Here's a good look for jimmy i found from a recent comic:

I actually think Aaron Ashmore did a good modern take on Jimmy when he first appeared on Smallville, he was just too old compared w/ Clark and Lois. But jimmy shouldn't be angsty, more of the upbeat character of the film.
