Widow is fully clothed, Mystique is portrayed as naked despite her strategically-placed scales. That character has been unnecessarily and deliberately portrayed in an overly-sexualized manner in every film, ridiculously so. In the comics Mystique always wore clothing like anyone else, but Singer & co. decided to strip her down and make a skin show of her.

There wasn't any pompous pseudo-feminist outcry about Mystique's nearly naked look when the Empire covers debuted the other day. I wonder why there's such a difference between how that character is perceived and the reaction to Natasha. Someone in this thread brought up Katniss, but why not mention JLaw's other role? Because it wouldn't support the nonsensical argument?

Point taken, Xeno. I think my reasoning behind linking the BW and Mystique posters is because neither were overly sexualized poses. Mystique, regardless of pros/cons of her movie appearance, looked like a BAMF to me on the Empire cover. BW looks phenomenal here. But I've probably long since excused Mystique's film look since Singer adopted it before I really started critically thinking about it.

That's probably a poor reflection of me though LOL!

:cap:These new posters for Captain America: The Winter Soldier look fantastic. I sure hope we get ones of Falcon and the Winter Soldier himself.

WTF is all this *****ing about Widow's poster.....?

Jeez, if she's shown from the back, people are complaining about the focus on her ass. Face forward, and apparently it focuses on her chest. What if she turned to the side, would you guys get the pitchforks and torches out for overtly sexualized sideboob?

Somebody posted some comic book covers in the previous thread featuring Black Widow, which were *far* more pornstar than this one will *ever* be. This is one of the tamest representations of Black Widow I have seen on a poster or comic book cover/promo, EVER. Bar none.

Dude is consistent, I'll give him that. I also like how he always calls the movie by its whole name.

You know, if people's big defense of the poster is "well compared to other material, this is not that bad," then that's not much of a defense. All that proves is that those other images are oversexualized and crappy, not that this one is good. The simple fact is that comic books have a "problematic" history when it comes to oversexualizind female character and I'd prefer that the movies avoid doing it to.

Except I think that's a bit reductionist to the people that have been disagreeing with those who take issue with the poster. I think not only is it a big step forward from Widow's prior solo posters for IM2 and The Avengers, but it literally shines the best light on Widow herself; like sunlight is radiating off her face here LOL! Widow's never looked better than she has here.

We acknowledge the problematic history with gender and superhero movies. But I don't see it being an issue with this poster.

Hey! Anyone want to talk about the awesomeness that is the Chris Evans interview? He's gotten sooooooooo much better at them, especially from the last round for CA:TFA. He sounds less... Dudebro-y?

Those bricks set an impossible standard for young women. They sexualize the Economy 12 Type, which is an unhealthy standard, compared to the Standard Modular. The brick shaming has to stop!

This is very, very crude, but I think this helps the poster. I think we can all agree that the current version makes Scar Jo look like a bobblehead with an insanely tiny waste, here's what it looks like if you simply shrink the head and put it on her body.

Just wanted to share this guys...

Boy won't wear hearing aid because "superheroes don't", so Marvel creates one.

Yes, because wanting a less sexualized pose automatically equals brick wall. Who's resorting to ridiculous hyperbole now.

Where does Steve live? an apartment? A condo? a house? the main SHIELD headquarters? The helicarrier?

Same goes for Natasha. do they live in a gated community with other agents? or do they live among civilians (risky?)?

Steve has a (seemingly) civilian neighbor in the movie, so I'm pretty sure he lives in a regular dwelling.

I think a scene at Steve's apartment, or at least its exterior, was shot at Dupont Circle.

Why bother having women in the film? Everything is going to be refracted as sexist by a group that operates on one paradigm. Replace Widow with Dum Dum Dugan--who took a hit of the Infinity formula--and make it a buddy adventure. Problem solved.
