Days of Future Past SPOILERS! (You have been warned!)

Discuss spoilers, end-credit scenes and whatever else you find regarding DOFP without having to worry about the spoiler tags.

-Just do not post any bootlegged footage. That rule still applies.

Have fun!

Ok, so Wolvie has bone claws now! WTH man! :D

I loved the post credits. It acknowledged Xavier's death in X3, while "reverting" him to the more familiar incarnation.

Intriguing: Sentinels are part of the main, original, continuity. If the time travel mission success, does the original trilogy gets kind of erased?

I absolutely loved Magneto in the end credit scenes! nice to know he has his magnetic powers back. I wonder if that is addressed at all in DOFP or if they don't mention it at all. I guess we could insinuate that the cure is not permanent but I would love to hear a character say that and for the movie to make a direct reference to X-Men: The Last Stand.

Re: Days of Future Past SPOILERS! (You have been warned!)

Since X3 hasn't been erased they will have to explain Charles' deal and how Magneto has his powers back now. Would be the height of presumption to just jump into DOFP without having that stuff covered in the script.

I'd imagine a little exposition just to state the cure wasn't permanent after all would do (or not permanent for all), and maybe a brief flash back for Charles 'resurrection' would handle that (might explain Moira's presence in both First Class & X3 then too).

A minute or 2 screentime ought to be enough to cover the basic crap Ratner left over from X3 that Singer has to contend with.

the end credits scene was nice, but NOT the best directed and written piece, must have been rushed big time

If they make a significant change in 1973 then the original trilogy could be regarded as erased, or you could look at it like the Star Trek reboot and the change creates a new alternate timeline.

And I'm wondering how the Wolverine credits scene factors in with DOFP: For one that's in the 'present' day, and Erik says they are making a weapon, indicating the Sentinels have not been completed yet (but there's that '50 years' poster thing so who knows?)

But we know from the stills that it must be the older slightly grey templed Wolverine from somewhere further in the future (possibly 2023?) who gets his mind swapped out with his younger self.

So what will Erik, Charles and Logan have been doing between the post credits Wolverine scene and the future he gets sent back from?

The war started and they've been fighting. It's looking certain some time has passed between the end credit scene and when we see them next in DOFP. Who knows if we'll ever find out how much time. But going by the reports of the SDCC footage they are already at war and looking worn down a bit.

I'm still surprised at people leaving during the credits. When the scene started, a bunch of people ran back into the theater. At least half the audience went crazy and started to cheer and clap when Magneto and Xavier showed up. I got goosebumps during the whole thing. To add more fan service, I think it would have been cool if there were other X-Men in the background they were hiding among the crowd like Storm, Kitty Pryde, Ice Man, etc.

The more I think about it, the more I start to believe that maybe the Sentinels are a response to the cure from X3 not working. It'd be a good way to tie into X3 and a believable enough reason to have the government sanction this. They freak out, especially with someone like Magneto running around with his powers again, and with Trask on this.

That is what I think has happened. Except Sentinels have been around secretly since the 70's. Remember Stryker had Wide Awake on his computer in X2 so they already knew about them. They just hadn't let them be developed properly by Trask industries.

The cure fails however long after X3 and all those mutants are back on the loose. The government freak out and decide to let Trask industries develop Sentinels in large enough numbers which takes a bit of time and then they release them. Could explain the years wait from inbetween X3 and TW end credit scene.

That end-credits scene in The Wolverine felt like the superhero-movie equivalent of seeing The Beatles get back together... :oldrazz:

I love this theory!!

As we no at the end of x3 magneto only musters strength to nudge a little chess piece. We also know that time has passed since x3 allowing mutants time to regain full ability.

The government need something to allow the programme to go ahead.

It all seems very plausible.

How can we make this theory work for our dead Xmen like cyclops and jean grey?!

Re: Days of Future Past SPOILERS! (You have been warned!)

I don't see the government releasing Sentinels until there is an appropriate, Magneto level threat. Magneto would tear metal sentinels apart would he not? Unless they are impervious to magnetism. So is Magneto back to his terrorist ways after regaining his powers post X-3? That's too much of a stretch for me. My guess is that another villain unleashes the Sentinels from the shadows, and the situation gets out of hand.

Cyclops and Jean probably don't come back unless the trilogy is retconned. Otherwise I can't fathom how a guy like Cyclops would have been in hiding for ten years if he were alive all that time. I think Stryker could play a hand in that, since he will have a role in the 1970's. That's the theory I am going with.

I dont know if you noticed this but in The Wolverine,Jean's last scene where she is full of white in a white place maybe (heaven) she said that she is alone, does that mean that Cyclops isn't dead?

I agree something similar to magnetos previous terrorist styled acts are required but I don't think it necessarily needs to be magneto as even he realised the error of his ways in x3 and what with Charles alive, he now realised that Charles knows best etc

I agree with your views in cyclops especially that's why I question the theory, it's did difficult getting the best of everything so well see how it plays out

Re: Days of Future Past SPOILERS! (You have been warned!)

That was a pretty cool scene. But one thing has me puzzled...if they're going by X3's "telepathic transference" for Charles and that's why he's alive, then he's in a new body. I've heard that it was his twin, which explains why he looks the same (little coincidental, but I'll buy it if I get to see Patrick Stewart as Prof. X), but why is he still in a wheelchair?

Anyone got a theory?

I mean I hope Cyclops isn't dead, but I think the Jean he sees is just his imagination.

Who knows what medical condition that dude had. The twin that is. I've asked the same question. In the promo shots we see Xavier in a Goddamn uniform (pardon the French). So likely he will be standing upright at some point. Maybe it's just so audiences didn't have a complete wtf, and were able to at least recognize the character, since Xavier is so synonymous with the wheelchair. Hell, maybe the twin brother could have been the guy from Origins and X-3? Not to screw up the continuity anymore, but just a thought. The problem I have with the whole twin brother is that the mutant gene is genetically based, and Xavier still has his powers. So the twin brother needs the same mutation. Not a stretch I suppose.

Side note, I don't think they will address Moira and her whereabouts. They can acknowledge the post credit scene in TLS. Or maybe it was Moira's daughter, or someone related to her? Something that could be explained in a FC 3. There is a lot of other important stuff to address, like how the **** Xavier came back, and the cure.

Haven't we seen telepaths retain their telepathic powers when transferring their minds to a new body? I think I recall the Shadow King in a new body, still with his powers...

For the paralysis thing, remember when Prof X, in the comics, transfered his consciousness to a new cloned body, the body was healthy, able to walk, but he was unable to do it due to psychosomatic pain.

Muscle atrophy? Anyone who has been bed-ridden for years doesn't just suddenly get up and start walking around. Maybe this was a particularly bad case and the legs in the new body are useless.

Looks like James Mangold directed that end credits scene for The Wolverine.
