Characterizing a factual correction as “going in circles” is a dishonest move and has a stifling effect on open debate. If allowed to stand, it would mean that any legitimate rebuttal could be forestalled by simple rhetorical assertion (absent reason or evidence) - “you’re wrong because I say so.” This is called
argumentum ad lapidem or “argument by dismissal” - a recognized logical fallacy.
