So which companies are doing the CGI/VFX?

I think it's likely that Snyder will commission MPC and Double Negative to do work on this. However, someone said that one of the reasons for Superman's suit design in MOS was because Weta had some input or suggestions for it. And now, it's undergoing some changes for God knows what.

Also, some of the art directors for this have worked with ILM on big films like Transformers, Star Trek, Poseidon, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. I may be reading too much into this, but is ILM going to work on this too? They might be too wrapped up with work on Star Wars: Episode VII if that starts filming next spring as expected, though.

Anyone else have any firm ideas, or even better, links? WB's not wasting any time getting this underway, I'm surprised we haven't heard anything about the visual effects companies being attached already.

Joe Letteri, senior visual effects supervisor at Weta, says that they're in talks to work on Batman vs. Superman.

Letteri's name is also attached to the IMDB page for BvS, but who knows if that's accurate or not.

They were essentially the two main companies working on MOS so one of them are bound to come back.

Warner's will pick effects studios that has a high quality output at the lowest price just like they did before. Preferably studios who's headquarters are over seas that have a great tax break and that also outsource to Asia. Weta doesn't outsource their work to Asia but have a grea tax break.

Disney owns ILM now, Digital Domain has just emerged from bankruptcy.

100 %

Disney bought Lucas Films and all it's associated companies, which included ILM.

And even if ILM is from Disney, ILM only has to work for Disney? or they can work also for other movie companies?
In your opinion which are the best companies for this movies besides the ones mentioned Double negative, MPC and of course WETA :woot:.
What's your opinion of Digital Domain in a possible scenario working for this movie?

Re: So which companies are doing the CGI/VFX?

ILM was a division of LucasFilm and thus, when Disney bought them out...yeah.

It's not going to stop ILM from doing rendering for other studios. It'd be counterproductive if that happened. Disney will save some money from owning ILM, and having them work on their own films, but it's more profitable to keep ILM open for business for all the studios. (Plus ILM will be busy doing Episode VII, Jurassic World and Warcraft during that period -- and I don't think they'll be able to do significant work for BvS.)

And while WB did contract WETA for tax incentives, it also helps that the US/NZ dollar exchange is very favorable too. That's why they're doing so many movies now... a couple of shots here, half the work there, and so forth.

Also, Double Negative has offices in London and Singapore (as well as ILM), so I wouldn't be surprised to see them come back on too.

Framestore worked on Gravity, The Dark Knight, Superman Returns, Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, and the title sequence of Doctor Who.

Prime Focus also worked on The Great Gatsby, Dredd, Sucker Punch, Superman Returns, and Transformers: Dark of The Moon.

Rising Sun Pictures worked on Batman Begins, Superman Returns, The Wolverine, The Great Gatsby, and The Lord Of The Ring: The Return Of The King.
