Wait what? Mandarin is and always has been tech based. Alien tech but still tech based. There was never anything magical or mystical about him. I don't know how outlandish it will be if they're going to tell the story of Fin Fang Foom and the other five Makluan dragons' alien ship crash landing on Earth and Mandarin finding the rings that controlled the ship and mastering Makluan science. Or if they're going to just have Mandarin creating the rings.
As far as the rest, yes they're tech based as well. Ghost isn't some dead guy that came back to life, his suit is tech based, Blizzard isn't Bobby Drake's long lost cousin or some short Frost Giant, his suit is also tech based. Same goes for Living Laser or the Melter.
Iron Man's main rogues gallery, with the exception of Fin Fang Foom, aren't mutants, wizards, or ghouls and ghosts. They're all guys in fancy suits built with Justin Hammer's funding or Communist Russia.
If people don't want someone like Blizzard to have some big hulking armor, sure I can agree with that, but as it was said before, they need protection, they need a quick explanation on how the suits can withstand IM's firepower, otherwise it will be a short fight or there will be new complaints similar to the ones when Spider-Man punched Doc Ock repeatedly without him flinching.
