Lenses. I believe this is the one and only way to do them - it's something like this or nothing. But I think this would be great. Only posting because someone posted a Gotham Knight clip in the previous thread and it reminded me that that movie was one of the best examples of cowl lenses.

Wouldn't a live-action realisation of that be the same as the "bug-eyed" thing we saw at the end of TDK, though?

Re: The Batsuit Thread - Part 9

I don't think so - the TDK cowl had such huge eyeholes and all they seemed to do was make the lenses the same size - Daredevil proves that the lenses can be done, they just have to be semi-transparent and a more interesting shape.

I found an old manip of mine - not perfect, but shows that as long as the lenses are small enough it can look pretty good. But like I said, they should be semi transparent so you can see the real eyes in close-up, unlike these which are opaque.

And a few silly ones.

So another old design of mine - far from perfect and the simplistic design doesn't really sell it, but it's still the basic template of what I'm hoping to see:

Would love to see those eyes in live action

Dude... This is IT right here. Perfect, integrates absolutely everything classic, everything tactical, and in a streamlined way. It also looks like a suit he could get into himself without a team of wardrobe people :P Really no room for improvement as far as I'm concerned! I'm surprised you didn't post it before.

Haha, thanks. Well, I have posted it before, but many years ago. I just wish it was more representative of what it would really look like - a more talented artist than me could render it a lot better.

This approach I like...allowing the eyes to be somewhat visible in closeups, but from a distance the natural reflection of light would make him look creepy.

The eyes sadly remind me of this...

I want a costume designer to figure out that a creature of the night wouldn't wear a big chunk of gold and yellow, especially if it wasn't a symbol of some kind. You're just asking to be shot in the junk. Give the man a black belt already.

That's cool. But, much like DD, it makes me wonder how well the actor and stunt doubles would be able to see in terms of comfortably moving their eyes in any direction they wanted without having to turn their heads when the lenses are that small and that close to their eyes.

It's one of the reasons why I think CGI may be the better route if they don't want Batman to look like he's wearing some sort of goggles. And if they want to show that his eyes could somewhat be seen instead of straight up white, I think something like what was done in the GL posters could work...

That Green Lantern suit is still a fantastic idea of being underneath the skin.

I liked that idea, but I really wished they hadn't done all CGI for the suit. I would have preferred they had it be a combination of CGI and practical.

And lujho-Nice manip of the eyes. In that design, would they be contacts of sorts over his eyes? That would still allow for a wide range of expressions to be shown because we would still see his eyes narrow, widen ect.

Policy, eh?

I don't honestly think GL was the travesty it is often made out to be. It was shoddy, certainly, but no more so than most CBMs.

Yeah. It wasn't great, but it wasn't as bad as say Ghost Rider, or Steel or anything like that.

I hated it, but I will admit that some of the ideas in it weren't actually bad, just poorly executed.
