Sigh...alright. Let's see how it goes... Hoping they change their minds but I'll stop complaining. This thread should be renamed now.

Bale could be the Nick Fury which wouldn't erase his "retiring from Batman" arc in TDKR, it would open doors to his next job. Less physical and damaging, more League forming. There could be parallels to Ras in BB. Mastermind Bruce seeking out potential League members while Blake is a temp!Batman for a while, keeping the legend alive. But Bruce would still be the Batman, keeping the "anyone can be Batman" TDKR message while keeping the "only Bruce can be Batman" TDK message at the same time. Because then the time can come where he needs to don the suit, reluctantly.

Sigh. I hate when they do this crap. I know Nolan didn't invent the damn character but it's just that we don't need so many versions so soon so close together. Especially when all you gotta do is use a little thought to make it work.
Batman has always had so many close versions with different actors together. It is nothing new at this point. Most people are used to it.

Also, your idea on how to bring Bale back is exactly why I don't want that Batman back. It's fine if you like the idea of Bruce being the Nick Fury of the team but that is not Batman to me. To me, that would a butchered version of the character. I have zero interest in seeing that.

And if I were Bale I'd compare Tobey Maguire to RDJ and ask myself which has the better career right now.
Tobey Maguire never had as strong of a career as RDJ even when he was playing Spider-Man. This is because 1) Tobey was never as big of an actor to begin with as RDJ has always been and 2) RDJ is to Iron Man what Christopher Reeves was to Superman. Tobey was greatly miscast as Spider-Man, something many people agreed on even prior to the reboot.

Re: Rumor: Bale may be back as Batman in JL - Part 2

I wouldn't mind if the first film in the Batman reboot is an almost straight adaptation of The Long Halloween. Yes, BB and TDK did borrow a lot from that book but at the same time, there are many things in that book that were not used in those films to set it distinct from them. Some of the characters were even portrayed a bit differently.

More so than any other Batman book, TLH has the perfect balance between realistic crime drama-esque villains like Carmine Falcone and supervillains like Joker, Poison Ivy, Scarecrow, Riddler, etc. This would also fit well with MOS' balance of realism and fantasy. TLH also goes into the depth of Batman's origin without actually doing the origin and deals with a younger Batman who has been Batman for about a year and with the rise of the "freaks", who take over Gotham completely by the end of the book with Falcone's death. Falcone is also portrayed more like Vito Corleone from The Godfather in TLH, which would be a new take on him. The story would also be a detective story and would establish Batman as Sherlock Holmes level detective, something all Batman films lacked until now.

The more I think about it, TLH seems to be the best way to start off a new franchise without starting over with Batman's origin from the scratch, him meeting the Joker for the first time, etc. Other than that, I can only think of episodic "Batman vs. villain" stories, which I don't think is a good idea especially since MOS would not be as episodic as that.

Then again, I'm just a guy with no directing or writing degree who has never touched Hollywood. I'm positive there are writers with better ideas and concepts.

Going with one of the best Batman stories ever (vs a brand new unproven story) is a safe bet. Also, a straight adaptation of TLH provides some unique storytelling elements like the 12 months thing.

However, it doesn't really excite me. I'd rather see something brand new.

Not really into the idea of using Long Halloween. I think all of the graphic novels that inspired TDKT should be avoided for reference.

They need to be looking at the comics that haven't been used for inspiration yet along with the animation we've seen on tv & video games over the years. No Falcone's, no Lucius Fox. I really think this needs to be done. It's called a "reboot" for a reason. It's to completely start over and reinvent the character from the last incarnation/s. Like Nolan's was different from the Burton/Shumacher era in every way. This needs to do the same. It's very important.

Not just different villains, side-kicks but Harvey Bullock, Sarah Essen, etc.

The graphic novel AND the video game series of Arkham Asylum is a must.

I think he graphic novel of Arkham Asylum is Grant Morrison's worst Batman story. If they look to Morrison, it should be Gothic, JLA and Batman & Son- Batman, Inc: Leviathan.

