Best 3rd movie in a CBM franchise so far?
I know we have the IM3 vs TDKR thread but that was too limited for me, and there will be people who vote for other 3rd movies in the franchise, so I was curious as to which one people think is the best so far?
The only one I have really disliked was X-Men 3, as it was SO dissapointing and just poor in general, the others were okay, but only a couple have been good, for me, TDKR is the best so far. |
Re: Best 3rd movie in a CBM franchise so far?
Making a great third film in a superhero saga (or a series of any kind for that matter) is really hard. The only truly successful threequel in a superhero series to date is The Dark Knight Rises, and even that didn't quite live up to its predecessor in certain ways. All of the others suffer from various ailments and come away with varying degrees of success or failure.
And I did enjoy Iron Man 3 but had some big issues with it. It's better than the average third entry. |

TDKR, no contest.

Re: Best 3rd movie in a CBM franchise so far?
TDKR.
Iron Man 3 was in with a great chance if it wasn't for The Mandarin. |

The film's idea should've been Mandarin really being Ben Kingsley and he bought Killian's Extremis project and using the "bad ones" as bombs for the Ten Rings without Killian knowing that Mandarin is really doing this, just him being caught up that someone bought his project and is caring for it, something Stark was never into at all, nor was Potts from their conversation earlier in the film. |
Re: Best 3rd movie in a CBM franchise so far?
I voted for Batman Forever. For me, it is far less worse than Iron Man 3 and TDKR.

How I rank the ones I saw this far:

Re: Best 3rd movie in a CBM franchise so far?
The Dark Knight Rises and Iron Man 3 are the only ones I would go as so far to say are actual good movies. Spider-Man 3 has some good bits, but altogether not so good. The rest are range from bad to awful.

Re: Best 3rd movie in a CBM franchise so far?
Tranformers 3 was at least better than TF2 though, and closer to the 1st movie, which I still maintain is a very good movie(TF1). I'm surprised TF3 doesnt have a vote yet to be honest.

Re: Best 3rd movie in a CBM franchise so far?
I don't like any of the Transformers films, or any of Michael Bay films tbh
How come no one considers Iron Man 2 a third in thee franchise? In the MCU it's the third to come out, TIH is the third if you count cannon and make Cap's story the first in chronological order |
Re: Best 3rd movie in a CBM franchise so far?
^Its a different situation IMO, like I dont consider Superman Returns as the 3rd in a trilogy either, I wouldnt say the individual Marvel movies could be considered as part of a trilogy or whatever as while they have some connections, they arent really sequels to each other.

Re: Best 3rd movie in a CBM franchise so far?
I've never seen a good 3rd film yet but of them all I'd probably say IM3. At least it had more fun moments than all the rest.

Re: Best 3rd movie in a CBM franchise so far?
Iron Man 3 had so many stupid moments, due to bad scriptwriting, poorly executed plot threads, ridiculous character actions/reactions.
Seriously, his girlfriend dies in a fire from his perspective and he's hardly phased. I look very forward to the HISHE, Honest Trailers, Everything wrong in _ minutes that this is going to get. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oX9AkO6m7AE |
Re: Best 3rd movie in a CBM franchise so far?
The Honest Trailers and Everything Wrong in (Numbered) Minutes are so dumb.
But, I will say this...why would Tony Stark be totally messed up from Pepper's supposed death when he has a villain to take care of? That's like saying if Batman reached where Rachel died and Joker was in the same area, Batman shouldn't go straight after Joker? |
Re: Best 3rd movie in a CBM franchise so far?
Iron Man 3 by far. TDKR is pretty solid too, though.

IF he was even remotely in character, in the heat of the moment, when he went straight for him, he should have wanted to turn his face into a pile of featureless gore. Here, he just went "huh". I know they're trying to make this series the light-hearted antithesis of the TDK franchise, but an action like that makes this series more "cold and distant" than anything from that trilogy that people made similar claims over. In Spider-Man TAS, Spider-man put all jokes aside to make the Goblin pay for what he supposedly did to Mary Jane, and he's one of the most notorious wise crackers in CB lore. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oD3ILfkuC-Y |
Re: Best 3rd movie in a CBM franchise so far?
For me, Iron Man 3.
|
Re: Best 3rd movie in a CBM franchise so far?
This thread is pretty much going to turn into TDKR vs Iron Man 3 since 80% of the other films in that poll are considered disappointments/failures. Either way TDKR should get extra points as it's part of a trilogy where all 3 parts are considered quite strong. Iron Man 2 was just meh at most.

Re: Best 3rd movie in a CBM franchise so far?
TDK sucked ass, IMO.
