Maybe it is because I'm an old-school X-Men fan, but I always prefer X-Men to be a team rather than just a Wolverine & the X-Men kind of show, and if his absence means a greater development for neglected characters like Cyclops, Jean, etc, then I'm all for it. I think it is also a bad idea to incorporate Wolverine in every X-Men movie, thus suggesting that the franchise cannot survive without his presence. If that's the case, they might as well just make Wolverine sequels instead of X-Men.

Steve Rogers: "You're my friend"
Winter Soldier: "You're my mission"
Steve Rogers: "Then finish it, because I'm with you 'til the end of the line"
