

‪@Phelimo‬: Unexpectedly saw Iron Man 3 tonight, soooooo much better than 2, probably liked it more than 1. And who knew Ben Kingsley could be so...

‪@Helenography‬: Seems everyone is tweeting about Iron Man 3 so I guess it's safe: Ben Kingsley, if I wore hats, I'd take mine off. Just for you.

‪@TapiNyoni‬: Just watched iron man 3, very entertaining! Ben Kingsley, take a bow!!‪#ironman3‬

‪@DamianSamuels‬: Worth going to Iron Man 3 just to see Ben Kingsley - really fun film, although wish it had been in 2D ‪#ironman3‬

‪@WebbOfficial‬: Just saw ‪#ironman3‬ itīs a ‪#shaneblack‬ masterpiece. Best blockbuster of the decade. The bar as been raised HIGH!

‪@studioexec1‬: I'm going to stick my neck out. Iron Man 3 is just as good and slightly better in some respects than The Avengers

‪@McKelvie‬: ‪@alexgetchell‬ it's better than 1, leagues better than 2.
‎‏‪@McKelvie‬: (Yes, best Iron Man movie yet.)