Re: Rumor: Bale may be back as Batman in JL - Part 2

Batman Inc should be refrenced in the very end of a trilogy that opens a path to a new trilogy solely based on Batman Inc. With the same Batman from that previous trilogy because you need an experienced Batman that has been doing the Batman thing for a long time, gaining experience, new ways of crime fighting and wanting to get things at a higher level.

If they are going to use anything from Grant Morrison's run i think the Black Glove, RIP and Batman & Son are perfect. First movie Batman and Son, second one Black Glove and third with RIP and the most Badass Batman Ever ! (The Batman of Zur En Arrh). Seriously if i ever get to see the Batman of Zur En Arrh on the big screen i think i'm gonna faint.

Meh. Not a big fan of Batman Inc. It not a bad idea to try out in the comics but I am not a fan of the idea of seeing it on the big screen. My opinion on this has been strengthened ever since Nolan told the entire world with TDKR that anyone can be Batman.

I understand that but like I said, I think TLH is different enough to stand on its own. It doesn't even have to be a direct adaptation. However, I think it would be a great way to introduce all elements of Gotham (both the both and the supervillains ranging from Joker to more sci-fi ones like Poison Ivy) into the film and a great way to introduce the new universe. As for Falcone, I don't think it would be a problem bringing him back as long as he is written differently (more like Vito Corleone). Sure that you can't bring everyone back but I think a character or two wouldn't hurt. TLH is also in line with the balance between realism and fantasy that MOS introduced.

For me, I really wanted to see Bale's Batman go on to do Incorporated. It made the most sense coming from him.

Yes!

If they ever made a (great) film adaptation of RIP, I would pay to see it ten times.

I give up, they're making a huge mistake. ASM was way too soon and pointless and that was 5 years after 3. Why does everyone just love the same story being retold over and over again? Goodbye everyone, my interest in the DCU has dropped. I liked MOS but it was even more similar to theNolan films than I had thought.

I just have absolutely zero interest in reboot after reboot.

At least I have X-men to look forward to.

Re: Rumor: Bale may be back as Batman in JL - Part 2

What would be the point of "continuing" the Nolan series if none of the real creative talent return? There isn't. Therefore, reboot must happen.

How are people not getting that?

The Spider-Man reboot was not too soon. Sure that a few people here and then hated it but for the most part, it was well received and did well financially.

You don't have to tell the same story. Everyone here is in agreement with that. Where are you drawing that conclusion from?

Also, what gives you the impression that we will get reboot after reboot? This is just the second time Batman is being rebooted. It is likely that they will continue this shared universe for as long as they can if it is successful, much like Marvel. You probably won't be a reboot for a while.

And LOL at X-Men. That is the one franchise that needs a reboot more than ever that hasn't gotten it yet. The continuity is so screwed up at this point that it is laughable.

Re: Rumor: Bale may be back as Batman in JL - Part 2

They're not giving us another origin, they're not telling the same story over again where Bats meets Joker for the first time or an older Bruce coming out of retirement. The fact that Goyer says there's metahumans in this universe, means that even the rogues will be different this time around.

The same story will NOT be told again. Im assuming the new Bats will be closer to the Arkham: Origins and Dini/Conroy Batman before Robin came into the picture than Bale's Batman when he was early in his career.

Superman is already a master of deception in this universe. All the different gigs he had going on, not to mention infiltrating a top secret military installation as a camera guy. I mean the guy is pretty much capable of everything. I don't see what Batman could really offer. Obviously he'd have to be on the level of Tony Stark or Reed Richards level genius, which is plausible I guess. Bale's Batman isn't that, but he could be the emotional leader of the team (like that would mean anything). Basically the ship has sailed, and Batman will need to be an overpowered Dues Ex Machina to be of any use to the JL.

I will make a decision on that when I see MOS (which is this upcoming weekend).

Also, Batman has broken into the White House before without being noticed. Heck, Peter Parker has broken into places before as a camera man.

Also, what the hell does it mean to be the emotional leader of the team?
