Is anyone else hoping they don't fight?

Now I'm not saying they need to be best chums and agree on everthing, in fact they don't have to like each other. But why do they HAVE to fight? If we really need to demonstrate Batman's importance, have him save Superman from Kryptonite or something. Avengers did the Superhero vs superhero fight, this could help differentiate this film from the marvel brand. Hell, even Ironman and War Machine fought when the latter showed up. I hope they go the other way and have them begrudgingly agree to work together.

^ I'm hoping it's a skirmish, like Hawkeye vs Black Widow :D

Something long enough to be fun, but short enough to be self-aware of the absurdity of it all.

I'm not against them fighting, as long as it's not done in some dumb way. Unfortunately, there are a million ways it could seem dumb and a million ways it could be awesome.

^ I'm okay with SOME dumbness. It's a human thinking he can take one someone who plows through concrete, after all.

I am hoping they will avoid a physical battle, and instead focus on strong verbal exchanges.

Snyder already confirmed there's going to be a physical altercation didn't he?

All right. A pinch of dumb is fine.

I believe he did. But it could happen in so many different ways.

I'd rather they didn't come to blows.

Re: Is anyone else hoping they don't fight?

I hope they don't honestly.

Batman is my favorite hero, but I've never really cared for the idea that he's in any way capable of standing a chance against somebody as powerful as superman.

I DID however like the fight between them in TDKR,but only because of the history that they had together as friends and the fact that neither one of them really wanted to hurt the other.
It gives the fight more meaning than just pitting two heroes against each other for the hell of it.
There's not enough time in the space of a single movie to build that kind of relationship between them.

Re: Is anyone else hoping they don't fight?

I am hoping that Supes will roll with the punches, giving Batman the illusion that they are actually landing. Then he stands still while Batman gives him a quick jab to knock him off focus (which hurts his own hand a bit).

Fight they must. It's like yin n yang... they fight each other n at the same time they need each other. :D

VIDEO-CLick to Watch!:

I know Batman and Superman we're reluctant friends LONG before Toy Story..but still..I feel like that's the best Superman/Batman movie never made.

Ahem.

That comparison is apt.

I really hope it doesn't happen. I like Bat Zeus more than anyone but on film? No, thanks.

Superman would obliterate Batman. I don't care what convoluted explanation they come up with but I sincerely hope they avoid doing that because no ridiculous reasoning will get me to accept that fight.

It's funny even though I think Woody acts more like Batman in personality, I think that thematically, Buzz reflects Batman.

Buzz is the self-absorbed hero who needs to be taken down a notch, and Woody is the one with internal insecurity who needs to be validated.

Seriously-Chris and Goyer should watch Toy Story for an influence on tone.

Normally, I wouldn't think a cartoon would be a good influence on what I hope is a dramatic movie, but Toy Story was deeper than the average cartoon, while still being fun. It nails the dynamic between two generally good individuals who do some questionable stuff in reaction to the other. And it doesn't favor either one. It's a tale of a difficult friendship and I think it would serve them well to watch it.

I see Superman controlling himself and refusing to fight Batman (it would be a nice contrast to the Zod fight in MOS). I want Batman to keep on punching/fighting Superman only to realize that he can't do ****.

It develops both characters while not letting the plot go to waste.

I think it would take some type of grand threat to help unite the two. Or not :cwink:

I agree, of course.

I must also point out that I giggled with joy when I realized that a boy scout would prefer to have them use teamwork (and I also thought of Supes' nickname at that point).

I would certainly like Batman to threaten Superman at some point and Superman just shake his head in disbelief. Hey, maybe we could get an ending like Rocky III

Indeed. The character development helps move the plot along nicely. Really great film making. I remember my mom even commenting on how superb it was back in the day and I didn't know what she was on about because I was a kid.

I think it would take something big as well. Especially if there is some sort of betrayal involved.

It's a Zack Snyder movie......they will fight.

Re: Is anyone else hoping they don't fight?

I don't mind if they get into a argument that leads into a physical confrontation, but it shouldn't be drawn out.

Also, something like this is very tricky to do, more so I'd argue than staging a fight between Thor and the Hulk.

With Thor and Hulk going at it, at least both heroes are nearly identical when it comes to their strength, endurance, and invulnerability... thus you can have them going either all out against each other or just one of them holding back and still present a great quality fight that doesn't disrespect the other hero.

That's not the same case here. On a physical confrontation alone, Superman should/would be able to wipe the floor with Batman, but in doing so... would hurt "Batman's image" to fans and the general audience.

And on the other hand, Batman could win if he just had Kryptonite and place Superman in some type of scenario/location that would aid him in his victory... but then that would hurt Superman as well and have people dub him as Batman's *****.

There's just no conceivable way that I can think of that you could even have a skirmish between them, even if the fight is left without a victor, without making one of them look bad.

Heck, look how much flake Superman gets just for the destruction of Metropolis despite the fact that it was mainly, if not all, Zod's fault.

A fight doesn't have to be a physical confrontation, which I hope is true in this case. It's too much like these lame fanboy arguments about who would win in a a fight, X-Hero or Y-Hero.

Well, you're right, but what I originally meant was that I was hoping there would be incidents of one of the heroes kissing the other's knuckles.

Re: Is anyone else hoping they don't fight?

Got a feeling the confrontation will be between Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent. I hope they play off the fact that to the public Bruce Wayne has more power than Clark Kent does, but behind the veil Superman bests Batman. I think they'll even it out by letting Bruce have a triumph, and Superman have a triumph by the end of the movie.
