'Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes' Confirmed for Summer Release

After more than a month of speculation, Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes has been confirmed for a multi-console release this summer from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, TT Games and The Lego Group. The game's release follows the trickle of new Lego Super Heroes: DC Universe sets that have started popping up online and at retail. Gameplay will expand on the first Lego Batman game, with playable versions of Superman, Wonder Woman and Green Lantern (and more unannounced characters) joining the battle against Lex Luthor and the Joker in Gotham City.

Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes will roll out on essentially every current-gen console, including the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3DS and PC. Given the past release of an iOS Lego Batman: Gotham City Games tie-in game, it might be safe to expect some kind of mobile game later on, too.

From the official Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes press release:
LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes allows players to explore all new areas of Gotham City utilizing a variety of vehicles including the Batmobile and Batwing. In addition, they'll be able to fight for justice by mastering new gadgets and suits, such as Batman's Power Suit and Robins' Hazard Cannon, and using all-new abilities including flight, super-breath and heat vision.

I was at some diplomatic party once. Got to talking to this princess who told me that when it came to Superman, I was missing the point. She told me, "His real strength lay in his generous spirit and sense of what's fair." - King Faraday

He’s much more of a working class superhero, which is why we ended the whole book with the image of a laboring Superman. He’s Everyman operating on a sci–fi Paul Bunyan scale." - Grant Morrison
